Ji Rui stared fixedly at him, "If it weren’t for you, not for Ji Wen and Ji Wu, perhaps only CoCo would hate enough to want to take my life to relieve her resentnt!"

Ji Rui felt a vague sense of sorrow in his heart. He was already thirty-one, yet still needed to use such a thod to beg for family love.

Especially since the target of his begging was soone he had always despised, soone he thought he no longer cared about.

"CoCo?" Mr. Ji’s expression seed very shocked.

"Doesn’t she love you a lot?"

Ji Rui’s eyes were full of mockery, and then a hint of pain flashed through them, "The more you love, the deeper the hurt."

CoCo was like that, and so was his mother.

However, the two had chosen completely different ways of liberation.

A woman as obsessive as CoCo, she was content to destroy what she couldn’t have, so no one else could get it either.

But his mother would rather destroy herself than live to see the one she loved be intimate and affectionate with soone else.

Mr. Ji’s eyes began to flicker, thinking about sothing unknown, while Ji Rui remained silent, letting the silence spread between the two.

Ji Rui knew very well that this was his last chance for this man.

...

Le Tong held Baobao as she entered the bedroom. To prevent Baobao from wild imaginations, Le Tong racked her brains to reveal so embarrassing childhood stories of her own, and Baobao was quite delighted, giggling happily.

However, Le Tong knew that the words exchanged between Ji Rui and Mr. Ji, this prematurely mature little guy must have silently rembered.

Yet she couldn’t bla Ji Rui. If she guessed correctly, Ji Rui was deliberately exposing Mr. Ji’s true nature in front of Baobao, reminding him to be cautious of the Ji Family, including the grandfather who had always cherished him so dearly.

The relationship between Ji Rui and Mr. Ji, clearly a blood relative but lacking even basic warmth, filled with calculations day after day, left Le Tong feeling cold.

Le Tong held Baobao, a smile on her face, but secretly she sighed inwardly.

No wonder Ji Rui was so harsh and suspicious by nature. If Baobao continued living in the Ji Family mansion, probably in ten or eight years, he would beco another version of Ji Rui.

"Mommy..." Baobao shook Le Tong, who had sowhat gotten lost in thought.

Le Tong quickly pulled her wandering thoughts back, lowering her head to press against Baobao’s forehead.

"Hmm?!"

"Mommy doesn’t need to worry; Grandpa loves Baobao a lot, and Daddy won’t let anyone bully Baobao!"

The little guy had a very clear mind, and though young, he weighed the emotions of Mr. Ji and Ji Rui towards him with precision.

"Hmm..." Le Tong sighed almost inaudibly, rubbing her cheek against Baobao’s smooth little face.

Probably it was growing up in such a complex environnt that shaped Baobao’s prematurely mature character.

The mother and son hugged each other, unspeakably intimate, contrasting sharply with the head-to-head confrontation of the father and son in the dining hall outside.

There was a knock at the door, followed by Ji Rui’s voice.

"Le Tong, co out."

Le Tong hurriedly took Baobao’s hand and walked over to open the door, "Are you okay?"

Speaking with a caring gaze, she quickly scanned Ji Rui from top to bottom.

"I’m fine..."

Ji Rui’s face was a bit pale, and thin beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.

Le Tong frowned, let go of Baobao, moved forward quickly, and took his arm, "Hurry back to bed and rest!"

The tone contained a slight reproach, but the gaze she gave him was filled with deep concern and heartache.

"Hmm."

Ji Rui pulled his lips into a satisfied smile. Although from certain people he might never get the affection he wanted, the woman beside him offered an irreplaceable warmth.

The massive cold ice in his heart’s depths slowly began to lt because of her enveloping warmth.

Baobao helped Le Tong guide Ji Rui into the master bedroom. Whether he was genuinely hungry, or simply didn’t want to be the third wheel between his parents, he said, "Baobao will go hurry Uncle," and scampered out, gently closing the bedroom door.

Le Tong carefully supported Ji Rui, attending to him to ensure he lay down properly, lifting his shirt to check his abdon, finding nothing unusual before covering him with a blanket.

"You haven’t healed yet, you shouldn’t let anger take over!" Le Tong glanced at him accusingly.

Ji Rui obediently let her fuss over him as he lay down, reaching out to grab her hand.

"I wasn’t angry..."

Ji Rui’s words obviously carried so guilt, speaking softly as he kissed the back of her hand ingratiatingly, watching her cautiously, "Are you angry?"

Facing a patient like him, how could Le Tong be truly angry?

"Your body is yours; the pain is yours too. Why should I be angry?" She huffed, trying to pull her hand back forcefully.

Since Le Tong nodded to try dating him, due to Ji Rui’s injury, the intimate contact between the two was limited to holding hands or kissing the hands.

But even at this level, Le Tong found it very uncomfortable. Almost every ti, her instincts would scream to yank her hand away from Ji Rui’s hold, only to recognize the reality at the last mont—they were now in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, so those intimate gestures, she had to slowly get used to.

"Not angry, then you’re worried?" Ji Rui looked at her with amusent, his deep eyes carrying a hint of expectation.

Le Tong’s black shining eyes stared at him for a mont, then unexpectedly nodded.

"Yes, I’m worried!"

Ji Rui was stunned briefly, then his eyes were filled with delight.

He thought that even though she agreed to date, having her readily admit her emotions would still take quite so ti. He didn’t expect her to be so candid in her declaration.

At this mont, Ji Rui even felt grateful to the person who stabbed him; if not for this incident, Le Tong might still be hesitating, not to ntion making such a warm confession.

Ji Rui’s heart was secretly cheerful, and Le Tong’s cool fingertips gently brushed his lip corner, softly caressing his cheek along the lips.

"You’ve lost weight!" In Le Tong’s eyes, besides worry and pity, there was a mix of many complex expressions.

Ji Rui only felt like the skin she touched had been hit by an electric current, a tingle spreading from his face quickly transmitting to his brain, making him feel as if his heart and soul quivered slightly with her soft voice.

To Ji Rui, this kind of experience was very unfamiliar, but it was captivating, making him unconsciously indulge in it, wanting more and more!

"Le Tong..." Ji Rui slightly squinted, his deep eyes filled with layers of subtle light swirling.
