Ian Shelby said nothing, just looked at her, then turned and left.
His tall and slender figure in the clean and neat white coat exuded professionalism and competence, making him seem almost radiant.
Jocelyn Morgan stayed alone in the ward, leaning against the headboard, taking in her surroundings.
Outside in the corridor, the lights were bright, and occasionally doctors or family mbers walked past the door, ensuring she wouldn’t feel afraid.
Just when she idly picked up her phone, Ian Shelby entered.
Jocelyn looked up, "..."
"Here." Ian handed her the ultra-thin laptop.
The girl imdiately recognized it as the one from his desk, most likely his personal computer.
"Full battery, can last for six hours," Ian said to her, "but don’t touch any of the files inside."
Jocelyn thought for a mont, reached out to take it, "Thank you, Dr. Shelby." She did need a computer.
At this ti, Vera Ford’s car ca to a stop downstairs at the hospital.
In a good mood, she got out of the car with a thermal bag and saw a familiar vehicle parked not far away. Great, Ian was still here.
Vera quickly entered the hospital lobby, heading toward the elevator amidst the crowd.
"Hello, Dr. Ford."
"Isn’t Dr. Ford off duty?"
"I made soup for Dr. Shelby," Vera lifted the bag with a smile, "He’s working overti today."
Oh~ The colleagues seed to understand! A perfect match!
"I’ll head off now!" Vera waved her hand eagerly and headed toward the elevator.
When she took the elevator up and arrived at the entrance of Ian Shelby’s consultation room, she saw him taking off his white coat and hanging it up.
"Ian." Vera bead.
Ian turned his eyes, "Why are you here?" His hands still carried things.
Vera put the bag on his desk, taking out a ward bowl as she spoke, "I went to the supermarket after work today, bought so fresh ingredients, and cooked als for you at ho, also made soup."
Ian wasn’t very moved, "You don’t need to go through all this trouble."
"Oh co on, it’s rare for you to be off early!" Vera took out a spoon and chopsticks. "But who would have thought that plans could change?"
Ian washed his hands by the sink, turning on the faucet.
"Quick, co eat dinner, then we’ll go back together later," Vera said happily, "Try my cooking."
"Is there more at ho?" Ian dried his hands with a towel.
"Yes, I only brought you a small portion, there’s more for a late-night snack, I’ve kept it all warm."
"Okay." Ian headed over.
Vera suddenly noticed, "Hey, where’s your computer?" It was his most treasured possession; he practically carried it everywhere.
Ian remained calm, not at all panicked, and didn’t answer her question.
He picked up the bowl and chopsticks from the table, saying casually, "I gave it to a friend, I’ll go back with you to eat." Then he stepped outside without looking at Vera.
"..." Vera abruptly turned, quickly following him.
Friend?? What friend? She had many questions.
And quite unwilling, considering the effort and ti she spent making this al especially for him! How could it be given to soone else?
Vera followed Ian to the neighboring ward, seeing a girl sitting at the head of the bed, engrossed in typing on his beloved computer.
"Dr. Shelby."
Upon hearing footsteps, Jocelyn looked up and saw a girl behind him, soone she recognized from a previous picnic, although they hadn’t interacted, she knew who she was.
Vera felt like there was a fly stuck in her heart, unsettling her! But a high-level player like her maintained a smile, "Hello, what’s wrong with you? Feeling unwell sowhere?"
