Watching the excited Lucilia, Alka imdiately poured cold water on her enthusiasm.
"No. Although that entire basket is filled with discarded puppets, even if we take them all out, there are only about twenty. Among those, only seven are usable Flesh Dolls. And of those seven, only two can be made into puppets like Ling, capable of becoming a Touchable."
After all, the discarded puppets in the basket were from different production iterations, with significant technical gaps between each one. The Ling they had created was a Flesh Puppet almost completely crafted by Alka; it was discarded simply because it wasn’t yet perfect. This ant that at the ti of its creation, it didn’t perfectly et the standard for harmonizing with Lucilia’s soul. However, it was qualified as a basic Flesh Puppet. The Flesh Puppets they had used before were modified from those that hadn’t even t these qualifying standards, so those clearly wouldn’t suffice.
Now, only two qualified Flesh Puppets that et the standard remain; the others can’t even be salvaged for parts.
"With our remaining materials, we can probably create only four to five more. If there’s any loss during the process, the final number will be even lower."
"Alright." Hearing this, Lucilia could only nod helplessly.
"Don’t be discouraged. Once we have more Spells and technology, along with so special materials, we’ll be able to make even more unique puppets. That’s how we’ll truly unleash their potential."
For instance, Alka wanted to create rfolk-type and fish-person-type puppets, which would be more functional in certain aspects than regular humanoid puppets. To be honest, my current technology has only reached a basic level, he thought. More interesting models can be developed slowly later on. A Knight Order, of course, must have various specializations; combining their strengths makes them more formidable. Besides, there are Treasure enhancents that increase the collective power of a Knight Order based on its number of mbers.
Alka planned to give each puppet a different construction, enabling them to be more effective when operating in squads.
After all, creating a legion that perfectly suits one’s desires is incredibly satisfying. The re thought of it is exhilarating!
"Alright, the First Stage of our task is complete. Let’s take this new mber and show her to Chadite and the others," Alka said with a smile.
Lucilia nodded, her expression growing sowhat excited. Then, she dressed Ling in a maid outfit Chadite had previously made. She also borrowed two longswords from Alka, appropriately sized for the puppet, and strapped them to its back.
Alka had a lot of puppet equipnt, all small trinkets he crafted in his spare ti for fun. They were perfect for Lucilia; such small items were easy to make with his Hand of Precision and required very little material. Alka had even engraved several Spells onto the maid outfit, mainly for practice.
I’m not actually very interested in these dress-up outfits, Alka thought, but Chadite and Lucilia sotis have peculiar ideas and ask to help with the engravings. For example, the clothes Lucilia was currently wearing had Spells for Dust Warding, Stealth, and Feather Fall.
If such clothes were to be enlarged, planning where to engrave these three Spells would be very troubleso, and it would also require a lot of materials. They would have to purchase spell-threads and weave them into fabric that had the properties of Spell Materials. But making them just for Lucilia is much simpler. It uses fewer materials, and leather can often be used as a substitute. Moreover, only a single engraving of each Spell is needed. This is the advantage of Lucilia’s small size.
Alka and Lucilia arrived on deck. Facing the long-awaited sunlight, they couldn’t help but squint.
Chadite, who was chatting idly with Julia at the bow of the ship, spotted them. Chadite and Julia walked over.
"Finally decided to co out?" Chadite asked. "Judging by your expressions, it looks like things went well?"
Hearing Chadite’s words, a smile spread across Lucilia’s face. "Hmph hmph, hmph hmph hmph!"
Hearing Lucilia’s smug hum, Chadite turned to look at her more closely. Then she noticed the short, black-haired Puppet Girl in a maid outfit following behind her.
As Chadite looked at this Puppet Girl, Alka saw a light practically burst from her eyes.
Chadite, sowhat incredulous, crouched down, gently reached out, and picked up the puppet.
The Puppet Girl stared at Chadite with an expressionless face and said, "Please put down. I need to be by my master’s side at all tis."
Seeing the Puppet Girl’s appearance and hearing her voice, the light in Chadite’s eyes shone even brighter.
She really programd her as a maid? Alka couldn’t help but cast a curious glance at Lucilia.
"So this is the result of your work during this ti? This is amazing!" Chadite exclaid, her voice filled with excitent as she looked at the puppet she was holding.
Just then, the Puppet Girl began to struggle, the force she exerted growing stronger and stronger. After all, this Puppet Girl’s strength had reached the level of Three Spirals.
Chadite had no choice but to place the puppet back on the deck. Ling then imdiately moved to stand behind Lucilia.
Julia also looked on with interest.
The three won on the ship—Lucilia, Chadite, and Julia—began to chat animatedly about Ling.
After listening for a while, Alka quietly left.
