"So? What’s the most recent story you read? The one you liked."
Lucian questioned with a curious look on his face.
"Hmm, I don’t rember the na, but it was sothing about a civil engineer who reincarnates into an old world as a noble and uses his engineering knowledge to build stuff."
Evelyn laughed, recalling the manhwa she read.
"Ah, I know that one. It was hilarious."
Lucian nodded, completely relating to her.
"It was, right!?"
Evelyn’s eyes shone.
The two continued their conversation, completely ignoring Alaric, who was sitting in the front seat.
Yes, the tables had indeed turned.
Not that Alaric cared, he only focused on the comm.
[Route Two is clear. Switching to entrance B.]
Clara’s voice ca from the other side.
"Confird."
Alaric nodded.
And Lucian, while still continuing his conversation with Evelyn, spread his senses and looked around.
The team had already been divided, he was together with Evelyn, Alaric and one of Evelyn’s normal guards was with them, driving their car.
Clara and Sarah were in a car behind them, Elise and Lila were in a different one. Lucian wasn’t told what their roles were, neither did he know who would be positioned where—
But he didn’t care—
He wanted to complete this mission alone in the first place—
So like his team, he too, decided to ignore them and spread his own senses, looking around, taking note of every single thing he saw.
"What about the one that’s on the rise these days? The necromancer one? Have you read that?"
Evelyn asked with bright eyes.
"Heh, I read it before the manhwa was completed, I completed the story from the novel."
Lucian grinned.
"You did? How old is that novel?"
"I don—"
Lucian was about to answer, but then—
"Miss Starling, when we arrive, you will enter through the private side entrance. You are not allowed to take any stops or photos."
Alaric spoke with a serious look on his face.
"Alright."
Evelyn nodded, before quickly turning back to Lucian.
"What were you saying?"
"..."
Alaric watched the two continue their conversation as if he didn’t exist, then, he turned back and focused on the road ahead.
The car slowed down, a building ca into view. A large studio complex with bright signs, glass walls, security gates, and several people waiting near the main entrance. Fans were already here, holding signs with Evelyn’s na or picture, even though there was no public announcent.
Lucian looked at them, that excitent, that energy, tens of caras, lights that flashed in his eyes—
"That looks... overwhelming."
Lucian comnted.
"You get used to it."
Evelyn smiled gently.
"You do?"
Lucian raised his eyebrow.
"Well... sowhat?"
Evelyn tilted her head.
"You really are a superstar huh, Miss Starling."
Lucian couldn’t help but comnt.
"I told you before, stop calling that.
You call Evelyn."
"I am trying to keep a professional image here."
"You?"
Evelyn looked at him with a deadpan look on her face, even she didn’t believe those words.
"Oh co on~
Not you too."
Lucian almost cried.
"You call Evelyn or I’ll...
I’ll request Voss Security to take your phone away and give you one that doesn’t let you read novels."
She threatened and Lucian...
He blinked at those words.
"I saved your life..."
"The world can be cruel, boy."
Evelyn grinned.
"You know what to do."
Lucian looked at her, then he sighed and gave in.
"Evelyn."
"Good boy."
Evelyn nodded.
Alaric’s mouth twitched during the entire interaction, but he didn’t show it.
The car did not stop near the crowd, it turned into a side lane and entered through a staff gate. Clara had already replaced the security here with her people, two n in black opened the gate, then closed it the mont the cars passed.
The car stopped behind the studio.
Others were already there, Alaric stepped out of the car, so did Lucian. This was the back entrance, Lucian didn’t have the security map like others did, but he had his senses.
He looked around, at the two security doors, the cara on the left, a narrow alley beside the building, three studio staff mbers waiting near the entrance, two ordinary bodyguards near the second car.
It was clear.
There were no obvious threats.
No obvious threats.
Once he confird that, he turned and offered Evelyn his hand.
"My lady~"
He grinned.
Evelyn laughed, as she took his hand and stepped out of the car.
And the mont she did—
Lucian watched her face change in real ti, the casual, laughing face was now gone, her smile was still there but it was far far more graceful now.
"Oh my God..."
"It really is her..."
The staff mbers waiting at the entrance straightened almost imdiately when they saw her, their eyes widened in awe and disbelief.
Even when they knew she was coming, seeing her standing in front of them was still unbelievable.
"She’s... so beautiful."
"It’s unreal..."
Evelyn looked at them and they instantly moved their heads, embarrassed at how they were gawking at her like fools.
"Good evening."
Evelyn greeted them politely.
"G-Good evening."
One of them managed to utter out the words, the other two could only nod.
Lucian raised his eyebrow at that, to think just two words from her could make those three freeze. He knew this woman was popular, but this popular? It was honestly absurd.
He couldn’t help but stare at her for a while and as if sensing his gaze, she looked at him and smiled.
Lucian blinked for a mont.
She...
She really was beautiful.
"Move."
That was when Alaric commanded, Lucian ca out of his montary reverie as the group moved and entered through the backdoor.
"So this is a studio huh..."
Lucian muttered as he looked around.
The hallway was bright, clean, and busy, people moved with clipboards, caras, cables, headsets, makeup kits, coffee cups, and nervous faces.
Of course, the mont Evelyn entered, everything changed.
The people rushing just a second ago slowed down, so pretended not to stare, others didn’t even try. A woman carrying a stack of papers walked straight into a wall and almost dropped everything.
Lucian looked at her.
Then at Evelyn and—
"Tell , are you a demon?"
He couldn’t help but ask out loud.
