No one knew how heartbroken she was, that tearing pain.
The bright full moon hung high in the sky as Monica Usher lifted her eyes to gaze above, taking a deep breath and suppressing the sorrow within her.
Yet still, two silent tears fell.
So much ti had passed, but her love for Justin Kingston hadn’t diminished at all, while her hatred for Mia Lane increased day by day!
But Monica Usher had no choice; she was now pregnant, a mber of a vulnerable group.
For the safety of her child, she couldn’t confront Mia Lane head-on, yet she felt unwilling.
She constantly had the urge to kill Mia!
At the Dalton family villa, without Joan Graham and Sean Dalton, it didn’t feel deserted.
After dinner, David Dalton went upstairs, entered the study, and sat at the desk, pulling open a drawer.
Inside were two contracts, a bank card, and so other valuable items, but the Jade Pendant was missing.
"Who would she give the Jade Pendant to?"
This question kept troubling David Dalton, as he knew nothing about John Jennings’s existence.
At that mont, Trevor’s call ca in.
David Dalton answered, "Hello, Trevor."
"President Dalton, Madam took the Jade Pendant and got into a taxi. We’ve tracked the route, and from the roadside surveillance, the taxi stopped in the suburbs."
Trevor continued, "I’ve contacted the taxi driver too, and indeed he took her to the suburbs."
"But when I followed the taxi driver to that location, all around were vast fields of reeds, and it was at a crossroads, very desolate."
Hearing this, David Dalton furrowed his brows.
Trevor said, "I suspect Madam changed cars later, or soone t up with her, but we’ve checked her call records, and she made no calls that day. Is it possible she has two cards? Or... the card isn’t under her na?"
This made David Dalton uneasy, and he concluded, "I think this isn’t as simple as losing a Jade Pendant. There should be a deeper conspiracy."
"President Dalton, from now on, I’ll be guarding your safety," Trevor volunteered.
David Dalton wasn’t concerned for himself, "I need to tell Stella about this and urge her to be careful because she holds the other half of the Jade Pendant."
After hanging up, he hesitated, thinking Stella might be busy?
The children had returned to the country.
Anyway, they would et tomorrow, so he decided to tell her about the Jade Pendant’s unification then.
At night, the moon shone intoxicatingly bright.
Monica Usher returned ho with a heart full of disappointnt, sitting on the sofa in a dour mood, her thoughts lingering at Erald Cove.
"Mrs. Goldman." She lifted her eyes and softly spoke, "Could you sit with for a while?"
"Would you like so tea?"
She shook her head; just having soone to talk to would be enough.
Suddenly, Monica Usher felt she had a lot she wanted to say.
"Yeah." Mrs. Goldman responded, sitting down on the sofa opposite her, "Do you have sothing you want to say to ? Feel free; I’m listening."
She shook her head, "It’s not about instructions, I’m just feeling a bit stifled and want to chat with soone."
Mrs. Goldman slightly lifted the corners of her lips, "Mhm, chatting can be good."
"Have you ever loved soone?" Monica Usher looked at her and gently asked.
Talking about love with a fifty-year-old middle-aged woman?
Mrs. Goldman was indeed montarily stunned, not knowing how to respond and feeling a bit awkward.
"That feeling when any random buzz on your phone makes you think it’s a ssage from him." Monica Usher wore a faint bitter smile, "Excitedly picking up the phone, only to find it’s just a spam ssage."
"That kind of inner gap, repeated countless tis day after day, yet still full of hope..."
"That feeling, that painful tornt, is probably what it feels like to love soone." Monica Usher fought back tears, "Able to humble oneself into the dust."
