Just as Kristina Kingston removed her mask, she saw Monica Usher walking towards her in the yard. She flashed a slight smile, her mood improving.
"Hello, Auntie."
"Monica, you’re here? Didn’t I tell you not to bring gifts every ti?" Kristina Kingston greeted her at the door. "Make yourself at ho!"
The extent of her recovery surprised Monica Usher; she could now take off the mask!
Putting down the gift, she quickly embraced Kristina gently. "Auntie, it’s just a small token of appreciation."
Beneath that beautiful smile, there was a slight loss of inner security. Would Mia Lane be able to make significant contributions, and would there still be a place for Monica Usher in the Kingston family?
After so simple pleasantries, Monica Usher asked, "Auntie, is Mia upstairs?"
"Yes, she’s still working on her dication research."
Glancing at the staircase, Monica asked again, "May I go up to see her?"
"Go ahead."
With Kristina Kingston’s permission, Monica Usher went upstairs, putting away her smile, holding onto only a resolute belief in her heart.
Mia Lane had been working in the laboratory for five hours straight. Now back in her bedroom, she closed the door and walked to the window, pouring herself a cup of tea.
During an unintended glance, she saw a red Bentley parked outside the window. Monica Usher had arrived?
Yet, Mia showed no emotional fluctuation, sipping tea while playing with the keychain Justin Kingston had given her. This cartoon boy was so cute! As she appreciated it carefully, her eyes were filled with soft starlight.
With this parting, would they et again in the future?
Monica Usher, upon reaching the lab and finding it empty, went inside straight to the drug table.
One row of the bottles contained various shades of liquid; she didn’t hesitate, taking a bottle from her bag and calmly pouring its contents into each one!
The swiftness of her actions showed she ca prepared.
After tidying up the bottles, she turned and left, her breath steady, without a trace of guilt, truly deserving the title of decisive company vice president.
As Monica Usher passed the walk-in closet, she inadvertently glanced inside, seeing it filled with various young won’s attire. She couldn’t help but rember the phone call Justin Kingston made at the castle estate.
Mrs. Kingston had personally moved Mia Lane’s belongings to Clearwater Bay.
Yet she claid not to approve of Mia Lane. How hypocritical!
With anger suppressed in her heart, Monica Usher went downstairs, her lips curving back into a smile. "Auntie, the company is a bit busy lately, I have to go now."
"Won’t you stay for dinner?" Kristina Kingston extended the usual offer, her eyes brimming with undisguised affection.
"No, there’s another eting waiting for . Auntie, I’ll co another day to see you." Monica Usher gently embraced her.
Kristina Kingston saw her off to the yard and to her car, "Take care." Watching her drive away.
A breeze blew past, and she thought to herself, Monica, just hold on a bit longer, once Mia Lane is gone, the position of the Kingston family’s young mistress will always be yours.
Monica Usher gripped the steering wheel, determination gleaming in her beautiful eyes!
Auntie, please don’t bla ; it’s because you weren’t resolute enough, and I can’t live without Justin! Everything I’m doing is because I love him!
From today onwards, Monica Usher will stop at nothing to win over Justin!
Kristina Kingston felt so discomfort in her stomach. Usually, she would have a few osmanthus cakes. Today, even though Mary made so personally, she hadn’t tasted a single piece.
"Madam," Mary asked with concern, "What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
"No appetite."
"Then... should we change the dinner nu?" Mary considered thoughtfully, "You didn’t eat much for lunch either."
Kristina Kingston turned to look at her and paused, "I don’t know why, but today I particularly crave Mia’s ho-cooked als."
