Ms. Tancred couldn’t find Mia Lane’s presence in the second-floor living room, so she directly knocked on the bedroom door and pressed her ear against it. "Miss Lane?" No one responded.
She opened the door, "Miss Lane?" The room was empty, but the sound of running water ca from the bathroom.
Ms. Tancred walked in, stopped in front of the bathroom door, and then knocked gently. "Miss Lane."
The sound of water ceased, and Mia Lane’s voice erged, "What’s the matter?"
"Are you showering?" Ms. Tancred asked with an uneasy heart, "Please hurry up, Mr. Kingston is here!"
"I don’t want to see him! Please ask him to leave!" Mia Lane said resolutely. She secretly decided not to get involved in the Kingston family’s matters anymore!
But Ms. Tancred was anxious, "He’s getting soaked in the rain downstairs! Young Master Anton isn’t letting him in! He refuses to leave! He’ll catch a cold in such heavy rain!"
Inside the bathroom, Mia Lane’s fingers paused on the edge of the bathtub and instinctively glanced out the window—
The heavy rain was drenching the glass! Blurring her vision.
All she could hear was the sound of wind and rain, occasionally interspersed with flashes of lightning and thunder.
The weather was so terrible, the raindrops were painful as they hit the skin!
She suddenly stood up, splashing water everywhere, grabbed a bath towel to wrap around her body, quickly dried herself, and dressed as fast as she could.
Her heart was tightly clenched, and all her movents were in a tangle.
Just as Ms. Tancred was about to knock again, Mia, with wet hair, opened the door, dashed out of the bedroom, and headed downstairs in her slippers!
"Miss Lane, slow down!" Ms. Tancred called worriedly, seeing a long water trail on the carpet, and hurriedly followed.
Walking too fast, coupled with wet and slippery soles, Mia Lane slipped at the stair landing, but luckily caught the railing, so her injuries weren’t severe.
Through the living room’s floor-to-ceiling window, she saw Justin Kingston standing resolutely in the storm.
Ignoring the pain, Mia Lane dashed downstairs, grabbed a large black umbrella, and rushed out of the living room!
She brushed past Anton Miller, causing him to stumble and grab onto the door fra. Ignoring him, Mia directly held the umbrella before Justin Kingston.
She looked at him, heart aching, seeing him completely drenched, raindrops trickling down his high nose, and his hair wet across his forehead.
Justin Kingston was montarily stunned, looking at her few strands of wet hair hanging next to her ear, still wearing a damp hair cap and slippers.
He discerned her urgency and concern, she had co in such a rush.
Joy ward Justin Kingston’s heart, and his previously cold expression softened significantly upon finally seeing her, a warm smile curved on his lips. "Mia..."
But her figure began to blur before his eyes, becoming indistinct bit by bit, and Justin Kingston’s smile turned pale and weak.
"What’s wrong with you?" Mia Lane was startled, her dical instincts telling her sothing was amiss. "Justin!"
The large black umbrella slipped from her hand, and in the pouring rain, she caught him as he fainted!
Noticing the bad situation, Anton Miller rushed over to help, supporting Justin Kingston, and said to the girl, "You go inside first! I’ll carry him!"
Mia Lane didn’t budge, worriedly looking at Justin Kingston, "Don’t scare ! Wake up!"
"Why aren’t you going inside?" Anton Miller yelled at her, "Would I hit him at a ti like this?" Saying this, he carried Justin Kingston into the living room!
Mia snapped out of it and followed in.
She was soaked, her clothes dripping, her body shivering.
Ms. Tancred quickly brought two large bath towels, wrapping one around her. "Miss Lane, you should go change and dry your hair! You’ll catch a cold."
But she rushed to the sofa, where Justin Kingston was also laid down, and took the towel to dry him off.
Mia Lane paid no mind to herself.
She reached out to feel his forehead, "He’s feverish..." Quickly retracting her hand from the burning heat, she tried to stay calm.
