Sitting across from him, sharing breakfast together, Vera Ford felt even the air was sweet, and with every bite, she couldn’t help but glance at him.
In her gaze, there was admiration, affection, passion, and desire.
"I’m done eating, I’ll go upstairs to get my bag!" Vera said, quickly standing up and heading upstairs.
When she ca back down, as she turned the corner of the stairs, she found his car was gone from the yard!
"..." Vera’s heart skipped a beat, then a trace of disappointnt flashed in her eyes; he didn’t wait for her and left on his own.
Vera walked down the stairs weakly, as if all her happiness had been drained away in an instant.
She stood alone in the vast, empty living room, even the morning light streaming in through the windows no longer seed beautiful.
Lost in a daze for a long ti...
"Is he avoiding suspicion like this?" Vera was very upset, "Even if coworkers see us, so what? Didn’t we co back together last night?"
Vera snapped back to reality and looked at the ti, she was almost late, so she had to book a ride, as her own car was still at the hospital and not driven back.
On the way to the hospital, Vera couldn’t quite figure it out, the last ti she went out with his friends for a picnic, wasn’t that a form of identity acknowledgnt?
He even introduced her to his friends. What does today an then!
The sa morning.
Even though the project partnership had ended, Mia Lane still went to The Dalton Group.
"Brother!"
At the entrance of the CEO’s office, Mia Lane ca in carrying a small cake.
Trevor put down the file in his hand, a trace of gentleness in his deep eyes, "Good morning, Stella."
"You used to line up to buy cakes, but from today on, I’ll buy them for you!" Mia Lane placed the cake on his desk, smiling and opened her arms towards him.
Trevor gazed at her, and as he walked closer, his smile grew warr. Standing nearly six feet three, he reached out and hugged his sister.
The hug was warm, firm, yet short-lived, and they quickly separated.
Trevor looked cautiously at the door, fortunately, no one was there.
"Those old n are all in a eting, I tid it just right to co over, Assistant Trevor." Mia Lane smiled, deliberately emphasizing the title.
At the sa ti, she assured him she would not reveal her identity and wouldn’t call him brother in front of outsiders, so he could rest easy.
The siblings exchanged a knowing smile and began to cut the cake and eat.
"How did you get here?" Trevor asked.
"My husband brought !"
He asked again, "Will you leave after eating the cake?" After all, there’s nothing much to do here, and the other little partners from the design departnt have returned to the Kingston Group.
Mia Lane licked so cream and put it into her mouth, "Hmm, hmm."
"Then why didn’t you bring him up?" Trevor was puzzled.
Mia Lane raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Isn’t he the jealous type? Ready to fight at any mont, I deliberately didn’t let him co up, and denied him the cake!"
Trevor couldn’t help but be amused by his sister’s playful deanor.
In the Lamborghini parked downstairs, Justin Kingston was patiently waiting for his wife, and today his mood was entirely different.
The jealous CEO Kingston was handso, but the non-jealous CEO Kingston was even more so, and there was an added gentle charm to that damn charisma.
In no ti, his phone rang, he checked the caller ID before answering, and a male voice ca through, "CEO Kingston, the detailed profiles of all The Dalton Group’s shareholders have been sent to your email."
"What about their network of relationships?" Justin asked.
"It’s already mapped out and sent to your email as well."
"OK." Justin hung up the phone.
At this mont, Mia Lane ca out through the revolving glass doors, opened the car door, and got into the passenger seat, "Let’s go!"
Justin started the car. He didn’t tell his wife about the secret investigation into The Dalton Group’s internal structure. No need to ntion the process, he would find that person, just the final outco was enough.
At the hospital.
Jocelyn Morgan was woken up by a phone call, she answered, groggily scratching her head, looking sleepy.
Whatever Cecilia Dunn said on the other end of the phone, she suddenly snapped to attention and scread, "Are you out of your mind?"
Outside the locked door, Ian Shelby paused in his steps, clearly hearing the sound inside.
