"Western continent, huh... what kind of place is it?" Rion questioned with curiosity-filled eyes.

Francis cleaned himself using the pond’s water as he answered in a voice heavy with bad mories, "It’s worse than here."

Hearing him, Rion’s lips dropped into a frown, and he asked, "Worse than here? Does it lack a proper civilization?"

Francis shook his head. "No. Not that, the western continent also has four kingdoms, but all of the kings are just vessels of the church that rules over the whole western continent from shadows."

He cupped so of the water within his palms and added, "There... freedom is nothing but an illusion that hides the chains wrapped around our neck."

Rion furrowed his brows. "What do you an?"

Francis lifted his head to the sky and mumbled, "What is the point of living if you aren’t even allowed to do or think by yourself?"

Rion’s jaw tightened as he rembered the barrier that had trapped Dhaevrak within the red and black mountains for centuries.

Francis looked at Rion with a raised eyebrow and asked, "Is sothing wrong? Why are you so silent?"

Rion stared at the pond and asked the question that had been stinging his mind, "Do you know them?"

"Them?" Francis repeated and asked with a tilted head, "Who are you talking about?"

’Of course, he won’t know who I am talking about from sothing so ambiguous as them,’ Rion remarked inwardly and said, "Forget about that... why did you not go to any other continent instead of coming to ours, which is surrounded by a heavy ring of fog?"

Francis nodded and answered with a chuckle, "I had done that. Instead of entering the fog to get myself killed, I had gone to the eastern and northern continents, but they were the sa... they too had their own churches that ruled over them."

"There was simply no other place left for to go... so instead of being controlled by the churches, I devoted myself to the devouring serpent and to the blue moon, and crossed the fog."

"I see..." Rion whispered as he stood up and asked, "Do you really think you are free now?"

Francis blinked. "I haven’t t or heard of any force that controls this continent, so yeah?"

The corners of Rion’s lips lifted, and he muttered, "Why do you think they left this place as it is yet still trapped it within the fog... what do you think made them step back?"

Even though he had asked that, he knew that they weren’t the ones that had covered the southern continent in the fog.

The fog was what kept Dhaevrak safe from them until they found them fifty-seven years ago and launched an attack whose mories still made the tribe mbers tremble in dread.

But if they were once those who had trapped Dhaevrak within the barrier, how did they not know of their location? That was sothing he still couldn’t understand and the only way for him to know was to wait for the three beings that had scared his people.

"What do you an?" Francis muttered with an edged voice.

Rion studied him and said, "They are going to co, and I will be ready to end them."

Francis’s eyes widened beyond belief, and he mumbled with a terrified expression, "They are going to co here...?"

The mories of how his brothers were turned into the church’s mindless swords and how his father had been killed for defiance caused his blood to boil in anger.

But at the sa ti, he rembered the strength that the church held, and the person before him wasn’t even talking about one of them, no... he was talking about an attack from all three churches.

"How are you going to fight them?" He asked in a humorless tone.

Rion looked him in the eye and answered coldly, "I don’t see why I should tell it to soone who isn’t my ally."

Francis fell silent. He stared at Rion’s face with a reluctant expression before he heaved a sigh and said, "You are right, you don’t have to tell ..."

Rion looked at the dipping sun. "What is your answer?"

"What?" Francis’s expression turned puzzled.

"I had asked you if you wish to be free... if you agree, I’ll allow you freedom, and in return you will take to the veiled islands."

Francis stood as is for a few minutes before he let out a chuckle and said, "You are asking the obvious. Why would I let go of such an opportunity? I’ll take you to the veiled islands, and once we are there, we’ll forget about ever having seen one another."

"Alright then." Rion offered his hand to Francis and said, "Let’s shake hands to seal the deal."

Francis burst into laughter and grabbed Rion’s hand. "It’s a deal."

Rion smiled, and the next mont, both of them vanished.

They appeared within the prison, and Rion let go of his hand.

His eyes drifted between the pirates, and he comnted, "Make sure your n know the deal and can leave the next morning."

"Alright." Francis nodded, and Rion teleported.

Francis stared at the empty spot and mumbled, "These tricks won’t be enough to fight the churches... they are not sothing humans can fight."

Rion appeared at the duke’s villa, and seeing him, Zaelyane questioned, "How did it go?"

He looked at her and answered with a nod, "You were right about him being from the other continents... he did tell so things but they didn’t answer what I truly wanted to know."

"He won’t know about them," Zaelyane added. "They are at the zenith of strength, they do not move to deal with every other person... they only give importance to other races and Dhaevrak because of the prophecies that hint at their end."

"I understand that... I was just hoping to finally learn about them, but it seems I’ll only know when they move to deal with us once again."
