Even though Le Tong believed that the hospital was more suitable for recovery than ho, Ji Rui said staying in the hospital didn’t give him a sense of security. Besides, he had many urgent matters to handle, which was inconvenient in the hospital.

Le Tong persuaded him for a long ti, and finally, Ji Rui repeatedly promised that he would cooperate with the doctor for twice-a-day ho check-ups. Moreover, if his condition relapsed, he would promptly return to the hospital until fully recovered.

The two eventually reached an agreent, and on that night, Ji Rui was discharged from the hospital.

However, after being discharged, he did not return to his ho in Longxing Garden but moved directly into the newly renovated apartnt in the building near Le Tong’s alley.

Le Tong, concerned about Ji Rui, temporarily moved in with Baobao to take care of him.

Due to the doctor’s constant warnings, Ji Rui’s wound still couldn’t move carelessly, so even back at the new ho, Ji Rui was strictly ordered by Le Tong to stay put, not allowed to leave the bedroom on his own within a day or two without the doctor’s permission.

On the night of his discharge, Le Tong was busy until late, only managing to settle the patient President Ji and her precious son. After bathing, it was already midnight.

Le Tong sat with tea in the unfamiliar living room, looking around the simple yet elegant and cozy dwelling, feeling as if she were in a dream.

When Xiao Li pointed out to the dical staff to send Ji Rui here, Le Tong felt deceived. Clearly, he had an apartnt so close, why hadn’t he ever ntioned it, making her worry for nothing and foolishly offer him a stay multiple tis.

It was until she entered and saw no signs of habitation inside, and Ji Rui promptly explained that this place had just been renovated. It was intended for moving here to conveniently care for her and her child, but unforeseen circumstances delayed the move.

Le Tong felt relieved imdiately.

Initially, based on her previous relationship with Ji Rui that wasn’t much of anything, it was understandable if he hadn’t told her this apartnt existed.

Originally, Le Tong felt that his owning an apartnt here had nothing to do with her, but now, she couldn’t calm down after touring the place.

Since returning from the hospital, she had been busy with various things, not having the leisure to observe this two-story apartnt closely.

Only after Ji Rui and Baobao were asleep did she finally relax with a cup of tea and appreciate the apartnt.

The apartnt was large, with an estimated floor area of three to four hundred square ters. Only a wealthy person like Ji Rui could own such an apartnt in a bustling area.

If at that mont, Le Tong knew that more than half of the tens of floors of this building, including the first two floors of shops, were Ji Rui’s property, she might not consider this apartnt a luxury residence.

The ground floor of the apartnt was dominated by warm tones, with harmonious hues of off-white and light blue, making Le Tong feel as if this place was more like her ho.

Because these two colors were her favorites, and the design and concept of the entire space focused on warmth and comfort, closely resembling the design of her own little nest.

If the ground floor felt like her ho, then the second floor was more like Ji Rui’s ho.

The upper floor was mainly black and white, with a simplistic and clean bright feel similar to the style of Ji Rui’s original apartnt.

Even if Le Tong was reluctant to think too much, the comfortable and intimate feeling of sitting in the ground floor living room was just like sitting at ho, making her inevitably ponder whether Ji Rui had the ground floor designed entirely based on her preferences.

What this represents was clear to anyone, even a fool.

At that point, Le Tong had to admit that Ji Rui, although often domineeringly scary, and sotis subjectively infuriating, was adorably cute in his clumsy manner of pampering soone.

Lying in bed, closing her eyes at that mont, Le Tong thought that perhaps the step she took was a good thing, for both him and herself.

...

The next morning, Ji Rui was awakened by an enticing aroma. Before opening his eyes, he felt exceedingly hungry, wishing he could imdiately devour an entire cow to appease the hunger that had been plaguing him for two days.

Ji Rui opened his eyes and unexpectedly t Le Tong’s tender gaze.

"Awake?"

The kind-faced woman was standing by the bed with a tray, the aroma growing stronger with the rising warmth from the bowl.

"Yeah, woke up hungry!" Ji Rui smiled at the woman, propping his hand on the bed to sit up.

"Don’t move around, stay put properly."

In the past few days, Le Tong spoke to Ji Rui in a half-coaxing, half-threatening tone, making him feel like he was not Ji Rui but his almost six-year-old son Ji Yu.

"I’m fine now..." Ji Rui was sowhat helpless but had to obediently lie down, not daring to cause trouble.

Although being treated as a six-year-old boy at thirty-one seed humiliating and even insulting, the unfortunate thing was that he thoroughly enjoyed being scolded and served like a little child.

Le Tong placed the tray on the bedside table, gently helped him up, supporting his back with a pillow, then handed him a laptop to read news, while she turned into the washroom, quickly returning with a basin.

The basin contained a cup of water and a toothpaste-squeezed toothbrush, "Brush your teeth first!" Le Tong handed him the water and toothbrush, putting the basin onto the small table on the bed.

For the first ti in his life, Ji Rui was served so thoughtfully, yet he didn’t resist it, "Why do I feel like I’m Baobao?"

After brushing his teeth, Ji Rui obediently handed the cup and toothbrush to Le Tong, then took the towel she had wrung for him.

"In your dreams, a man in his thirties, and you want to be like Baobao?" Le Tong rcilessly mocked him.

Ji Rui buried his face in the towel, only revealing his bright eyes fixed on Le Tong.

"Uncle?"

Baobao often used this term in front of him, but Ji Rui never cared much.

However, hearing this nickna from Le Tong, Ji Rui felt a subtle sense of resistance inside.

Originally, he felt a significant cognitive gap between him and Le Tong, being six years older ant two wide and deep generational gaps.

Now, hearing her call him uncle, he couldn’t help but wonder if he was just a stubborn and outdated uncle in Le Tong’s eyes.

Little did Le Tong know that her simple words could shatter the strong President Ji’s confidence completely?

"Not an uncle, then what, a youngster? Look at your face, though wrinkle-free, always steely, how could you be like Baobao?"
