As she walked into the eting room, a round of warm applause erupted.
Justin Kingston took his seat at the head of the table, with Mia Lane and Finn Morgan sitting to his left and right at the vacant spots by the conference table.
Today, she was dressed appropriately, in a grey professional suit that exuded maturity and steadiness beyond her years.
So might silently criticize her outfit, thinking that ability and presence aren’t supported by attire; her skills would soon be revealed.
Outside the company’s ground floor lobby, Hailey Hale hurriedly got out of the taxi, dashed into the lobby with determination!
She swiftly pressed the elevator door button all the way there.
"Damn Finn Morgan, not even waking up!" She forgot to set the alarm last night, headache! The eting must’ve already started, right?
She wore a ripped denim jacket today, with colorful braided strings woven into nurous small braids, all tied up into a high ponytail, full of personality.
The elevator door opened, and once so employees stepped out, she quickly went in; just as the door was about to close, two more female employees squeezed in, everyone pressed their desired floor.
The doors closed, and the elevator began to ascend.
"Did you hear the news?" a female employee asked mysteriously, "Mrs. Kingston officially took the position of Vice President today."
"She’s not even 30," the other female employee said disdainfully, "She’s never worked in the company before, just did so pro bono work in a village, can she handle such a heavy burden? Isn’t it too ambitious?"
"The problem is CEO Kingston never intended for her to handle it," the employee spoke cynically, "President Usher isn’t here, and she didn’t co, yet the company still operates, doesn’t it?"
"Just a figurehead then?"
"Wonder what magic power this woman has to enchant CEO Kingston’s heart!"
"She had two kids seven years ago, not simple."
Hailey couldn’t listen any longer, glancing at their naplates nonchalantly, clearly seeing nas and departnts, but she didn’t say a word.
Soon, the elevator stopped, and the two female employees exited.
Hailey silently noted their floor.
The elevator continued ascending.
The elevator door opened, and she quickly stepped out, heading to the Vice President’s office briskly!
Though it was her first day at work, she already knew the VP’s office was next to the CEO’s office, just a wall apart.
As Hailey barged into the VP’s office, Barbara Sutton, who was sitting and organizing files, looked up.
She watched Hailey walk in, "..." noticing the mismatched shoes on her feet.
The girl from the cake shop?
The girl staying at Assistant Morgan’s place?
Barbara’s chest thumped, her heart skipping a beat—this was the third ti she saw those shoes!
Slowly standing up, she steadied her emotions, "...Who are you looking for?"
Hailey approached her, extending a hand politely, "Hello, I’m Hailey Hale."
Hailey?
Barbara suddenly recalled the creator of the comics in Assistant Morgan’s drawer, was it this Hailey?
Seeing Barbara zone out, Hailey withdrew her hand, pocketing it, her gaze quirking at Barbara, "You’re Barbara Sutton, right?"
"You’ve heard of ?" Barbara said blankly, eting Hailey’s gaze.
"Yeah, heard from Justin Kingston." Looking around, Hailey asked, "Should I sit over there?" Not far away was another desk, "I’m the new VP’s assistant, looking forward to working with you."
Justin Kingston?
She actually called the CEO by na, and casually at that!
"Yes, that’s your desk." Barbara, feeling inexplicably uneasy, analyzed the voice she heard at Assistant Morgan’s house that day; it seed to be her.
Hailey turned and walked to her seat, casually asking, "What’s your usual work like? Is it very busy?"
"It’s okay, it depends on the situation." Barbara said truthfully, "Assistant work generally involves running errands, sotis helping with reports, occasionally going out to entertain important clients."
