Who is this person?
What does he want to do?
Is he here for a paternity test?
Is he one of Dad’s people?
Is Dad suspecting... Ethan isn’t his biological son?
No, this isn’t one of Dad’s people!
Sean Dalton analyzed calmly. Even if Dad wanted to take a sample, he wouldn’t need to go through so much trouble. Dad could do it at ho without anyone knowing.
So... is he soone sent by Justin Kingston??
Sean Dalton was startled! She braced her hands on the sink’s edge as if all the strength had been drained from her body.
Staring at her pale face in the mirror, she montarily lost her breath.
The next second, she took out her phone to call her mother. The ringtone rang on and on...
Just when she thought her mother wouldn’t answer, the ringtone stopped.
Joan Graham’s voice ca through, "Didn’t I say? Whatever I do is none of your business! Don’t interfere!"
"Mom, is Ethan Dalton your biological child with Dad?" Sean Dalton asked directly, urgently wanting to know the answer.
But Joan was stunned by the question! She raised her voice in anger, "Sean Dalton! What do you an? Do you know what you’re saying?!"
"Mom!" Sean Dalton also raised her voice, "A stranger just ca to our house and took Ethan Dalton’s toothbrush. I suspect Justin Kingston wants a paternity test!"
"Let him do it then!" Joan Graham showed no fear, "He is David’s child! That’s an unchangeable fact, even the Jade Emperor can’t do anything about it!"
"Mom..."
"Alright, I’m almost there. From now on, don’t call ! Just wait for my good news!"
With that, Joan hung up the call.
Sean Dalton squinted slightly. Her mother’s firm words suggested that Ethan is indeed her father’s son?
Joan’s taxi stopped by a patch of reeds in the suburbs.
She paid and got out of the car, watching it drive away.
Soon, a black SUV ca into view, approaching her and stopping in front.
"Joan, get in the car." A man’s head popped out from the driver’s seat.
Joan got into the car, and it continued moving forward. Her heart was heavy, only able to take one step at a ti.
Shortly, the car stopped in front of a seemingly abandoned factory building.
Joan got out, and the man walked with her into the factory.
He seed familiar with the place, clearly not his first ti there.
Upstairs, the Syrian-style decor, the space was large and tidy, clearly inhabited.
She imdiately spotted a man sitting with crossed legs on the terrace, only his back visible, with two subordinates standing behind him.
The driver led Joan forward.
"Boss, Joan is here."
The man rely raised a hand in a simple gesture; the subordinates behind him, including the driver, saluted and left.
In the vast expanse of the second floor, only the two of them remained.
Joan stepped forward a few more steps and sat down in the chair beside him.
John Jennings turned his gaze, coldly staring at her, "Did you co to see empty-handed?"
"I need your help to save your daughter," Joan t his eyes, showing deep sadness and helplessness.
"Huh."
Unexpectedly, John lit a cigarette, speaking heartlessly, "I have many daughters, all needing saving. Can I save them all?"
Yes, he was the scoundrel who left seeds everywhere.
"..." Joan stared at him, unwavering.
"Joan, you haven’t done a single thing I asked you to do." John took a hard drag on his cigarette, "If you don’t have the Jade Pendant, don’t talk terms with ."
Joan opened her bag, took out half of the Jade Pendant, and placed it on the coffee table, "Here’s half of it. I will get the other half soon because I already know where it’s at."
John didn’t eagerly grab the Jade Pendant, still coldly staring at her, trying to discern sothing from her expression.
Joan seed to withstand the scrutiny, saying, "I’m not lying to you. This half of the Jade Pendant is David Garcia’s, genuine, and I took it from his study drawer."
