The email was sent by Emily to Mia Lane. This was her computer, and her email account.
The content was simple. Emily told Mia, "Let have Justin Kingston for a week. I’ll give you the design notes."
Although it was only three short sentences, the aning was quite clear.
The girl nad Emily liked Justin Kingston, so the smile on her face in the photos, the happiness in her eyes, were genuine.
And the design notes were key. What on earth were they?
Mia felt uncertain, but she didn’t ask aloud.
She just kept looking at Justin, hoping he would explain himself.
Justin closed the computer and frankly admitted, "Your Jade Pendant was designed by Emily’s father."
Jade Pendant?
What did it have to do with the Jade Pendant?
Who designed it? How did he know?
Mia remained silent, not replying.
Justin continued, "Johnson has passed away, and all his belongings are with Emily, his only daughter, including the notebook with the design drafts."
"What is it you want to know?" Mia suddenly had a premonition, seemingly guessing his intention.
Their gazes t, and Justin also felt she had figured it out. So, he earnestly said, "You’ve done a lot for , and I want to do sothing for you."
Mia was shocked inside; she couldn’t accept it!
Justin put down the computer. "I often see you holding that Jade Pendant. It seems to hold significant aning for you."
"If you want to know, you can just ask ," Mia said restrainedly. "There’s no need to end up on the headlines over sothing like this! And travel all the way to Korland!"
"You’re right, I didn’t think it through," Justin regretted it a bit and understood her feelings.
Secretly investigating her unsettled Mia and made her feel awkward.
So she averted her gaze, stepping outside.
But Justin grasped her arm, "Mia, I just wanted to do sothing for you and help you untie the knot in your heart."
"But so things, if I don’t want them, no matter how hard you try, it’s useless," Mia was clear, then decisively shook off his hand. "First, think about how to handle this scandal."
With that, she stepped away.
Watching her cold and resolute back, Justin understood that this ti the news had reached an unprecedented level of attention, and it was of a different nature, with high-definition photos as solid evidence.
He also left the study and entered the bedroom.
Mia was already in bed, but the door was ajar, which eased Justin’s heart quite a bit.
She was lying on her side under the covers, her eyes closed.
After taking a shower, Justin also got into bed, gently lifting the covers to look at her peaceful appearance, but he knew she hadn’t fallen asleep so quickly.
"I’m sorry, Mia," Justin pulled her into his embrace, apologizing sincerely once more. "I acted on my own without considering your feelings."
"Sleep," she seed unwilling to talk further. "You have many things to deal with tomorrow."
Turning, he held her in his arms, gripping her hand that rested on his chest. "There’s really nothing between Emily and . She said her vocal cords were damaged and spoke softly, so I sat on the edge of the bed. I didn’t think it through, and it won’t happen again."
Mia felt a pang of jealousy that she couldn’t control, even though she believed in his innocence.
That girl was young and pretty, with a vibrant look and fair skin, and most importantly, she clearly loved Justin.
Just then, the phone on the bedside table rang. After a while, he reached for it—it was a voice ssage from Emily...
