Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations Chapter 1458: Women Are Probably a Bit Dramatic
"Mom, what are you doing?"
Janelle walked in and glanced at the man sitting on the sofa holding the house purchase agreent, then looked at Carlotta in confusion, "Why buy so many houses? Your company isn’t even in Riventhal, and you don’t live here often, so what’s the point?"
"Sign it and move out imdiately." Carlotta said flatly, looking displeased.
"Didn’t Dad stay out of your way? Just pretend this house has nothing to do with him. You’re not even charging rent, so why worry about the money? Buying a house isn’t like buying cabbage, you know!"
"Janelle, I told you, hurry up and sign! Don’t you understand?!" Carlotta raised her voice, looking like she had nowhere to vent her anger.
Trevor’s brow furrowed slightly, but he seed to vaguely sense sothing. If buying a house was serious, wouldn’t a signature and a notice to move suffice?
It was probably just a woman’s caprice.
Yes, Carlotta knew her daughter was stubborn and wouldn’t easily sign.
Trevor considered and spoke up, "Auntie, if there’s sothing making you unhappy, let’s talk it out first. Although buying a house outright might not be a big deal for you, Janelle thinks it might not be necessary."
As he said this, he glanced around and then asked with concern, "Is there sothing uncomfortable about living in this house, or is there any issue?"
"Trevor." Carlotta’s eyes shifted, her gaze lightly landing on him as she asked, neither warmly nor coldly, "In what capacity are you standing here discussing family matters with ?"
Family matters?
The smart Trevor seed to understand sothing, subconsciously realizing she regarded Uncle Mills as family.
Thus, Trevor saw the timing was right and said to Janelle, "Give your dad a call. Buying a house is fine, but at least let him know you’ll be moving out."
Sothing flashed in Carlotta’s eyes, and her expression softened as she looked at Trevor.
Janelle thought he made sense, "Alright." So she took out her phone, casting a watchful glance at her mother.
Unexpectedly, her mother didn’t oppose her.
Even when Janelle dialed her father’s number, Carlotta said nothing, repressing a bit of awkwardness, turning away to mask her discomfort.
Nathan Mills didn’t pick up his daughter’s call, which puzzled Carlotta. Wasn’t it reachable just a mont ago?
Why couldn’t it connect now?
As Janelle wondered in confusion and felt dejected, another car drove into the yard and parked beside Trevor’s car.
Nathan Mills got out and walked in swiftly, unable to figure out why there was suddenly a need to move.
Everyone’s eyes fell on him, except for Carlotta, who looked on coldly, seemingly looking at him, yet not.
"Uncle Mills." Trevor greeted politely.
Since Janelle had just returned from him, and given the current situation... clearly, sothing was amiss.
So, she didn’t speak, fearing being too close to her father would upset her mother.
Nathan Mills looked at the man rising from the sofa and saw the house purchase agreent in his hand, "Carlotta, what’s going on? Is it uncomfortable living here?"
He did finally co, and in such a hurry, he didn’t even have ti to answer his daughter’s call, reducing Carlotta’s depression and annoyance by half, and oddly, she felt a small pang of emotion.
Confronted with his ex-wife’s question, Carlotta couldn’t answer and was unexpectedly embarrassed by Trevor’s presence.
"Mom, you don’t need to buy a house," Janelle broke the silence. "We have a place to stay; why not use the money for sothing else?"
"Yeah, why buy a house when there’s one to live in?" Nathan Mills blurted out, "If you feel insecure, I can transfer the house to your na."
"..." Carlotta lifted her gaze, truly looking at him for the first ti. She didn’t want a house. She wanted the long-lost feeling of being cared for.
Nathan Mills locked eyes with her, perhaps too nervous to think thoroughly, and quickly corrected, "Or I can transfer it to our daughter!"
Carlotta withdrew her gaze, instantly feeling speechless.
