"Daddy, since you slept with Sister, shouldn’t you be responsible for her? When I kissed Xiao Jun’s cheek at kindergarten, she said I had to marry her!"
Ji Baby’s words left Ji Rui speechless. But he’s always been a bit tongue-tied, especially with his clever little ghost of a son who thinks even faster than a race car engine, leaving him at a loss for how to communicate. Just like now, even though he knew his son’s thoughts were off, he didn’t know where to start with the lesson, so he ended up pinching his little face and saying.
"You and Xiao Jun are just kids playing house, it doesn’t count!"
Ji Baby raised his head, his eyes shining with curiosity.
"So are you and Sister just playing around and it doesn’t count either?"
Ji Rui was left speechless by Ji Baby’s seemingly innocent question, silently squatting in front of him to help tidy his sweater and put on his coat, before lifting his gaze to sneak a glance at him, his tone suddenly more serious.
"Baobao, that’s adult stuff, it’s different from kids."
Was he and Le Tong just playing around? Ji Rui silently asked himself.
That night, he indeed was captivated by a Le Tong completely different from usual, bewildered and unable to find his bearings at all.
He had once doubted if he was frigid, hence never having improper thoughts about won.
But that night, he completely shattered those worries and doubts.
He wasn’t frigid, from not having improper thoughts about other won before, probably because they didn’t have that capability.
Also, for this reason, Ji Rui was persistently convinced that Le Tong was scheming to seduce him that night. Otherwise, with his self-control and immunity to won, how could he as easily be ignited by a drunkard, his always-prided rationality collapsing in the end, leaving him devouring her as she wished till nothing was left!
A relationship born from one’s calculation can probably not even be considered playing around!
Ji Rui originally cleared his mind a bit after a nap, yet was once again tangled up by a few words about Le Tong from Baobao, that kind of annoyance seeming to bubble up from deep within his bones again.
Ji Baby, scolded by Ji Rui, pouted and retorted angrily, "Hm, Daddy is so bad and fierce, even if you propose, Sister won’t agree!"
After saying that fiercely, Ji Baby pouted and lowered his head, ignoring Ji Rui.
Ji Rui was nearly bewildered by his son’s unintentional words cracking his current predicant, almost spitting out old blood.
Although he hadn’t proposed to Le Tong, that contract, in the end, was a kind of restraint and commitnt to their relationship. Le Tong running away with the contract and cheque was like a harsh slap on his face.
This loud slap made Ji Rui very embarrassed and also very defiant.
Yet, with no way to vent this defiance to anyone, it stewed in his heart, almost suffocating him internally.
The words questioned by Yang Sheng last night, coupled with his son’s very certain conclusion now, were like two sharp knives, stabbing into his heart alternately.
Ji Rui, also angered, knew his son was mad at him, yet didn’t have the mood to console him. After helping him with his clothes, he held his hand and walked out of the dining room with him.
Ji Baby sat on the chair, spooning the porridge in his bowl idly back and forth, not really eating it.
Ji Rui quickly finished a bowl of porridge, glancing at Baobao with amusent ignited by his pouting, pitiful look, he reached over with his long arm, scooped him onto his lap, took his bowl and spoon, and fed him a spoonful of porridge.
At the end of the day, Ji Rui was still a father, getting angry with a five-year-old little kid, and his biological son at that, wasn’t sothing that could last long.
"Eat up, once you’re full, Daddy will take you back to kindergarten."
Since Le Tong had left, Ji Rui had been so busy he often didn’t even have ti to eat, so the task of picking up and dropping off Baobao was left to the driver and nanny.
Ji Baby blinked a few tis, looked up with a "hmph," full of disdain, yet obediently opened his mouth to eat the porridge Ji Rui took the opportunity to feed him, munching a bit before swallowing it down.
After feeding him a few more bites, Ji Baby completely forgot about being mad at Ji Rui, starting to chat away while eating.
What he shared with Ji Rui, was nothing more than funny things happening at kindergarten, and stuff about Little Bai and White.
Ji Rui, the serious and rigid kind, couldn’t get a word in, just listened silently, not interrupting, nor reacting, rely feeding breakfast to his son patiently.
Ji Baby seed used to his silence, chit-chatting away to himself, until Ji Rui fed him a bowl of porridge and a piece of bread, finally burping with satisfaction, hopping off Ji Rui’s lap with a full tummy, going to fetch cat food to fill the bowls for still-sleeping White and Little Bai.
Ji Baby’s bad mood always ca and went quickly, on the way to kindergarten, he was back to his chatty self, sitting on Ji Rui’s lap and continuing to talk non-stop, while Ji Rui silently held him, listening quietly, even more silent than usual.
Ji Baby seed to finally realize his daddy’s absent-mindedness and unusual deanor, paused his talking, pried himself off Ji Rui, grabbed his school bag lying beside him, and rummaged around inside.
Ji Rui didn’t pay much attention to Baobao’s movents, looking out the window, though it wasn’t raining when they left, now it was drizzling lightly.
"Xiao Li, tell the site manager to be careful in the rain."
The piece of land ntioned over dinner with Director Chen was successfully acquired by the Ji Family, with plans to build a the park. Construction began a few days ago; Ji Rui, being too busy, hardly went to the site, leaving Yang Sheng to handle it.
"Got it, I’ll call him later."
Xiao Li, being Ji Rui’s closest driver, also helped him handle so business matters at tis.
After instructing, Ji Rui stared out at the raining scenery, lost in thoughts.
By now, Ji Baby, having fiddled around in his school bag, kneeled behind him, wrapped his little arms around his neck, bringing his little face close to his and nuzzled affectionately.
"Daddy, do you miss Sister, just like Baobao misses her?"
The soft, sweet voice echoed in Ji Rui’s ear. Ji Rui’s body inexplicably shook, about to deny, when his mouth was suddenly shoved with sothing hard, instinctively trying to resist, a silky sweetness instantly spread over his tongue.
Ji Rui was startled, not yet reacting, heard Ji Baby’s clean and comforting voice say.
"Daddy, here’s a lollipop, eating it will make you feel better!"
