Lin Ling hurriedly gave a brief rundown of her work to Le Tong, tossed the hot potato back to Le Tong, and then returned to the secretarial departnt.
After Le Tong sat down, she didn’t even pour herself a glass of water before diving into work, until the phone on her desk rang.
She reached out to pick up the receiver, holding it between her shoulder and ear, while her hands continued typing swiftly on the keyboard.
"Hello, this is the Ji Family!"
There was a mont of silence on the other end of the line.
"Hello, this is the Ji Family! Who are you looking for?"
"Looking for you! Co in!" A cold voice, which she hadn’t heard for eight days, ca through the receiver, imdiately making Le Tong feel like she was in the icy world of the Arctic.
Le Tong hung up the phone, entered a large section of data into the computer, and then got up to find Ji Rui.
"President."
Standing in front of Ji Rui’s desk, after being away for a few days, her attitude toward Ji Rui seed noticeably more friendly than before.
However, the president sitting behind the desk was the complete opposite, glaring at her with a clearly unfriendly expression.
"Who allowed you to take a seven-day vacation?" His sharp eyes, like an eagle’s, seed to penetrate her.
Le Tong remained silent, but her eyes t Ji Rui’s with unabashed defiance.
Such was Le Tong, making Ji Rui even more furious.
But even for soone like him, whose inner fire felt like a volcanic eruption, those cold eyes were still chilling to the bone.
"Not only did you take a leave without permission, but you also turned off your phone. What you did is enough for to fire you!"
Recently, Le Tong’s ability to withstand the cold had been particularly strong, especially against the chill exuded by Ji Rui.
"Then fire !" Le Tong said indifferently.
She was already disillusioned with the Ji Family, and had no intention of lingering.
Such a capricious boss was beyond her capacity to serve!
"You!" Even with Ji Rui’s restraint, he felt like coughing up blood from her casual deanor.
Le Tong gave him a bland glance, said, "Goodbye, Mr. Ji!" and then turned on her heel to leave.
"Stop! Where are you going?!" Ji Rui was so angry he almost slamd the table!
Not only within the Ji Family, but even across the country, few dared to be so defiant in front of him, completely disregarding him.
Le Tong paused but didn’t walk back, only turned her head slightly to raise her eyebrows at him, "Going to pack my stuff and get out!"
When it’s co to this, isn’t it better to leave than to stay and grovel?
There was a ti when Le Tong was indeed fond of this job. Because besides the generous salary, it allowed her to learn things she couldn’t in other small companies with Ji Rui.
But she also understood that so things, if they are not ant to be yours, cannot be forced.
Like now, when she realized that the job at the Ji Family no longer belonged to her, she let go freely. She believed that even if she cared about this job, she couldn’t cling to Ji Rui and beg, nor did she deem herself worthy of doing such self-deprecating things!
"Le Tong, don’t think just because you’ve been in my bed, you can manipulate !" Ji Rui chastised, his expression icy.
Le Tong nearly burst out laughing; what sort of mindset did this President Ji have to feel so self-satisfied?!
Speaking of being in his bed, bullshit! She didn’t even know what his bed looked like; otherwise, with how outrageous he was, she’d have pulled out a few bed photos and extorted a big sum; anything less would have been a waste of his "favor"!
"Mr. Ji, do you have delusions? Whatever happened that night, I don’t rember any of it; it’s always you who brings it up, not !"
Le Tong didn’t understand if Ji Rui’s mind was wired differently from others, or if soone as outstanding at work as him was simply eccentric in other aspects!
Ji Rui’s face turned grim, squinting at Le Tong.
"Le Tong, do you dare say you have no intentions toward ? Or did you just shift your target to Yang Sheng when you couldn’t get further with ?"
Ji Rui never forgot the conspicuous cufflinks Yang Sheng wore on his sleeves!
"Ji Rui, it’s enough for you to insult , leave Yang Sheng out of it!"
Le Tong really didn’t expect Ji Rui’s mind could twist things in such an unimaginable way.
"Insulting you? I just think I overestimated you! Tell , do you still consider your boss?"
The content of their conversation was gradually deviating from the main issue, to the point where they both began indulging in personal attacks.
Le Tong laughed abruptly, her face carrying a strong hint of ridicule.
"Ji Rui, I used to treat you well, allowed you to scold and trample on , not because I was weak or cheap, but because I respected you as my boss. Now that you say you’re firing , there’s nothing left between us, and you, Ji Rui, an nothing to anymore!"
After speaking, Le Tong felt relieved!
The suffocating resentnt pent up inside finally got a long release.
Ji Rui opened his mouth to curse, but couldn’t utter a single word, only glaring at her as she walked out.
After Le Tong left, she started packing up her things. Within a few minutes, the sound of the door opening was heard behind her, but this ti, she didn’t get up imdiately to ask what the man needed, she just continued packing.
Footsteps approached, then with a crash, a large pile of docunts was dumped on the desk in front of her.
"Do these according to the requirents!"
Ji Rui stood beside her, commanding in a chilling voice.
Le Tong straightened up, staring directly at Ji Rui’s unfeeling face.
"I’m sorry, I quit!" Le Tong said firmly.
Ji Rui snorted, "Are you ready with three million?!"
Le Tong didn’t expect him to be so shaless; wasn’t he the one who said he wanted to fire her?
"Ji Rui, you were the one who said you wanted to fire , so why should I pay the penalty?" Le Tong gritted through her teeth.
This damned old man, anyone unlucky enough to beco his wife would surely be driven to an early grave by his temper!
Ji Rui crossed his arms, his tense face suddenly relaxed. He was tall by nature, and standing in front of Le Tong, those handso features she had fantasized about nurous tis, were now looking down at her with a touch of disdain.
"I never said I was going to fire you! I only said I could, not that I would fire you!"
It was rare for a man as reticent as President Ji to engage in wordplay.
Le Tong cursed in her mind, what the hell is this?
No doubt, he hadn’t explicitly said she was fired. But wasn’t his intention clearly to scare her?
She was just a small secretary; they keep or fire her, it’s rely a matter of informing HR, why would President Ji go to such lengths?
