"What’s the matter?"
David Dalton sat down in his office chair and looked at him calmly.
The finance director stood in front of the desk and said, "Last night at midnight, the Kingston Group transferred eight million to our company account. What’s this transaction about?"
David Dalton was slightly taken aback, "Are you certain?"
"Absolutely, I wouldn’t make this up. I checked it several tis, and it’s confird to be an entry from the Kingston Group."
"Alright, I understand."
After saluting, the finance director left.
For company transactions, notifications are usually received in advance, such as for partnership funds.
This eight million is truly baffling!
But David Dalton understood; it’s likely the compensation for the design contract from the previous company. However, this sum shouldn’t be coming from the Kingston Group.
CEO Kingston is helping him recognize his daughter, so why would he reimburse him again for such a significant favor?
Thus, David Dalton picked up the phone and dialed Justin Kingston’s private number.
At that mont, Justin Kingston had just dropped Mia Lane off at the Dalton Group building. His domineering Lamborghini had just taken off, and seeing the caller ID, he found it appropriate to take the call.
His long fingers swiped the answer button, "Good morning, President Dalton." Justin Kingston seldom greeted people proactively, but this person was different, his father-in-law!
"Good morning, CEO Kingston." David Dalton got straight to the point, "Why did you transfer eight million? I can’t justify this! I paid this money willingly."
"I paid it willingly too." Justin Kingston, driving his car, had a hint of gentleness in his eyes, "Think of it as , the son-in-law, showing filial piety to you. Doesn’t that make the transaction more acceptable?"
"I..."
"Alright, I’m driving, it’s not convenient to talk," Justin Kingston said, "The word ’dad’ will be said one day. I just dropped Mia off downstairs; she should be out of the elevator soon."
Just as Justin Kingston hung up, David Dalton saw Mia Lane pass by the door.
"Hello, President Dalton."
She purposely paused at the door for two seconds to greet him inside.
"Hello, President Lane." David Dalton put down the phone and quickly reacted.
Thus, David Dalton couldn’t return the eight million; he could only keep it as returning it could potentially anger Justin Kingston.
"It’s not just about the taste of the mooncakes; the gift box design must be innovative and eye-catching," Trevor said, walking into the office while on a call, "If necessary, increase the budget a bit. We can’t have employees picking faults."
David Dalton glanced at the calendar, realizing it would be the Mid-Autumn Festival in a few days.
Ti flies so quickly.
Trevor had recently been busy arranging Mid-Autumn gift boxes for the company employees, comparing several mooncake companies attentively, treating both big and small matters with equal care.
"President Dalton." After hanging up the phone, Trevor walked over to him, "Should the Mid-Autumn gifts for President Lane and the others be a bit more special?"
Trevor thought that just one box of mooncakes seed a bit scant.
"I’ll personally select gifts for the six of them," David Dalton looked up and said, "You handle the other tasks."
Personally selecting them??
Trevor was taken aback, "..." The president’s schedule was fully packed.
"Is there a problem?" David Dalton t his gaze.
He knew he’d been acting unusually lately, and Trevor had so questions, but David Dalton didn’t want to explain.
"CEO Kingston just transferred eight million, covering our prepaynts and penalties," David Dalton said, "Isn’t it normal to choose a good Mid-Autumn gift?"
"Normal," Trevor said, "What’s unusual is that you’re personally attending to such a minor task."
"President Lane’s status is special. There’s no small task with her; they’re all major tasks," he said, "Everything we do will be noted by CEO Kingston."
Indeed!
So Trevor said nothing more, just nodded.
