Chapter 778

"Happy to see you all, but let's save the talk for later. Where is the Commander?"

Amidst the slightly tired but smiling mbers from the capital, a tall woman stepped forward to ask. It was Ever, with her long brown hair tightly tied up.

"Hmm... The Commander is probably in the temporary office, having finished the morning's schedule."

Ever learned the location of Kishiar's temporary office from the mbers of the southern branch. After expressing her thanks, she strode ahead, followed by a procession of those from the capital, a sight to behold.

"Who are those people? They're reinforcents from the capital?"

The southern passersby and the imperial army, hearing belatedly of the support from the capital, watched from afar and whispered excitedly.

To their eyes, the newly arrived Cavalry mbers appeared exceptionally disciplined and impressive. However, not everyone fit this description.

"How splendid... But who are those following behind?"

An elderly woman, seemingly too old for such a journey, and a chubby-faced young mage struggling with a large cart of luggage, including the old woman's.

Trailing them was a young man with ashen hair and a face full of discontent, kicking at the ground as if angry, followed by a young priest offering words of comfort with a smile.

Beside the priest walked a petite woman with striking golden-brown bobbed hair and, in contrast, a tall, red-haired man of remarkable beauty. They were both protectively surrounding soone completely covered in robes from head to toe.

The bobbed-haired woman and red-haired man, clad in Cavalry uniforms, walked at the very end of the line, their detachnt from the others piquing the curiosity of onlookers.

The people, sending curious glances, were startled when the ashen-haired man suddenly turned his head, catching their gaze.

"What are you looking at?"

"Ah..."

Startled by his fierce tone, the onlookers turned away like a herd of herbivores encountering a predator. The disgruntled man then suddenly raised an eyebrow and gestured towards soone. Ȑ𝒶NỔ₿Ëș

"Hey, you with the antlers."

", ?"

The one he pointed to was Elpkins, who had hurried to see the newly arrived Cavalry mbers from the capital. He was startled by the man's sudden attention.

"Yes, you. What's with that look?"

"He didn't an any harm, just... curious... Sorry if he offended you... Sorry!"

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

Elpkins found the frowning man's handso face intimidating, nearly bringing him to tears, when the priest intervened.

"Sir Enon, please. Your words can be frightening. The gentleman looks unwell. What happened to him?"

"Isn't that what I just said?"

"When?"

"Just now."

"No, you didn't. Look at his face. He didn't understand. We might be used to your way of speaking, Sir Enon, but it's hard for newcors. Ask Kanna and Gakane who's right..."

"Fine, fine. The kid thinks she's grown enough to lecture ."

What seed like a helping hand was not so. The young priest, though appearing kind, was verbose. anwhile, Elpkins and the others around him lowered their heads, diminishing their presence, and dispersed.

Elpkins, conspicuous with his wings and horns, could not bear to make himself more noticeable. He swallowed his plea for them to just leave him alone, tears welling up inside, and rely grumbled to himself.

That was when his savior appeared.

"...Enon?"

"Sir Yuder!"

"Yuder!"

From behind Elpkins, a savior erged. The resplendent savior who had saved his life before appeared again today, immaculately dressed, with a pale face that never showed a drop of sweat.

He imdiately grasped the situation, seeing Elpkins, bewildered and on the verge of tears, and clicked his tongue sharply.

"Rest first before you start working. Don't just jump into tasks."

"I was going to, but look at him. What's with him? Why does he look so beaten? Did you pick him up from sowhere, after he nearly died ten tis?"

Hearing this, Yuder turned to Elpkins and after a mont of silence, spoke.

"Almost. He's one of the Awakeners who escaped from an illegal fighting ring. He applied for and passed the second phase of our Cavalry recruitnt."

Elpkins, unable to fully comprehend their words, was confused. He felt fine, having received a lot of divine power since escaping the fighting ring, and couldn't understand why they thought he was in bad shape. He timidly raised his hand.

"Um, I'm not hurt at all... Can't I just go...?"

"I knew it!"

His timid voice, about to ask if he could leave, was instantly shattered by Enon's exclamation. Enon looked at Elpkins with disdain, clicking his tongue.

"When I ca in, I saw plenty like him, but he's the worst of them all! We're in trouble now!"

", sir...?"

"Is he treatable?"

Ignoring Elpkins, Yuder asked.

"It'll take ti, but it's not impossible. Anyone you bring is better than you. Why call from outside the capital when I told you not to? You keep bringing in such cases...!"

"It's not just for that."

"What! What else are you planning!"

The scary handso man was rciless even towards Elpkins' savior. Elpkins gasped as he watched Enon stretch Yuder's cheek. It was a shocking sight for him, though Yuder's expression remained unchanged.

"Gulp..."

"You'll see that often, so it's better to get used to it."

Then, soone patted his back from behind. It was a woman with bobbed hair. Her bright green eyes seed cheerful and innocent, yet piercing, making Elpkins slightly shrink back.

"Don't be scared. They're not bad people. That's Enon, the sole official pharmacist of the Cavalry, and that priest is Lusan, the only one in the dical unit. The redhead is Gakane Bolunwald from the Shin Division, and I am Kanna Wand, the Deputy Commander of the Jung Division. Knowing who they are makes it less scary, right?"

The identity of the person caught in the middle, covered from head to toe in a robe, was cleverly kept secret, but Elpkins had no intention of paying attention to that.

"Uh... Ah... Yes..."

"And you, escaping from an illegal fighting ring and then imdiately joining the second batch of recruitnt, that's impressive. Yuder recognizing your skills ans we can expect great things from you!"

