Ji Rui suddenly fell silent, recalling the furious look on Le Tong’s face when she threw her resignation letter in front of him a few days ago. Perhaps Yang Sheng was right; in Le Tong’s eyes, if she didn’t work at the Ji Family, she and Ji Rui were rely strangers unrelated to each other.
"Yang Sheng, sotis I really want to poison you mute!"
To others, Ji Rui was always cold and reticent, but only Yang Sheng could provoke him to gnash his teeth.
Of course, now Le Tong also had this ability.
Soone who can make you gnash your teeth is either an enemy or a friend.
Le Tong was certainly not an enemy, but was she a friend? Ji Rui didn’t think too deeply about it, he always kept her fixed in the secretary’s position.
Since she’s just a secretary, after discarding this relationship, Ji Rui would probably just treat her as a stranger.
Yes, it must be like this.
"Rui, facts won’t change because I’m talkative or dumb. Whether I say it or not, it still exists."
Seeing Ji Rui being provoked to the brink of anger by himself, Yang Sheng fearlessly threw down the last sentence and hastily left.
In a blink, only ten days were left before the teacher’s wife’s birthday, and there was no sign of softening on Ji Rui’s side.
Le Tong couldn’t care less; she booked a plane ticket online and arranged a week’s itinerary.
She had long decided that since Ji Rui had explicitly allowed her only a three-day leave that day, she would go head-on if it wasn’t working openly.
By the ti she’s flown out of town and turned off her phone, was President Ji really going to fly out to drag her back?
If he got so infuriated that he fired her, that would be the best outco!
"Senior brother, I’m flying to K City the day after tomorrow. Do you have any gifts or items you want to take to the professors?"
Two days before leaving, Le Tong called Yang Sheng.
Yang Sheng said nothing on the phone, directly hung up, and monts later walked out of the elevator.
"Tongtong, when the teacher’s wife cooks those big fat chickens, rember to bring back two big chicken legs."
Le Tong rolled her eyes at him, "Senior brother, you foodie."
Yang Sheng patted her head, "Everyone has the right to say that about , except you, little foodie."
Ji Rui opened the door and saw exactly this scene
Le Tong tilted her head, smiling with twinkling eyes at Yang Sheng. And Yang Sheng, with his hand on Le Tong’s head, was smiling indulgently.
Between the handso man and the beautiful woman, besides being well-matched and pleasing to the eye, there was an inexplicable harmony and tacit understanding.
"Yang Sheng, you ca just in ti, co in for a mont."
Ji Rui ca out intending to go to the pantry to find so dicine. These days he had been working overti and sleeping poorly, and the headache, which had significantly eased, had begun to flare up frequently again.
Yang Sheng ruffled Le Tong’s hair, winked at her, "Let’s have dinner together and talk then."
Le Tong nodded obediently, raised her hand to smooth out the long hair Yang Sheng had mussed.
Ji Rui stared at the obedient and compliant Le Tong, a sight he hadn’t seen in front of him for a long ti, and suddenly missed those days terribly.
"President, your coffee." Every day, accompanied by the aroma of coffee, there was always Le Tong’s crisp and energetic voice.
The aromatic coffee was now gone, and her vibrant voice seed to have not resounded by his ear for a long ti.
Now, no matter what he asked her to do, she’d only reply with an "um, um," without any additional opinions or objections.
People said he was reticent, but now his little secretary outdid him in that regard.
Ji Rui couldn’t quite describe his mood, anyway, seeing Yang Sheng and Le Tong chatting so effortlessly and harmoniously, he suddenly had the urge to slam the door.
However, he had always been a man whose emotions were not easily displayed. He just glanced at the two lightly, turned around, and walked back, completely forgetting that he had actually gone to find dicine.
Yang Sheng followed Ji Rui inside and closed the door, then sat on the sofa in the reception area behind him.
"What do you need for?"
Ji Rui raised his middle fingers and gently massaged his aching temples. "How did things go on your end?"
Yang Sheng took a closer look at Ji Rui’s face and noticed his complexion wasn’t good.
"Is your headache acting up again?"
Ji Rui blinked in acknowledgnt, rubbed a few tis, and then said, "Forget about that, tell about your side of things."
Yang Sheng nodded, "I just called over there, and the judicial departnt should handle it by tomorrow. Not throwing a birthday party for the baby was indeed a wise decision."
Ji Rui said nothing, bowing his head in concentration on massaging his temples.
Yang Sheng stood up, moved to his back, raised his hands, and helped him with the massage.
"Have you and the baby decided on the itinerary?"
Ji Rui leaned his head back slightly onto the sofa back and closed his eyes slightly.
"No specific itinerary, I plan to take a road trip with the baby, stopping to play wherever we feel like it."
Yang Sheng imdiately agreed, "Tsk, that’s a really good idea. If you didn’t insist I go abroad to clean up the ss, I would want to go with you guys."
Ji Rui, tired, kept his eyes closed but didn’t stop talking.
"Lately, the baby keeps calling a big bad guy. If it were a year ago, I mostly wouldn’t have heard it, but recently it feels painful to hear. Yang Sheng, are we getting old?!"
Yang Sheng looked at the man, so handso and dashing even with his eyes closed. To say he was old from appearance, not at all.
When he talked about getting old, it probably referred to their mindset.
For so many years, the expansion of the Ji Family’s grand vision and the family feuds and struggles had been carried solely by him; saying it wasn’t tiring would be impossible.
Fortunately, he still had Ji Baby! The one who seed like a demon but actually had a delicate heart, the Little Treasure.
"Old, what? The baby is only five, and you’re barely in your early thirties, still in the pri of your life! If President Ji lets out a bit of information, in less than ten seconds, a whole flock of pretty won will be throwing themselves at you, then you’ll know, you’re not old at all!"
Yang Sheng was a bit worried; after all these years, this was the first ti Ji Rui showed weakness in front of him, and the first ti he spoke such dejected words.
"The old man called several tis to plead, and I hung up each ti. Do you think I’m heartless?"
Ji Rui never cared how others judged him. Be it a demon or Satan, it didn’t matter. But this ti, after the old man pleaded several tis, he felt he was being unkind.
"No way! If it were , I’d do exactly the sa thing you did."
Though Yang Sheng and Ji Rui had vastly different personalities, their working thods and thought processes surprisingly clicked.
If not, the two wouldn’t have beco best friends so quickly and effortlessly ten years ago.
