Vera Ford has been in Riventhal for so long, and spent such a long ti with Ian; he’s always been cold and indifferent to people, except for Mia Lane.
But now, he also shows an unusual enthusiasm towards won other than Mia.
"How’s the house hunting going?" Ian asked her as the car sped along halfway.
Vera snapped back to her senses, turned her eyes toward him, and still maintained a dignified deanor.
But feeling his urging once more, she felt a bit down. "Still looking." With a smile on her face, she appeared not at all embarrassed, and said, "I want to live closer to the hospital, but I also hope the rent can be a bit cheaper."
"I’ve found one for you, I’ll take you to see it tomorrow afternoon," Ian inford her. "You don’t need to worry about the rent. The hospital will subsidize 50%, as long as you’re satisfied with the layout and comfortable living there."
What does this an?
Eager to get her out, yet willing to pay half of her rent?
Does he care for her or not?
Clearly his villa is so large, it could easily house ten Vera Fords!
However, Vera is still willing to think positively. After pondering, she softly asked, "Is it the hospital’s subsidy, or is it yours?"
If it’s your own subsidy, why not admit it?
And why put it under the hospital’s na?
Vera felt a hint of sweetness in her heart.
Who knew Ian would reply like this—
"It’s the hospital’s benefit, nothing personal to do with ." Ian said, his hands steadily holding the steering wheel, his eyes looking straight ahead.
Vera’s breath paused, and she blinked.
He explained, "All dical staff who need to rent will have half of their rent subsidized by the hospital, not just you, all of them get it."
Hearing this, the warmth in Vera’s heart cooled instantly. Is this equal treatnt? No special exception at all?
Disappointed!
A deep disappointnt!
Though Vera didn’t show it, she felt rather uncomfortable inside.
Back ho, even though having dinner together with Ian should have been a joy, it was anything but happiness, since this was the last supper.
From tomorrow onwards, she would have to move out; she would have no reason to stay anymore.
Apparently, Ian was resisting her, pushing her away.
But Vera gritted her teeth and told herself not to lose heart, to strive to beco excellent, to beco the best doctor in the hospital, second only to him!
To shine, to be dazzling!
To stand by his side, to let him see her!
It has to be said, Vera has that sa determination Monica Usher once had. But if being excellent doesn’t guarantee feelings, what then?
Love or the lack of it is a feeling. If the feeling is wrong, no matter how excellent, it’s useless.
"Not bad cooking," Ian said truthfully, while eating the dishes.
Vera raised her lashes and smiled, "If you like it, have more. I made it especially for you!" Her heart felt sweet as if filled with honey once again.
As the night descended.
Trevor ca to Providence Hospital, specifically to visit Ethan Dalton.
Mia has been here all afternoon, helping the doctors bathe Ethan, washing his hair, and changing him into clean clothes.
"Sister."
Ethan’s eyes had been fixed on her for a full three hours, from the mont Mia entered, continually watching her, with her as the sole focus of his gaze.
Finally, Ethan clearly uttered those two words.
It was the urgent longing in his heart, his acknowledgnt and fondness for Mia.
The long-missed word ’sister’ moved Mia imnsely!
She squatted in front of the child, lovingly and appreciatively patting his head, "Such a good boy, cooperate with taking your dicine, and that way sister will love you the most."
As soon as she spoke, a female doctor walked over with a bowl of brewed Chinese dicine, and the air was imdiately filled with an unpleasant sll.