Confused, Elpkins couldn't recall any ntion of Yuder praising his abilities. Yet, he naively nodded in agreent.

"Yes, I was fortunate. Thank you..."

"It wasn't just luck. You had the fate and skill to achieve such a good outco."

The one who spoke was Gakane, who stood silently beside Kanna. Elpkins, intimidated by his striking appearance, which differed markedly from Enon's, felt a surge of emotion upon seeing his benevolent smile.

"Is that so...?"

"Yes. Enon's current behavior is rely out of concern for your physical condition, wanting to heal you. So, don't be afraid, you can comfortably return. You may think you are fully recovered, but Enon has a keen eye for identifying those in need of treatnt."

Kanna, with a secretive smile, shared this as a little secret among the Cavalry mbers, calling it Enon's 'Magical Eyes.' Even in his bewildered state, Elpkins managed a clumsy smile in response.

"Ha ha..."

"Anyway, don't worry. If needed, Enon will call for you later."

"I see... Thank you! Then, I'll take my leave now."

Elpkins turned and left them behind. Fortunately, no one called out to stop him. Glancing back midway, he saw Kanna comfortably embracing Yuder and linking arms with Gakane, while Enon stood watching them, arms crossed and a sulky expression on his face.

Truthfully, Elpkins had no idea why the Commander had insisted on bringing them from the capital, nor what plans lay ahead, but seeing them, he felt as if he understood sothing.

Yuder's expression was entirely different when he was with others from the south. He was always thought to be indistinguishable due to his constant, similar expressionlessness, but that was not the case.

Even for soone as formidable as Yuder, a divine ssenger of war, 'support' was clearly necessary. That must be why these people were here.

Just watching them filled Elpkins with a sense of reassurance. He left the place more swiftly and with lighter steps than before.

It was a morning event on the first day the Cavalry mbers descended from the capital to Charloin in the south.

In the autumn of his 18th year, after winning the high school kendo championship finals, an unexpected accident occurred.

Due to that incident, Kang Mu-heon lost one of his legs, his closest friend, and his promising future. He closed off his heart and shut himself away alone.

A few years later, the world's first real virtual reality ga was announced, where even those with physical disabilities could play in healthy bodies.

By chance, Kang Mu-heon encountered it and began a new life as the mage Kapros, facing unexpected etings, reunions, and days of change....

"Why was soone like you born into this world to make so miserable? Do you understand when I say it like this?! You were born with talent for the sword, a bright personality, everything - you must have been laughing at always lagging behind! Did you even know how pathetic I felt because of your stupid hypocrisy? A genius? What does any of that matter!"

Seung-jo's cries stabbed at his heart, wailing as if he were crying even though he wasn't, but there was no ti to think further. He quickly clutched my stomach, got up, and ran towards him.

He looked surprised for a mont, but he was desperate.

Just as the car was about to reach us, he shoved Seung-jo hard. Right after Seung-jo fell and rolled away with wide, startled eyes—

Screech!

Bang! With an impact that felt like his whole body was being shattered, he flew through the air.

And in that brief yet long mont of floating in space, he rembered his reflection in Seung-jo's eyes for the last ti.......

[ Then in THE MIST, may you beco the master of infinite possibilities. ]

Whoosh!

When his vision returned after everything went white, he was standing in the middle of a bustling town. Amidst the clamor, countless people were busily going about their business here and there.

He looked down at himself, standing dazed and wearing clothes of unknown origin. When he touched the sleeve, he felt the texture of fabric as real as reality. His hair felt the sa, and even when he touched the wall of a nearby house, he could clearly feel the solid, cold surface.

Is this... VT?

It seed like a joke. It truly felt as if he had co to another world and was touching everything.

As he stood there unable to think due to the shock, he suddenly rembered the biggest reason he had decided to play this ga, and snapped back to attention. His two legs were still as they had been when he first stood.

'Can I really walk?'

He first stepped out with his left foot, then very slowly put strength into his heavy right foot. It felt like cold sweat was running down his spine.

And then,

He lifted it,

Moved it,

And took another step to touch the ground again.

So easily. As if there had never been any problem with this leg from the beginning.

"Ah..."

At that mont, sothing that was neither joy nor emotion shot up his spine. Suddenly feeling a lump in his throat, he lowered his head and leaned against the wall. His right foot, bearing his weight, was doing its job perfectly.

"..."

Holding back the tightness in his throat, he took another step.

It didn't hurt. It wasn't heavy. His leg was no longer a useless piece of wood that ached.

Damn it, to be able to walk so easily like this.

To be able to run so easily like this.

He had wished even in his dreams for the day to co when he could walk and run like this again.

And so he walked again, kept walking, slowly getting faster, until finally he started running like a madman through the entire town.

"Kap. ...There seems to be a misunderstanding. That's not what I ant."

Just as he was thinking he should throw a punch, Yu-wan sighed with a troubled look and said.

A misunderstanding? How could it be a misunderstanding when he said with his own mouth that he didn't think of as a friend?

"I didn't expect to receive such a question suddenly, so my explanation was probably too brief. Let rephrase."

Yu-wan reached out his hand, his face completely changed from before - intense yet resolute - as he stared at him. As he didn't reject the hand suddenly approaching his face and kept his gaze fixed, his cool large hand touched his cheek completely.

A shiver ran down his spine at that mont.

"I'm sorry to say this to you, but I don't see you only as a friend. ...This is the complete answer."

Check out the new project 2:
