In the elevator, Janelle Mills stared at the numbers getting smaller, wishing it would just plumt down!
The phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID, quickly answered, "Hello, Mom, I have an urgent matter and need to go out. But rest assured, it’s not about , I’ll be back soon, don’t worry!"
After finishing, she hung up imdiately, not wanting to say more than necessary.
Carlotta Sterling felt relieved; it wasn’t Janelle who was in trouble, but who was it?
Could it be Nathan Mills causing Janelle’s urgency?
When this na flashed in her mind, Carlotta’s heart tightened. She gripped her phone, held her breath, and thought it over.
Uneasily, she sat on the sofa.
The more she thought, the more worried she beca. After hesitating for a mont, with a slightly befuddled mind, she dialed his number for the first ti.
At this mont, Nathan Mills was at the company, in a eting with the executives. It was the last major project before the year-end, and so plans needed to be discussed.
The phone suddenly rang; it was actually Carlotta calling??
He was indeed shocked. The eting was interrupted; he quickly picked up the phone, glanced at the executives sitting on both sides of the conference table, and directly answered, "Hello, what’s up?" His voice was very gentle.
"Where are you?" Carlotta was a bit flustered.
"I’m at the company, specifically in the conference room. Do you need for sothing?" He sounded like he was reporting.
Carlotta heard his calm tone; it didn’t seem like sothing was wrong.
So... it’s not him?
Too rash, too impulsive; Carlotta’s mind drifted, and she certainly wouldn’t admit her deep concern for him. "It’s nothing, I was just asking randomly." After saying that, she hung up the phone.
Nathan Mills was puzzled; how could there be nothing?
He thought for a mont and then imdiately dialed his daughter’s number.
Soon, Janelle Mills, already in a car, answered, "Hello, Dad, what’s up?" She sounded a bit anxious; you could tell from her tone.
"Where are you?" Nathan Mills asked her, "Did sothing happen?"
"Huh?" The girl was incredibly surprised, "How do you know?"
"Your mom just called but didn’t say anything."
Nathan Mills sat back in his leading chair, lightly drumd the table with his finger, "She seed to... care about a bit?"
This offhand comnt was overheard by all the executives around the conference table. They looked at each other in shock, their expressions varied.
Is this... a big situation??
Janelle Mills understood what happened; Sister Sterling misunderstood, thinking that Dad was in trouble?
So Carlotta cares about Dad!
"It’s like this, Trevor had a minor issue, I’m going over to check it out. I left in a hurry and haven’t had a chance to explain it clearly to Mom. She probably thought it was you in trouble."
Despite being anxious, the girl’s lips curled up, "Oh, that’s nice, she actually called you, that clearly shows she cares about you."
"What happened to Trevor?" Nathan Mills was understandably tense about his future son-in-law.
To ease her father’s worry, Janelle replied, "Nothing much, just a minor issue, I’ll hang up now, I’m almost there."
At this mont, in front of The Dalton Group’s main building, Trevor’s distraught family mbers were being pulled apart and controlled by security guards.
Because the police cars had arrived too.
Yet Trevor didn’t intend to leave; he remained.
As the CEO, he should handle these matters, especially since it concerns human lives.
"Dad, oh, my dad, please wake up~!"
The sound of wailing and grieving echoed again, the scene remained chaotic, each one like a shrew.
Trevor looked at the doctors in white coats. They helplessly shook their heads, the implication clear—the old man had already passed away.
Trevor retracted his gaze, and said to Simon, "Bring the family to the reception room, I’ll talk to them."
"Huh?" Simon asked, puzzled, "What’s there to talk about?"
Trevor just gave him a glance, didn’t answer, and stepped inside.
