While walking into the elevator, she complained, "He really forgot his ex-wife once he got a new girlfriend, yet he’s eager to fight for his daughter. At critical monts, he never cooperates! Seriously!"
Knowing that her daughter was coming back today, Carlotta Sterling, Nathan Mills’ mother, prepared a lot of food, busying herself in the kitchen for several hours.
"Sister Sterling! I’m back!"
Using her fingerprint to unlock the door and entering, Janelle Mills pushed her suitcase forward into the expansive five-hundred-square-ter room, and it rolled far ahead.
"Quick, wash your hands and eat dumplings!" Carlotta ca out holding a plate of steaming dumplings. "These are handmade by your mom!"
Although Carlotta Sterling is over fifty, she looks very young, dresses fashionably, and the texture of her clothes is of high quality and quite expensive.
She looks spirited and is an independent-minded woman.
"Alright!" Janelle hurriedly ran to wash her hands, "It slls so good, I’m just in ti since I was hungry."
Carlotta set the delicious food on the table one by one.
"Where’s Aunt Zhang?" The girl looked around, "Why did you cook yourself?"
"I gave her the day off. Anyway, I’m the only one at ho, no need for service." Carlotta smiled broadly, "Janelle, in a few days, when I’m done with this busy period, I’ll take you to et a friend."
"I’m not going!" The girl instinctively protested, sensing a matchmaking setup.
"Oh, co on! Why not go? With your mom’s judgnt, do you think I’d make a mistake in picking soone for you?" Carlotta was frank, "I have high standards. Any boy I fancy must be outstanding! Don’t worry!"
"Marriage isn’t business, and besides, it’s not your life to live!" Janelle’s last matchmaking session was a fiasco, making her swear off blind dates for life.
"How do you know your days would be unbearable without even eting? You haven’t even interacted with the person. Can you not be like this? Be good, eat your dumplings first, and for the major life decisions, listen to Mom."
Janelle felt utterly speechless!
Indeed, it all cos together—listen to Dad, listen to Mom! Both being so dominant, no wonder they divorced.
The mother and daughter sat down at the dining table, where the newly placed roses in the vase were in full bloom, exuding a light fragrance.
The phone on the side rang, and Janelle was quite happy. Carlotta picked it up and muttered quietly, "It’s an unfamiliar number?"
This is, indeed, a private cell number.
Over the years, Nathan Mills had not been in contact with this side.
"Quick, answer it. If they called, they must need you for sothing." The girl said casually, picking up a dumpling and popping it into her mouth, "Hmm, it tastes good. I could eat two big bowls!"
Carlotta, in a good mood, gave her a glance, "If you can eat, have more. I made it cleanly."
After speaking, she slid her finger to the answer button, "Hello."
"Carlotta, it’s Nathan..."
Carlotta’s expression changed, and the person on the other side quickly said, "Please don’t hang up, hear out!" Though there’d been no contact for years, one could still imagine the other’s temperant.
With her daughter there, Carlotta held her breath, "Say it quick if you have sothing to say."
Hearing this tone, Janelle glanced up at her mother, is it Dad calling?
Miss Sterling, usually elegant and warm, when did she speak such harsh words? Only in front of Old Mills.
"Your birthday’s coming up, planning to travel or spend it at ho?" Nathan Mills’ attitude was quite good, showing no sign of dispute with her, owing to how much he owed her.
He actually rembered her birthday?
This made Carlotta, the strong woman, surprised and at the sa ti, she couldn’t help but feel a bit touched, lost in thought for a mont.
