Mary had just passed the staircase corner when Kristina Kingston stepped into the living room.
Mary’s footsteps halted, with no retreat she could only descend with a smile.
"Where’s Mr. Kingston?"
Kristina asked as she entered, having just seen the Lamborghini in the yard, indicating he wasn’t at the company.
"Good day, Madam."
Butler Shelby and Aunt Zhou greeted her respectfully, in unison, "Mr. Kingston is on a business trip."
Kristina looked towards Aunt Zhou, "Where did he go on a business trip?"
A brief silence answered her, clearly, this hadn’t been coordinated.
Even Mary’s chest tightened slightly, but Butler Shelby quickly responded with a respectful smile, "Wherever Mr. Kingston goes on a trip, he usually doesn’t report to us."
However, Kristina’s gaze fixed on Mary, she shifted the topic, "Why are you ho? Where’s Mia?"
"..." Mary was a beat too slow to react, feeling nervous.
"Don’t tell she’s doing voiceover work. If she’s in the recording studio, why aren’t you with her?" Kristina stared at her without blinking, "Look in the eye and tell , where is Mr. Kingston?"
Mary had been with her for years, any lie would be imdiately noticeable to Kristina.
Just then, the phone in the living room rang.
Everyone was inexplicably tense.
The ringing diverted Kristina’s attention, she stared at the phone for a few seconds, then looked at Butler Shelby and commanded, "You answer it, put it on speaker."
Butler Shelby steadied his nerves and moved towards the coffee table.
He bent over and glanced at the caller ID, feeling sowhat startled inside.
"Answer it, what are you waiting for?" Kristina coldly stared at him, her tone carrying a hint of authority.
The ringing continued...
Butler Shelby had no choice but to pick up the receiver and switch to speakerphone, "Madam."
Sure enough, it was Mia!
Kristina focused her hearing intently and moved towards the coffee table, holding her breath to listen!
Aunt Zhou and Mary were also extrely nervous.
"Butler Shelby, please help prepare a few sets of Mr. Kingston’s clothes," Mia’s gentle voice ca through, "And so personal items, like a razor, I’ll co over to get them."
"Alright." The butler responded with a pounding heart, not daring to raise his gaze.
Kristina stood beside the coffee table, her brows tightly furrowed.
Then she heard Mia instruct, "The news reported last night’s events, it hasn’t been suppressed yet. If Madam calls to ask, make sure to say Mr. Kingston is on a business trip."
Aunt Zhou took a deep breath.
Mary pressed her lips, her palms sweating.
"As for where the business trip is, if she insists on asking, let her ask Finn Morgan, in short, you don’t know, all rember that?"
"..." Butler Shelby’s breathing beca irregular.
Kristina’s eyes darkened.
Mia added, "I’ll be there soon, you go prepare." With that, she hung up the phone herself.
Standing by the coffee table, Butler Shelby held the receiver like it was a hot potato.
Kristina questioned, "What are you hiding from ? What’s wrong with Mr. Kingston? Why prepare personal items? Where is he? Why isn’t he staying at ho?"
A series of questions, each colder than the last, overwheld Butler Shelby.
When Kristina’s cold eyes turned to Aunt Zhou, she trembled, "Madam..." her lips quivering.
"Speak!" Kristina demanded, focusing on her, "What happened to Mr. Kingston?"
"I’ll tell you, I’ll tell you," Mary knew there was no hiding it, "Please don’t bla anyone, I’ll explain to you!"
Kristina turned her gaze to Mary, her expression still unforgiving, despising betrayal above all else!
Mary spoke calmly, "I witnessed everything last night, Young Master Zhang got into a feud with soone and was almost beaten up. Mr. Kingston and Mia happened to pass by, they went to help, and Mr. Kingston got stabbed in the back."
