A man who’s pretty decent looking, with a warm and sunny smile, and can cook—he really seems like a good guy, so why is the professor not quite satisfied?
Or could it be that, up till now, the professor is still hoping to match her with Yang Sheng?
Le Tong has never been in a relationship. Although many have pursued her, she’s lived nearly twenty-four years without ever feeling a spark for anyone.
Even though Yang Sheng felt like an old friend at first sight, he still didn’t stir her heart.
Being with Yang Sheng, she feels very relaxed and comfortable, but that flutter between lovers never appears.
Maybe she just hasn’t t the right person yet; or perhaps she has no dreams or expectations about love or the opposite sex, so it’s hard for her to get excited over anyone.
Zhong Hao was busy in the kitchen, while Aunt Qiong sat there cracking lon seeds and asking Le Tong about her recent life.
"Tongtong, are you in love?"
Aunt Qiong’s eyes scanned Le Tong up and down a few tis, looking increasingly concerned, pinched her cheek without waiting for her to answer, and said again.
"Sigh, who mistreated my Tongtong like this? Could it be that rascal Yang Sheng?"
Le Tong couldn’t help rolling her eyes, "Aunt, have you misunderstood? My senior and I are not dating!" Le Tong reiterated once more.
Aunt Qiong leaned in, winked at her, and asked softly, "Then what do you think of Ah Hao?"
It turned out Aunt Qiong’s previous words and actions were just a setup, with the real focus being the chef busy in the kitchen—Zhong Hao.
"Aunt, since when have you beco a matchmaker?"
Le Tong didn’t answer directly. After asking, she bent down, picked up a walnut cookie, took a bite, and sipped so water.
"I won’t need to play matchmaker if you bring a guy back for to see." Aunt Qiong spoke quite bluntly. If she wasn’t clear-headed, Le Tong might’ve mistaken this chubby, kind aunt for her own mom.
"Aunt, these walnut cookies are nice, where did you buy them?" Le Tong played dumb. So answers, after being repeated a few tis, she didn’t want to say anymore.
Aunt Qiong gestured with her chin towards the kitchen, "Ah Hao made them."
Aunt Qiong’s main goal today seed to be promoting Zhong Hao.
Le Tong burst out laughing, "Aunt, is he a chef at a hotel? Or a pastry chef?"
Of course, Le Tong didn’t think Aunt Qiong would introduce her to a chef or pastry chef. She said this only because this man could cook good food and make pastries that looked and tasted great. It’d be a sha if he weren’t a chef or pastry chef.
Aunt Qiong knocked on her head, "You, with such a sharp tongue, no wonder you’re single."
Le Tong stuck out her tongue, "Sharp? I thought I was complinting him?!"
Just then, Zhong Hao brought out a plate of stir-fried vegetables from the kitchen, seemingly having overheard the last part, and joined in with a smile, "Were you complinting ?"
Le Tong felt slightly embarrassed, quickly got up to take the plate, "Wasn’t I talking about you? A handso guy like you who’s also good at cooking is rare in the world."
Zhong Hao handed the plate to Le Tong, then stood watching her place it on the dining table.
"Don’t make fun of , my dad handles all the cooking at ho, so I’ve picked it up from him over ti."
Le Tong turned around to look at Zhong Hao and saw him dressed in casual pants and a relaxed shirt, with the sleeves rolled up casually. Though he was busy in the kitchen, he didn’t have a hint of oil or grease.
Seeing him like this, he seed much more pleasing and handso compared to earlier in the courtyard.
A man like him doesn’t co across as showy or frivolous, and this simple attire with casually rolled sleeves gives off a sense of holy stability and warmth.
"Your mom is really lucky."
Perhaps, whoever becos his woman in the future will be very lucky too.
"My mom’s a simple woman, unlike Miss Le." Zhong Hao said, looking at Le Tong.
"Oh?"
Le Tong raised an eyebrow, "Mr. Zhong, does my forehead say ’not a simple woman’?"
Zhong Hao laughed, "Miss Le seems like the smart and capable type, unlike my mom, who just knows how to play mahjong and drink tea to pass the ti."
Le Tong followed Zhong Hao into the kitchen, feeling it was awkward to just sit and wait for food.
Plus, she’d rather chat with Zhong Hao than face Aunt Qiong’s inquiries.
"There’s nothing wrong with that either; everyone has their own way of life. Besides, I’m not as great as you say. I’m just a secretary, which is just a little better than a janitor."
The kitchen work wasn’t that hard for Le Tong, so when she followed Zhong Hao in, she directly picked up a potato to help peel it.
"I heard from Aunt Qiong that you work at the Ji Family?"
Le Tong proactively helped out, and Zhong Hao welcod it. It was a chance to learn more about Le Tong, and he was happy about that.
"Yeah. Do you want the potatoes cut into strips or pieces?"
"Strips." The two, eting for the first ti, worked seamlessly in the kitchen.
"You ca especially for Aunt Qiong’s birthday, right?"
Zhong Hao poured oil into the pot, added minced garlic, and then took the half-sieve of potato strips from Le Tong.
"Yeah."
They chatted intermittently as they worked, while Aunt Qiong and Professor Liu seed to have a mutual agreent, staying in the living room watching TV without disturbing them.
Together, they quickly got six dishes and a soup on the table.
"Aunt, happy birthday!"
Le Tong stood up and handed a glass of red wine to Aunt Qiong.
"Aunt Qiong, happy birthday!" Zhong Hao also handed his wine glass to Aunt Qiong.
On the table, besides the big chicken that Yang Sheng couldn’t forget, there were fish, shrimp, and crab, mostly Le Tong’s favorites.
"Thank you! Of all the students Liu has taught, you two and that rascal Ah Sheng are the most thoughtful!"
Le Tong looked at Zhong Hao with surprise, "Mr. Zhong, so you’re also the professor’s student?"
Zhong Hao nodded, "Yeah! Didn’t Aunt Qiong and the professor tell you? I thought you knew!"
Le Tong shrugged nonchalantly, "Oh, did they? Maybe I didn’t catch that."
Aunt Qiong shot Professor Liu a glare, "Old Liu, you never ntioned Ah Hao to Tongtong?"
Professor Liu chuckled, "Heh, I was so focused on asking Tongtong about the past half-year, I really forgot to ntion it."
This showed just how insignificant Zhong Hao’s position was in Professor Liu’s mind.
Aunt Qiong threw another glare at Professor Liu, and seeing this, Zhong Hao quickly spoke up to defend the professor.
"It’s really no big deal; the professor not ntioning it gave the chance to introduce myself more to Miss Le."
Aunt Qiong turned to glare at Zhong Hao, "Enough with the ’Miss Le’ and ’Mr. Zhong’, aren’t you two tired from saying it? Listening to it tires out!"
