This ti, it was Le Tong’s turn to be confused by him.
"Yang Sheng wouldn’t open his heart to soone just because of soone else’s request."
So it seems, Ji Rui really does understand Yang Sheng quite well.
Le Tong thought, since you understand so well, why ask? Do you have to force to say things that would embarrass you?
"Really? I don’t really know him, I just thought he was nice to because of the professor’s request, is that not the case?"
Le Tong pretended not to understand, innocently blinking her eyes at Ji Rui.
Her curled long eyelashes fluttered innocently under the setting sun, and Ji Rui, who was watching her, felt his heart pound with each blink.
Those fluttering lashes seed like a magical brush with enchanting power, electrifying his heart and body into a tingling numbness.

Ji Rui pressed his lips together and held his breath, finally calming himself down with difficulty.
With effort, Ji Rui pulled his wandering thoughts back and kept staring at her. "Is that really what you think?"

Ji Rui looked at her without blinking, "Maybe!"
Suddenly, he didn’t feel like letting Le Tong know about Yang Sheng’s goodness at all.
He knew that soone as smart as Le Tong couldn’t possibly be unaware of why Yang Sheng was nice to her.
But to praise Yang Sheng in front of Le Tong? Right now, he just couldn’t do it!
"By the way, how does your family plan to decorate? I know a designer who’s really good at small apartnt renovations, want him to take a look?"
Unwilling to make wedding clothes for others, Ji Rui quickly changed the subject.
Even though he was quite slow when it ca to matters of the heart, he could still see that Le Tong had been avoiding his question all along.
Indeed, she wasn’t very fond of him to begin with, maybe even disliked him. Yet here he was, forcing her to spend ti with him day and night. She couldn’t really do much other than try to evade.
After all, he beca her boss again, and making things awkward would only bring suffering to everyone.
Besides, since Baobao was their mutual child, he surely wouldn’t want to see any conflicts between his parents (though they had no actual relationship). If things really got ugly, the most hurt person would definitely be Baobao!
When they ntioned the house, Le Tong’s eyes lit up, but then quickly dimd.
"Maybe... not for now."
The down paynt for the house was a hundred thousand, which had almost depleted her savings. Even with a good salary from working at the Ji Family, after deducting the upcoming monthly mortgage paynts and expenses for herself and Baobao, there probably wouldn’t be much left.
"Why not for now, worried about the renovation costs?"
Le Tong smiled awkwardly, admitting it.
"How about this? You originally signed a two-year contract with the company, and there are only a few months left. Go renew for five years at the HR departnt, then get an advance on a year’s salary from the finance departnt, and pay it back monthly over the five-year contract period. How does that sound?"
Ji Rui’s suggestion made Le Tong’s eyes light up again.
Advances on salaries weren’t a big deal at the Ji Family. Any employee who contributed even a little to the company could request an advance. However, there probably weren’t many who asked for a whole year’s salary in advance.
But even so, Ji Rui wasn’t exactly setting a precedent for her, so she almost imdiately nodded in agreent.
The minor hesitation she felt was due to the five-year contract term.
Of course, if Ji Rui and she weren’t in this strange situation and he were just her boss, she would happily work at a big company like the Ji Family. Not just for five years, even ten or twenty years would be no problem.
But now, she and Ji Rui are like this...

"What were you thinking? You almost fell into a hole!"
Le Tong looked down at the sidewalk a few steps away. Indeed, there was a hole about several centiters wide, marked off with a thin red line, but she was too caught up in her thoughts to notice it.
Feeling utterly embarrassed, Le Tong coughed lightly, "I wasn’t thinking of anything..."
As she spoke halfway, she suddenly felt a hot sensation pressing against her front waist.
Looking down, she saw the man’s large hand resting naturally on her lower belly.
Le Tong’s face flushed scarlet from her ears to her cheeks.
She tried to straighten up and leave his embrace, but the man behind her held her arm with one hand and supported her front waist with the other, effectively locking her firmly in his embrace.
"Mr. Ji..." Le Tong timidly spoke.
"Hmm?!"
Le Tong lowered her face, not daring to look at him, because she knew her face must be bright red, burning hot from her face to her neck.
"Could you let go? There are so many people watching..."
In truth, her heart was pounding like a hundred little deer running wild, so ssy that she didn’t even have the mind to notice if anyone was actually watching!
Yet Ji Rui did not comply with her wish, instead lowering his eyes to closely observe her.
With her eyes lowered, he couldn’t see her expression clearly, but her nose and cheeks were blushing and bright, like a cooked shrimp.
When soone blushes, it usually ans they’re nervous or perhaps shy, right?
Thinking of these two possibilities, Ji Rui’s lips unconsciously curled into a slight smile.
"Who’s watching? Everyone’s in a rush to get ho for dinner."
The stern man sounded just as serious and cold even when making a playful joke.
But in Le Tong’s ears, there was a clear sense of teasing and humor.
His teasing annoyed Le Tong, so much so that she forgot her embarrassnt and confusion, "Ji Rui!"
She muttered under her breath, elbows digging into his ribs.
"Ugh!" The man grunted.
Sowhat agitated and upset, Le Tong didn’t hold back at all, so it was only normal for Ji Rui to feel pain. However, even after he cried out, he still showed no intention of letting go.
"Let go!" Le Tong had no choice but to angrily and softly demand again.
Then, she heard the man behind her let out a seemingly light chuckle, and her body was suddenly pushed away by him.
Yet when she turned around, the man’s face was still that cold and indifferent poker face, with no trace of laughter.
Lucky for him, otherwise, if she saw him laughing, tonight would...
