With his most cherished wish gaining approval from the two people he loves most, Baobao was in an exceptionally good mood and chattered non-stop along the way. Le Tong and Ji Rui mostly just had to respond at appropriate monts.

Baobao and Le Tong squatted in the grass, watching two little grasshoppers fight, while Ji Rui stood nearby taking a phone call.

Since the incident with Baobao, Ji Rui hadn’t returned to the Ji Family for several days, leaving matters temporarily in the full charge of Yang Sheng.

Though it was said to be full charge, Yang Sheng would still call Ji Rui when he encountered tricky issues, and decisions were made after discussions. Just now, it was a call from Yang Sheng.

"Rui, how is Baobao doing?"

Glancing at Baobao pointing and talking in Le Tong’s arms, Ji Rui paced a little distance away and said, "Le Tong ca back last night, and Baobao’s emotions finally stabilized. He’s happily playing with Le Tong now."

"Ah, that girl Tongtong..."

Yang Sheng seed to want to say sothing but hesitated.

"What’s wrong with her?" Ji Rui unconsciously glanced at Le Tong gently holding Baobao over there.

After a half-second pause, Yang Sheng spoke, "It’s nothing... The final phase of the the park’s construction should be completed in these few days. Given Baobao’s current situation, should the opening date be delayed a bit?"

This large the park primarily targets children. Others might not know, but Yang Sheng knows that Ji Rui insisted on building this park not only for its economic value but also because of Baobao.

Without a second thought, Ji Rui replied, "Let’s delay it a bit. Anyway, the marketing work at the planning departnt hasn’t started yet."

Yang Sheng acknowledged, indicating he understood, then briefly reported other matters. Finally, he said to Ji Rui, "Rui, can you let Tongtong take the call?"

Ji Rui walked back, handing the phone to Le Tong.

Le Tong looked puzzled at him, and Ji Rui shoved the phone into her hand, "Yang Sheng wants to talk to you."

Saying this, he took Baobao into his arms.

Le Tong took the phone, "Brother, what’s up?"

"Tongtong, have you thought it through?"

Yang Sheng spoke directly as soon as the call connected.

Le Tong was stunned for a mont, not answering imdiately. Instead, she got up and walked to a pavilion at the edge of the grass.

"Brother, I’m not quite sure what you an."

"Tongtong, I know you pity Baobao, but by constantly giving him hope like this, have you thought about your own situation?"

For Yang Sheng, both Ji Rui and Le Tong are good friends, but his words completely considered from Le Tong’s standpoint.

"Brother, thank you!"

Now, regardless of what others say, Le Tong won’t abandon her intention to take care of Baobao, but the reason behind it, she can’t explain to anyone.

On the other end of the call, Yang Sheng fell silent once more.

"Alright, since you’ve decided, I won’t say anymore. Tell Baobao I’ll co to see him in the afternoon and bring whatever he wants to eat."

Handing the phone back to Ji Rui, Le Tong worried he might ask about Yang Sheng’s intentions, but the man rely took the phone and put it away, saying nothing.

In truth, even if Le Tong didn’t say, Ji Rui could roughly guess what Yang Sheng had said to her, rely advising her not to get involved in this ss, right?

By clearly having him pass the phone to Le Tong, Yang Sheng was subtly telling Ji Rui not to do anything inappropriate to Le Tong because she is kind-hearted, or else Yang Sheng won’t let Ji Rui off easily.

Ji Rui always knew that Yang Sheng and Le Tong were very close, but to what extent, he finally understood at monts like this.

Thinking of their strong relationship made Ji Rui slightly uncomfortable. This feeling, like a fish bone stuck in his throat, had been occurring often lately, and each ti, it seed to be because of Le Tong.

"Baobao, Uncle Sheng said he’ll co to see you this afternoon, and you can ask him to bring you whatever you want to eat or play with."

Initially, Baobao looked excited, but soon, his smile faded, and he resolutely said,

"Baobao doesn’t want anything! The doctor uncle said Baobao can’t eat randomly now. Sister, tell Uncle Sheng that when Baobao gets better, then he can bring food for Baobao."

Le Tong wished she could hug Baobao and have a good cry, for his sensibility and for how the heavens could be so cruel to tornt such a sensible and adorable child.

Whether it’s due to the dication or the illness, Baobao, who was previously energetic and always as mischievous as a wild monkey, after playing on the grass for half an hour, lay on Ji Rui, unwilling to move.

Ji Rui and Le Tong saw this and felt uncomfortable. They took turns carrying him around the garden, chatting and joking with him to distract him.

After the walk, Baobao lay on the bed, spoke only a few words, and then dozed off.

Le Tong secretly went to ask the doctor, who said the fatigue was due to his weakened immune system.

"This child Baobao is really exceptional. Generally, children have a fear of hospitals. But he has been here for several days and never once ntioned pain or discomfort to us. The past few days, he cried and fussed only because he couldn’t see you. As for his own illness, he didn’t utter a single complaint. Let’s say he’s only a five-year-old. Even for adults, it’s not easy to achieve this. Sigh..."

The doctor’s words made Le Tong hide in the restroom for over ten minutes before coming out.

Baobao slept for two or three hours straight and woke up just in ti for lunch.

In the following days, Baobao’s life was much like the first day after Le Tong returned. Every morning, after breakfast, Ji Rui and Le Tong would take him for a walk, then he’d nap, have lunch, cooperate with doctors for treatnt, after which Le Tong would tell him stories or accompany him in drawing and reading until he got tired, and then sleep again, waking up just in ti for dinner.

Thanks to the hospital director’s special permission, Le Tong was able to cook a variety of dishes for Baobao these days.

Of course, most of these dishes were limited to bland porridge and soup, yet Baobao still savored every al.

anwhile, Ji Rui was not idle either. When Baobao was awake, he and Le Tong kept Baobao company. When Baobao slept, he would occasionally make calls to track the progress of the bone marrow match. He even sent Baobao’s bone marrow samples abroad, hoping to find a suitable match in a larger range.

In the blink of an eye, Le Tong had been back in R City for four days, and Baobao had been hospitalized for a whole week. Every day, Baobao actively cooperated with his treatnt, and his spirits were always high, chatting and playing with Le Tong and Ji Rui.

But watching his face grow thinner day by day, Le Tong felt increasingly distressed.

Moreover, the results returned from various hospitals over these days only made Le Tong’s heart sink even further.
