"No need to trouble yourself, Monica." Barbara Sutton felt a bit embarrassed, "I’ve already had dinner."
But Monica Usher was already in the kitchen, opening the cupboard to take out so noodles, "Regardless of whether you’ve had dinner or not, you must have birthday noodles. Just sit and relax for a bit, I’ll be quick."
The kitchen was too small and too ssy; the conditions were really poor.
"I even practiced cooking noodles abroad." Monica said while busy and smiling, "The noodles I cook taste especially good, don’t worry."
Barbara couldn’t refuse her, and in the end could only stand at the door watching her cook the noodles.
"Barbara, how old are you? 24 or 25?"
"24."
"So young, ten years younger than ." Monica sighed lightly, suddenly lanting over how she had grown older without experiencing a proper romance, pouring all her youth into Justin Kingston.
She felt regret, but no remorse.
The longevity noodles were soon ready. Monica carefully carried the bowl into the living room, gently placed it on the table, and handed her a pair of chopsticks, "Birthday star, you can start eating now."
"Thank you." Barbara felt her heart completely filled with emotion, her nose felt a little sour, and her eyes were a bit moist.
Monica turned around and washed her hands, then took out the clothes from the bag, "I specially picked this for you after work, do you like it? I tried to match your style as much as I could."
Seeing the draping fabric, Barbara felt a slight twinge in her heart and asked, "This must be expensive, right?"
"It’s alright, not expensive. Take a look at the style and see if you like it."
What wasn’t expensive to Monica might be an exorbitant price for Barbara.
"You shouldn’t be buying clothes for ," she felt uneasy, "You’re already good enough to ."
"Hurry up and eat the noodles, after that we’ll make a wish and cut the cake. I’ve already bought it, so why say so much? A birthday only cos once a year." Monica was in a good mood tonight, losing the usual professionalism at work, she seed more like a caring neighborhood big sister.
"How are things going with Finn Morgan lately?" She asked about feelings, just like a friend would.
Barbara smiled helplessly, "Finn and I were never on the sa path, so it’s still the sa as before, just greeting each other when we et, all work-related interactions."
"Does it make you sad?" Monica gently asked, "Can you let it go?"
Barbara was silent for a while.
"Actually, feeling sad is normal." Monica smiled with so self-mockery, "I still get sad myself. Even knowing it’s impossible, I can’t help but miss him, especially in the quiet of the night."
"But it seems things aren’t too possible with him and Hailey Hale either," Barbara had been secretly observing, "Their relationship seems a bit tense."
"That’s normal." Monica chuckled.
The girl looked up, interestedly asking, "What’s normal?"
"That it’s not possible for the two of them is quite normal." Monica analyzed, "Their personalities just don’t match. Do you think marriage is maintained just by liking each other? They need to be compatible. Finn is older than you, while Hailey is only 20."
"She’s still a student, right?"
"I suppose." Actually, Monica wasn’t too sure, "Did you know? She’s the mayor’s daughter."
"!!" Barbara widened her eyes, hearing this for the first ti.
"What, you didn’t know?" Monica was a bit curious, "How could you not know after interacting for so long?"
She snapped out of it and swallowed her noodles, feeling as if facing a formidable foe, "If she doesn’t say, how would I know?" So, Hailey Hale and Finn Morgan are actually quite a match.
Hailey Hale isn’t an ordinary little assistant; her starting point is high above.
No wonder no one would care if she watched dramas during work hours, even CEO Kingston might indulge her a bit, right?
"Barbara." Monica felt a bit awkward, feeling like she had ruined the atmosphere, "Don’t think too much, what does being the mayor’s daughter matter? Didn’t you already say? They’re not likely, their relationship is a bit tense, and Finn likes a more stable type, which Hailey definitely isn’t."
