"Alright, it’s fine if you don’t write a letter, I’ll write one for you. How’s that?"

Ji Rui’s words were laced with laughter, and aside from the laughter, there was a faint hint of affection and tenderness.

Le Tong’s heart quivered; this feeling of being cherished and tenderly cared for was sothing she hadn’t experienced in a long ti.

"Will you really write it?"

Though it wasn’t impossible that he was rely joking, Le Tong couldn’t help but start anticipating.

Since she decided to be in a relationship with this man, she had ntally prepared herself to accept a man who was hot-tempered, moody, sharp-tongued, and dull.

But the more she interacted and got to know the man, the more she realized that his temper was not as bad as she thought. While he wasn’t exactly romantic, he was certainly more thoughtful and attentive than many other n. In short, it was unfair to call him dull.

Little did she know, Ji Rui’s good temper was reserved only for her, and his care and attentiveness began to sprout because of her.

"Hmm... I’ll write it for sure!" His deep, magnetic voice heightened Le Tong’s anticipation.

Even though the heating hadn’t been turned on in the study, Le Tong felt waves of warmth enveloping her. Known for being cold-natured, she now felt a comforting warmth throughout, with her pores lazily opening up, as if basking in gentle sunlight.

"Can you tell now what interesting thing you discovered?" Despite the diversion, the man hadn’t forgotten.

Thinking about the penny and the little note, Le Tong couldn’t help but want to laugh, but fearing she’d provoke him, she bit her lip and held it in.

"Are you deceiving ? Hmm?!" His mood seed great, and though the words were reproachful, they sounded indulgent.

It was like a child standing nervously before their father after doing sothing wrong, ready for the scolding, only for the inford father to gently pat their head instead and say "It’s alright."

Le Tong had been through so much over the years; traits like willfulness and indulgence that were tied to youth had been gradually stripped away by life’s trials.

Willfulness and indulgence were a kind of asset.

In a mundane sense, it was akin to holding onto a ten-thousand yuan bill, allowing one to recklessly destroy any item priced within that range because they could afford to pay for it.

With soone’s love, one could afford to be indulgent and willful.

And she, over these years, had sowhat forgotten the taste of willfulness.

Now the man on the other side of the call was genuinely conveying to her: Le Tong, feel free to tease as long as it makes you happy; I’m alright with it.

Le Tong had been biting her lip to suppress laughter, but now her eyes turned teary. She took a heavy sniff, "Who’s fooling you? I really did discover sothing interesting!"

"Is that so? What interesting thing has put you in such a good mood?"

"A penny..." Le Tong deliberately drew out the words to reply.

All she heard was a gentle breath on the line.

Not receiving a response, Le Tong thought he might be mad.

After all, besides the penny, there was that note he must find quite insulting.

With no reply, Le Tong awkwardly cleared her throat.

"Ahem..." Secretly annoyed with herself, she began to wonder if she had gone too far with the joke.

Just as she hesitated about whether to apologize, the man thousands of miles away finally spoke, "Nothing else besides that penny?"

She thought he might be angry, but his tone was calm, showing no signs of anger.

"There’s also eight hundred and eighty..." Le Tong dared not ntion the note that read "The service was great that night, here’s a tip!"

"That’s all?" His tone surprisingly carried a sense of patient guidance.

"Seems like..." She hesitated, eventually avoiding ntioning the note.

"Wasn’t there a little note too?" The man volunteered the information.

Le Tong felt a twitch in her eyelid; now, she really couldn’t fathom his thoughts.

If he didn’t care, his earlier prolonged silence didn’t suggest that.

But if he did care, she had circled around the note, and yet he brought it up.

"Umm... seems like it..." Le Tong stamred for once.

"Weren’t there words written on it? They were penned by you, have you forgotten?"

There was clear laughter in his voice, but Le Tong couldn’t decipher whether it was genuine or not; she felt a chill run down her arm, wondering if he was waiting to settle scores later.

"Eh?" Deciding to use her best skills, Le Tong feigned ignorance.

"Haha, eh what? Since when did my little secretary beco so forgetful? That’s not right; isn’t it said you can recite the stories of the ancestors flawlessly?"

The man laughed outright, while Le Tong couldn’t bring herself to.

"You say they’re from the ancestors; important things are indeed rembered."

Still unwilling to admit defeat, Le Tong insisted, for it wasn’t truly her fault. Writing that note was rely an emotional vent due to how excessively bullied she felt by Ji Rui. Given the circumstances, he was the one who actively enjoyed the service!

"Le Tong, I’m really sad." The man’s voice suddenly turned somber.

"You’re sad?" Recalling the past, Le Tong gritted her teeth, "You’re crying fake tears like a cat mourning a mouse, pretentious sadness!"

To Le Tong, Ji Rui’s current mood seed like a facade, a teasing act.

"It’s genuinely saddening! It’s very important to !" Ji Rui seriously emphasized.

"Hmph! Continue the act; from my perspective, you’re keeping the penny and the note to settle scores later, right?" Le Tong gritted her teeth, deciding to lay everything out honestly since he was indulging her for now.

"Actually... you’re not wrong. Initially, I did keep it as evidence, planning to properly teach you a lesson once I caught you."

As expected!

Le Tong snorted, "I knew it. So now, are you planning to flay and break my bones?"

"I wouldn’t bear to!" His reply ca swiftly and firmly.

Le Tong’s heart seed to skip a beat, despite being thousands of kiloters apart, it felt as if she was tightly embraced in his strong, broad arms.

She hadn’t even exited her reverie when she heard him speak again.

"Now it signifies more to ; it’s no longer a penny or service fee, but rather a token of our affection! Of course, if you wish, this penny can also buy ."

"Huh?" Le Tong’s mind temporarily stalled.

"Buy , for a lifeti!"
