Ji Rui walked out of the kitchen, and Yang Sheng and Ji Baby were already sitting on the sofa. As they saw him co out, their eyes simultaneously turned towards him.
"Mommy finally agreed to talk to you?"
Ji Baby’s eyes sparkled with light. You know, when Daddy and Mommy are giving each other the cold shoulder, he’s the one stuck in the middle and suffering the most.
He wants to help Mommy but feels Daddy’s such a fool and quite pitiful. Helping Daddy, however, would just upset Mommy, so Baby has had a very rough ti these past days.
Just now, he clearly heard voices conversing in the kitchen. It seems his silly Daddy finally figured it out and managed to coax Mommy back.
"Yes!" Ji Rui had a slight smile on his face, sat down next to Baby, and lifted him onto his lap.
"Baby, we’re going to see your grandma tomorrow." Le Tong had asked Ji Rui to co out and seek Baby’s opinion, but Ji Rui frad it as a definitive statent.
He’d already made up his mind; even if Baby didn’t want to go, he’d find a way to bring him anyway.
However, his concerns were clearly unnecessary.
"Okay! Where’s grandma?"
Ji Rui was taken aback for a mont, "Baby, grandma is like your other grandma..."
Ji Rui thought Baby wasn’t aware of the truth that grandma had passed away.
But actually, when Le Tong first brought Baby ho, she had solemnly shown Baby a photo of Mrs. Le.
It’s just that at that ti, Baby didn’t realize that the very kind woman in the picture was his grandmother.
"Yeah, Baby knows! So both my grandmas are in that cetery?"
This question stumped Ji Rui. "Let’s go ask your Mommy!"
Ji Rui said, carrying Baby towards the kitchen, leaving Yang Sheng sitting alone on the sofa, feeling a sense of being left out of this trio.
"Le Tong, where is your mom’s grave?"
There are several ceteries in R City, and Ji Rui wasn’t sure where Mrs. Le’s grave specifically was.
"At the West Suburban Cetery."
Although it’s quite far from the city center, the prices there are relatively cheaper.
"The West Suburban Cetery. It’ll take us about an hour or so to get there. If we buy things first, it’ll be quite late. How about we find a place to have lunch there?"
Ji Rui was quite thoughtful. While he and Le Tong didn’t mind, Baby’s body was not yet fully recovered and needed to eat regularly.
"Yes, keep an eye out for any restaurants there that are clean and have good hygiene. Maybe we should even make a reservation," Le Tong nodded in agreent.
Baby’s dark eyes darted around a bit before he tugged on Le Tong’s clothes.
"Mommy, Mommy, how about we go for a picnic? Let’s invite Uncle Yang Sheng too!"
Baby had probably been cooped up in the hospital for too long. Now, as long as Le Tong allowed it, he was always clamoring to go out every weekend. But Le Tong, considering the quality of the air outside wasn’t great, usually took him for a short walk and didn’t let him out for long.
However, the air in the suburbs was very good, and with the temperature cooling these past few days and a hint of autumn in the air, a picnic couldn’t be more appropriate.
"What do you think?" Le Tong glanced at Ji Rui, asking for his opinion.
It seed the cold war had completely ended!
"Okay, let’s go with Baby’s idea." Ji Rui couldn’t hide the smile at the corners of his mouth.
"If we’re going for a picnic, we need to go shopping after dinner."
"Okay, we’ll go out after dinner."
After Ji Rui and Baby reached an agreent with Le Tong, they returned to the living room where Yang Sheng sat looking pitifully at Ji Rui.
"Rui, you’re valuing romance over friendship!"
Ji Rui didn’t argue but instead added fuel to the fire, "It’s not like I want to spend my whole life with you. Why should I be so nice to you?"
Baby hugged Ji Rui’s neck, laughing, "Daddy, do you want to spend your whole life with Mommy?"
Ji Rui blinked his eyes, indicating agreent silently!
Yang Sheng felt helpless with the father-son duo, saying, "Why do I feel like I’m completely unnecessary here?!"
Ji Rui watched him with a smile, remaining silent, but Baby climbed from Ji Rui’s lap onto Yang Sheng’s knee, hugged his neck, and gave him a peck, "Who says that? Baby still wants Uncle Yang Sheng to co to the picnic tomorrow!"
Yang Sheng’s wounded heart found so relief, "Really? Baby really wants Uncle Yang Sheng to co with you?"
"Yeah! Of course, it’s been so long since Baby last went on a picnic..."
Baby turned his gaze out the window, the sky full of hope in his eyes.
Ji Rui and Yang Sheng exchanged a look, "Since Baby is so enthusiastic, Uncle Yang Sheng definitely won’t refuse. Besides, just like Baby, Uncle Yang Sheng hasn’t been to a picnic in ages."
"Daddy, Baby really misses White and Little Bai. Can they co out to play tomorrow?"
Because of Baby’s illness, Ji Rui and Le Tong were extra cautious and didn’t allow him to touch pets. White and Little Bai were still being temporarily kept at the pet store.
Ji Rui thought for a mont and nodded.
As a result, Baby released Yang Sheng, scampering off to the kitchen to share this happy news with Le Tong.
Watching his retreating figure, Yang Sheng felt a surge of emotion, "Rui, don’t you feel Baby has changed a lot?"
Ji Rui gave him a glance, "You an his personality?"
"Yeah, before, a lot of his happiness was just an act. But now, his joy is genuinely from the heart. And he’s becoming more and more adorable, don’t you think?"
Previously, even for Yang Sheng, dealing with Baby’s little sches could be a headache.
But now, those crafty monts from Baby seed to happen less and less often.
"Yes, now he truly seems like a kid over five years old."
Ji Rui exhaled almost imperceptibly. He knew that Baby turned out that way solely because of him. If it wasn’t for his past irresponsibility, abandoning Baby in such a complex environnt to fend for himself, Baby wouldn’t have developed such a dual personality.
Fortunately, now with Le Tong by his side, he could grow up happily like this, and all the calculations and sches that arose for self-protection, in the future, would be handled entirely by him, the father.
"Rui, honestly, I’m quite envious of you!"
Yang Sheng rarely dropped his teasing deanor, speaking earnestly.
"Yeah, I feel very lucky indeed!"
Even he couldn’t believe that two people who should never have crossed paths again sohow miraculously reunited.
"Rui, not everyone gets to have a second chance like this after making a mistake. Treat Tongtong well; she’s a good woman."
After saying this, Yang Sheng fell silent.
Ji Rui looked at him, a sense of unease rising in his heart, "Yang Sheng, is there sothing you’re hiding from ?"
Yang Sheng remained silent for a long ti with his head down before finally looking up at Ji Rui, "Rui, I want to take a leave for a while."
