Volu 1 The False Heaven

Chapter 1 Crimson Moon

Sun City — Xu Family Rooftop

For two peaceful days, Sun City remained lively as always.

The streets stayed crowded from morning until night while rchants loudly sold spirit herbs, beast at, and cheap cultivation manuals near the market square. Cultivators drank inside roadside taverns while children chased each other through narrow alleys without a single worry in the world.

Ordinary.

Peaceful.

Xu Yuan liked days like this.

At least peaceful days ant fewer problems.

Night slowly covered Sun City beneath warm lantern lights.

Xu Yuan sat lazily atop his family's rooftop while staring at the crimson moon above the city.

The evening breeze felt comfortable tonight.

Not too cold.

Not too warm.

Perfect weather for doing absolutely nothing.

"You skipped dinner again."

A familiar voice ca from below.

Xu Yuan smiled before even turning around.

"You brought food anyway."

Xia Yu climbed onto the rooftop while holding a wooden food box carefully in both hands.

Silver hair softly reflected beneath the moonlight while loose white robes moved gently in the wind.

Beautiful.

Honestly too beautiful for a small city like Sun City.

And fortunately for Xu Yuan—

she was his fiancée.

"You ca late," Xu Yuan complained.

"You said that yesterday too."

"And I'll say it tomorrow too."

"You talk too much."

Xu Yuan laughed softly while Xia Yu calmly sat beside him.

The two had known each other since childhood.

Training together.

Eating together.

Growing up together.

And sleeping together.

Well—

nothing happened by the way.

Their families simply stopped caring after several years because the two were already officially engaged anyway.

Eventually it just beca normal.

Xia Yu quietly opened the food box.

Warm aroma instantly spread through the rooftop.

Xu Yuan's eyes imdiately brightened.

"Braised spirit chicken?"

"You complained last ti the soup tasted bland."

"I was testing your cooking skills."

"You almost licked the bowl clean."

"…That's unrelated."

A faint smile appeared briefly on Xia Yu's face.

Small.

But real.

Xu Yuan noticed it imdiately.

He always did.

The two quietly ate together beneath the moonlight while distant noises from the city echoed softly below them.

Comfortable silence naturally filled the rooftop.

Neither needed to force conversation anymore.

Just staying beside each other already felt relaxing.

Suddenly—

a loud argunt erupted from the tavern street below.

"You sold fake pills again!"

"Then stop buying the cheapest ones!"

CRASH!

Several nearby people imdiately started cheering as chairs flew outside the tavern entrance.

Xu Yuan leaned over the rooftop edge casually.

"Beautiful."

Xia Yu calmly continued eating.

"You sound proud."

"I am proud."

A cold breeze quietly passed through the rooftop.

Several spirit birds crossed above the moonlit sky unusually late before disappearing beyond the distant mountains.

Xu Yuan watched them briefly before looking away again.

Probably hunters returning late.

"Your father asked about your cultivation again today," Xia Yu suddenly said.

Xu Yuan sighed dramatically.

"Can't we enjoy one peaceful night without talking about cultivation?"

"You're already seventeen."

"That hurt."

"It's true."

Xu Yuan lazily rested both hands behind his head again.

"I'll cultivate tomorrow."

"You said that yesterday too."

"…Why do I suddenly feel attacked tonight?"

Below them, Sun City continued glowing peacefully beneath countless lantern lights.

Spirit carriages moved slowly through crowded streets while distant music echoed from restaurants and tea halls.

For a mont—

everything felt calm.

Simple.

Like life would continue this way forever.

Much later that night—

Xu Yuan finally returned to his room.

Moonlight quietly entered through the window while distant city noises slowly faded away.

Beside him, Xia Yu already slept peacefully while lightly holding the edge of his sleeve unconsciously.

That habit started years ago.

Neither rembered exactly when.

Xu Yuan quietly closed his eyes.

Then—

darkness.

Cold underground chambers.

Black crystals glowing endlessly beneath enormous formation circles.

A young child silently lying inside a broken formation.

And within the blurry darkness—

a woman's trembling voice echoed softly.

"My son… your mother and father are waiting for—"

CRASH!

The dream shattered instantly.

Xu Yuan suddenly opened his eyes beneath the crimson moon outside.
