Monica Usher placed the sliced steak before Barbara Sutton, "Try it, it’s the best steak in all of Riventhal."
Barbara Sutton, her face pale, replied, "I don’t feel like eating."
Glancing down, she noticed a striking wound on Monica’s wrist, "Monica, what happened to your hand?" It looked like it had been cut with a knife.
"It’s nothing." Monica gazed at her with a slight smile, changing the topic, "No matter what happens, living is what matters. Losing a job is nothing. I got fired too, didn’t I?"
"..." Barbara pressed her lips together; she might need ti to process that.
"Eat up; it won’t taste as good if it gets cold." Monica withdrew her gaze and began cutting another portion of steak.
Her whole deanor was much softer, less aloof, and a bit more approachable.
But deep down, Barbara was still uneasy, "Monica, you invited out for dinner today, is there sothing you want to discuss?" Everyone is busy; no one has ti to kill.
"How is the Kingston Group’s ’True Love’ series progressing?" Monica spoke without hesitation, feeling Barbara was bound to be of help despite not having much utility anymore.
Especially since today she saved her from a dire situation.
"The company released the first finished product this afternoon," Barbara inford her, "It was showcased in the eting, which I attended. It was indeed beautiful, inspired by a four-leaf clover design."
"A four-leaf clover?" Monica was slightly taken aback and sneered, "Isn’t that cliché? The market is flooded with those."
"It’s different, it’s unique, it stands out," Barbara recalled its appearance, "It’s particularly exquisite, with even the small details well done."
"Can you describe what it looks like?"
"Sure."
Barbara had witnessed it, and as she saw that shining mont, countless fantasies flooded her mind, leaving a vivid mory.
At the dinner table, she described it in detail to Monica.
Monica, who understood design, listened attentively and rembered everything.
"Where is the finished product kept?" Monica asked.
"The jewelry storage room, Room 3, inside a silver box."
She forked a piece of steak and put it into her mouth, bluntly saying, "I’ll make a design sketch tonight; you can check if it looks the sa."
"..." So what is she planning to do? Barbara didn’t understand but sensed it was sothing big.
Monica looked up at her, plainly stating, "You’re no longer part of the Kingston Group, and I helped you out of such a tight spot. Don’t you think you owe ?"
"..."
"Don’t you hate them?" Monica provocatively asked, "Just because Finn Morgan likes Hailey Hale, they ostracized you? They fired you without any work mistakes; doesn’t that make you resentful?"
Barbara definitely felt wronged, especially since she liked Finn Morgan, which left her sowhat devastated, not being able to see him anymore.
"I don’t know how you feel." Monica said, slightly indifferent, "But I don’t want Justin Kingston to have it easy; their happiness is built on my pain, and I can’t swallow that."
After dinner, Monica drove Barbara back to her rented upscale apartnt complex.
"Monica, thank you..." Barbara still felt uneasy, "Once I have money, I will definitely repay you."
Monica held no hope regarding this, "Forget it, don’t expect it — you should adjust your mindset. If you can’t find a suitable job, you’re welco at R-Alan."
Barbara didn’t respond, simply looked at her, countless unsaid words turned into silence.
She got out of the car and walked into the complex.
Just as Monica started the car, her phone rang; it was a call from Lydia Ingram.
Tonight, fate had planned a nightmare.
