"Finn." He was able to answer the phone; the middle-aged woman was very emotional, yet she didn’t bla him or ask any additional questions, she rely cald herself and asked, "Grandpa’s birthday is coming up, will you co back?"
"I’ll return," Finn’s voice was gentle.
Finn knew that Grandpa would host a banquet for his 80th birthday.
As the only grandson of the Morgan family, if he didn’t show up, people would gossip, and Grandpa would also be upset.
His mother was very happy, and she sighed lightly, "Grandpa really misses you, he’s been talking about you these days. I’ll go tell him now, so he can be at ease."
Without waiting for Finn to say anything, she laughed and said, "Son, you go ahead, I won’t disturb you. It’s ti to go to work, don’t forget to have breakfast, bye-bye!"
With that, she hung up the call.
Listening to the silence on the phone, Finn felt a bit heavy-hearted.
He thought, his mother’s feelings must be quite complicated too, right?
Just as Finn had finished washing up and was getting into the car, his phone rang again. He glanced at the caller ID, put on his Bluetooth headset, and started the car.
"Jocelyn."
"Brother." A girl’s voice ca through, tiptoeing, "The Monroe family elders ca over last night. I hid at the stairs and eavesdropped for a long ti. The main topic was still about your marriage with lissa."
"Did you give my number to Mom?"
Changing the subject??
"Hey, are you listening to ?" The girl was surprised, "You can’t escape, didn’t lissa find you already? Did you propose to another girl to annoy her?"
"No." Finn’s tone was indifferent.
Jocelyn sighed, "Don’t ignore , I’m on your side! Your number was given to uncle and aunt by the Monroe family elders, I didn’t reveal a single word!"
Finn believed her and didn’t pursue the issue with the number.
"They ca to discuss marriage, how did my parents respond?" Finn asked while driving, "What was their attitude?"
"What else could their attitude be?" Jocelyn sighed, "Originally, the Monroe family’s energy-saving plan was to collaborate with a company in Aeridia. They chose The Morgan Group out of courtesy, and uncle and aunt only said to wait for you to return to discuss it. I called you to help you prepare ntally."
"I see." Finn’s voice was low, "Thank you, Jocelyn."
"Are you really in love?" Before he hung up, the girl asked eagerly, "I saw the news. That girl is quite pretty and not too old, right?"
"Yeah, I’m really in love." Finn told her, "You don’t have to keep it a secret for , it’s already in the news anyway."
"But they think you’re doing it on purpose to spite lissa."
"Am I not normal?" Finn was curious, "Is dating soone intentionally irritating her? Who does she think she is? Can she control my life?"
"Brother..."
"I’ve never taken lissa seriously," Finn said, "Leaving Veridia was just to avoid inheriting the family business. I just want to keep things simple, go to work, and not live amidst pretension."
"I know." Jocelyn was the one who understood Finn the best. Although they weren’t siblings by blood, they grew up together.
"Alright, I’m driving, talk later."
"Drive safely, when will you introduce to your girlfriend?"
"Don’t worry, you’ll et her soon." With that, Finn hung up the call.
The car drove towards the Kingston Group...
Soon, it ca to a steady stop beneath the main tower of the building. After getting out of the car, Finn dialed Hailey Hale’s number.
