The Le Tong in front of Ji Rui, questioning him with a cold voice and an angry face, was so unfamiliar it frightened Lawyer Fan.
Nervously glancing at Ji Rui, the man was seated confidently in his office chair, without a hint of panic or surprise on his face.
As if everything before him was all within his expectations.
"Miss Le, if you have any questions, can you bring them up after finishing reading these two docunts?
Lawyer Fan was bewildered, wondering why Le Tong was so oblivious to the situation. These docunts appeared beneficial to her, and her attitude towards Ji Rui—even if it was a re tactic of playing hard to get—was overly exaggerated.
Le Tong didn’t even glance at him, and with a stern face, she pushed the two docunts towards Ji Rui and spoke coldly.
"Ji Rui, is testing like this fun for you? Sorry, I’m very busy!"
With a cold face, Le Tong couldn’t be bothered to look at Ji Rui’s hesitant expression, let alone the already scared silent Lawyer Fan. She left the two behind, turned swiftly to the door, opened it, and dashed out. The door shut with a bang behind her, leaving the two n exchanging perplexed looks.
The bizarre atmosphere in the office was finally broken by Ji Rui’s deliberate cough.
"Cough, cough..." Ji Rui rubbed his nose, glanced at the closed door, and laughed self-deprecatingly, "See, I lost!"
Lawyer Fan still couldn’t believe what he just witnessed was reality.
He thought, what woman would be so foolish to ignore a fortune delivered to her hands without even bothering to look?
"Mr. Ji, are you sure she’s not deliberately..."
Lawyer Fan paused, cautiously scrutinizing Ji Rui’s face, afraid of inadvertently offending the big boss in front of him.
"Deliberately what?" Ji Rui asked amusedly, raising an eyebrow.
"Deliberately..." Lawyer Fan examined Ji Rui closely again, certain that although his smile seed a bit resigned, his mood was clearly quite good, "Are you sure she’s not deliberately teasing you?"
"Haha..."
Ji Rui suddenly laughed without any warning, leaving Lawyer Fan puzzled as he watched him, relieved only when confirming he wasn’t angry. Yet the mystery in his heart grew deeper.
"I wish she was teasing !"
If she was indeed teasing him, it would an she wanted to engage with him in so way.
But the current situation was different—other than wanting to talk pure love, she carefully avoided everything else involving money with him.
Even moving into the apartnt was a small thing requiring him and Baobao to persuade her through various ans.
Yet despite that, she still threw an amount equivalent to rent into the drawer of Ji Rui’s bedside table, threatening that if he didn’t accept the money, she’d move back to her small place with Baobao.
How could this Le Tong have any awareness or eagerness to attract anyone?
Lawyer Fan didn’t understand the grudges between these two; he had previously thought Le Tong was playing so ga of hard-to-get. But Ji Rui’s reaction resembled that of a young lad falling headlong into love, nearly engraving "at your rcy" on his forehead. Reasonably, this would be the opportune mont for Le Tong to strike.
Yet Le Tong, with a dark face, walked away, seemingly truly uninterested in those two docunts.
For soone as astute as Ji Rui to be devoted to this extent, it surely wasn’t sothing that could be achieved through re acting.
"Now, what should we do?" After his original thoughts were violently shaken, Lawyer Fan dared not speak recklessly or suggest nonsensically.
Ji Rui glanced at him askance, "What do you say we do? You lost, so think of a good plan for , or else I’ll ruin you completely!"
Lawyer Fan looked at Ji Rui again, unsure whether the cheeky yet sowhat roguish man in front of him was the sa stoic, unsmiling President Ji he knew.
"Mr. Ji, do you have any other plans?"
Lawyer Fan wiped the sweat off his forehead with the back of his hand, truly experiencing the aning of "serving the king is like serving a tiger." At this mont, he deeply understood these words.
Ji Rui spread his hands, "No, I’ve pinned all my hopes on you. Think about how to persuade her to sign these two docunts; your words will likely be more convincing than mine, her direct party."
Ji Rui’s words made Lawyer Fan sweat more profusely. He realized he had been calculated by President Ji from the start, who foresaw Le Tong’s reaction and set a trap for him to jump into.
"Mr. Ji, if you want to help, just say so clearly! There’s no need to go in such a roundabout way..."
Lawyer Fan, having followed Ji Rui for years, dared to voice such complaints. He was nearing fifty, and these constant surprises were sothing he feared his heart might not withstand!
Ji Rui laughed at him, "If I had you persuade her from the beginning, would you obediently do so? Wouldn’t you instead appeal emotionally and rationally before reluctantly proceeding?"
Lawyer Fan paused, reflecting, and couldn’t help but admit that Ji Rui wasn’t wrong.
He had significant bias against Le Tong, so even if Ji Rui had explained it clearly at the outset, he wouldn’t have obediently helped Ji Rui as an interdiary.
"Alright, Mr. Ji, can you grant one night’s ti? Tomorrow I’ll attempt to talk to Miss Le."
If Le Tong wasn’t pretending, her attitude in refusing to sign was very resolute. Approaching her rashly now, Lawyer Fan didn’t have much confidence in persuading her.
Ji Rui’s smile widened, "Lawyer Fan, the way you’re behaving makes think you’re faced with a difficult legal case."
Lawyer Fan dared not express his anger at the man who handed him a hot potato, avoiding confrontation by gazing plaintively at the good-humored man.
"Mr. Ji, if Miss Le signs those docunts, do I get a considerable matchmaker’s reward?"
This intensive labor of brain cells wouldn’t be worthwhile without substantial compensation!
Ji Rui was magnanimous, "Rest assured, once accomplished, the matchmaker’s reward will definitely exceed the commission from winning a big case!"
"Mr. Ji, I naturally hope things succeed, but if they don’t..." Lawyer Fan was a shrewd man, knowing to leave a way out for himself even when cornered.
Ji Rui didn’t force it, "If it doesn’t, that’s my own problem; I won’t bla you." No one knew better than Ji Rui, both boss and lover, how stubborn Le Tong could be.
Lawyer Fan breathed a long sigh. Under Ji Rui’s semi-coercive approach, he had no choice but to bear the challenging burden.
