Regarding resignation, since she knows she can’t resign, she won’t go against herself either. Sotis, when you know you can’t change reality, you have to find the most comfortable way to live within it. This is Le Tong’s life principle.
Therefore, ever since Le Tong decided to just do her own duty from today onwards and ignore other trivial matters, her mood and even her entire self have been much more relaxed.
Especially when she saw Ji Rui’s face, looking like he wanted to say sothing but couldn’t, as she brought in coffee. Her mood was just on top of the world.
For a small person like her to actually be able to affect soone like President Ji’s mood, just thinking about it gave her a huge sense of accomplishnt.
During a work break, Luo Yuanyuan pinged her on QQ.
Normally, Le Tong would probably ignore it, then reply after work hours.
But today, she had decided to just coast through in the Ji Family. If Ji Rui can tolerate her without firing her, then why not continue?
Le Tong didn’t hesitate at all and clicked on Luo Yuanyuan’s blinking icon.
Generous and composed: Hey beauty, are you there?
Cheerful: Yes! What’s up?
Generous and composed: Do you have ti tonight?
Cheerful: Yes
If it were a month ago, Le Tong would never answer so straightforwardly because she would think first about whether she might have to work overti tonight. But now, with Ji Rui treating her like this, if she still slaved over overti for him, a word like ’cheap’ wouldn’t even begin to describe it.
Generous and composed: Rarely do I see you not ntioning overti first, beauty!
Cheerful: Disdain you! I’m now unavailable; I have to work overti tonight.
Generous and composed: No! Beauty, don’t go!
Cheerful: Tell , what’s the matter?
Generous and composed: It’s Xu Tao’s birthday today, can you favor us with your presence?
Cheerful: Isn’t it a two-person world? Why invite a third wheel like ?
Generous and composed: Embarrassed! He likes a lively scene!
Cheerful: In other words, you like a two-person world, and he likes lively scenes! Who else is coming? I’ll help bring them along.
Generous and composed: My brother
Le Tong saw the answer from Luo Yuanyuan and regretted that she had spoken so definitively.
Generous and composed: Then it’s settled, you get off work at 5:30, right? My brother said he’s passing by and will pick you up, and we’ll go to dinner together tonight.
Cheerful: Isn’t this inappropriate? I should at least go ho and change out of my work uniform.
Generous and composed: Let my brother take you ho to change, it’s on the way anyway.
Le Tong wanted to say, Yuan’er, you’re setting traps for to fall into, right?
However, it’s petty to fuss over such small matters. The plans for tonight were finally settled.
In no ti, it was already ti to clock out. As Le Tong was tidying up the files on her desk, she heard footsteps approaching, and when she looked up, she was surprised to see Luo Yifan’s smiling face.
"Tongtong, it’s ti to get off work, right?"
Seeing him in a suit and carrying a briefcase, looking as if just off of work himself, Le Tong instantly understood that it was Luo Yuanyuan’s capriciousness that forced him to co over as a driver, and she internally cursed Luo Yuanyuan for making things difficult for others.
"Yifan, sorry for troubling you to co over, I could have taken the bus by myself."
Le Tong apologetically said as she quickened her pace.
"It’s no trouble; I had sothing to do at the Ji Family anyway."
Luo Yifan sounded earnest, as if, indeed, picking up Le Tong for dinner was just a convenient sidetrack.
Le Tong felt a minor relief, and with her bag packed, she prepared to leave.
Just then, the door to the president’s office opened, and Ji Rui ca out holding a stack of files.
"Brother Rui." Luo Yifan greeted Ji Rui with a smile.
Ji Rui glanced at him, nodded casually, and handed the files to Le Tong.
"I need these docunts by tomorrow morning."
Le Tong took the docunts, putting them into the drawer without missing a beat.
"I’ll take care of it first thing tomorrow morning!"
Ji Rui watched her lock the drawer and said coldly, "I ant for you to work overti and finish it!"
Le Tong straightened up to et Ji Rui’s cold gaze, "Sorry, President, I have sothing tonight, so I can’t work overti."
Ji Rui’s cold gaze then swept toward Luo Yifan, "You have a date?"
Perhaps intimidated by Ji Rui’s icy deanor, Luo Yifan hesitated slightly but soon stepped forward to protectively position Le Tong behind him.
"Brother Rui, it’s who needs Le Tong tonight."
Luo Yifan stood about the sa height as Ji Rui, with similar builds, so he should match Ji Rui in presence.
However, Le Tong could easily see the wide gap in the aura of the two n.
"I wasn’t asking you!" Ji Rui didn’t even glance at Luo Yifan, focusing instead on Le Tong.
"President, you seem to be overstepping your bounds. Whether I have a date or not is a personal matter, and I have no obligation to report it to you. Additionally, I believe you should be aware that regardless of my personal life, I have the right to refuse work demands outside of the eight-hour mark, including overti!"
Le Tong watched as Ji Rui’s expression grew colder, and she felt imnsely satisfied!
"Yifan, let’s go."
Speaking, Le Tong tugged on Luo Yifan’s arm and headed for the elevator.
Ji Rui stood in place, staring at the slowly closing elevator doors, his pale green eyes giving off a chilling coldness.
In the elevator, Luo Yifan looked at Le Tong with concern, "Tongtong, aren’t you worried about openly defying your president, that he might fire you?"
Le Tong thought, I wish he’d fire already!
"What is there to fear?" Le Tong raised an eyebrow. Right now, she felt she had nothing to lose, and with nothing to lose, there’s not much to worry about.
Luo Yifan still frowned, "You’re not afraid of him, or not afraid of being fired?"
Le Tong shrugged, nonchalantly saying, "Neither, at worst, I’ll just find another job."
Luo Yifan looked at her half-believingly, "So you really plan to change jobs?"
Le Tong neither confird nor denied, "Let’s see."
There seed to be a glimr of hope in Luo Yifan’s eyes, "Would you consider coming to the Luo Family? Yuan’er always wants you to co and keep her company."
Le Tong quickly shook her head, "That’s sothing I definitely won’t consider, I’m too familiar with you guys; it’s too easy for emotions to intermix and blur professionalism."
On this matter, Le Tong stood firm. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have sent out dozens of résumés before finally finding what she thought was a good company, which unfortunately was filled with disappointing people.
"Tongtong, you’re so stubborn! Yuan’er and I aren’t in the sa departnt as you, where would there be any lack of division?"
On this point, Le Tong had never wavered.
"Yifan, I know you and Yuan’er an well, but I’m just a humble soul, more accustod to working for people with whom I have no personal ties."
Even if she really stopped working at the Ji Family, the Luo Family was still not her ideal choice.
