"Will Justin help us?"
Hailey Hale expressed her doubts with resentnt, "My father is in trouble because he’s investigating! He’s the one who most wants my dad arrested, right? He won’t save him!"
Finn Morgan t her gaze and saw the hatred and tears in her eyes.
Feeling a pang of heartache, Finn held her shoulders, squatting down in front of her, "Hailey," he gently called her na.
Then, softly stroking her cold cheek, he patiently explained, "No, CEO Kingston is investigating Lydia Ingram, and accidentally found out about your father because he is the huge umbrella, protecting the dark forces."
"..." Hailey’s nose tingled, on the verge of tears.
Finn continued, "Since he’s already found out, he can’t possibly cover for him for our sake, right?"
"His conscience wouldn’t rest easy, your father might not stop in ti, there could be more victims..."
Hailey felt a headache building, "Stop talking."
Her mind was a bit chaotic and a bit irritable.
She gripped the mouse and looked at the computer screen, feeling that all the words on it were blurry.
"Your father’s arrest is due to his own actions." Finn felt he had to say, "It’s not because CEO Kingston investigated him, it’s because your father harbored evildoers, took bribes, and often walked by the river, so he got his shoes wet."
"Stop talking..." Her voice was weak, showing an expression of acknowledgnt.
Finn held her wrist, feeling the cold temperature emanating from her, looking at her with heartache, "Hailey, no matter what happens, it won’t affect our relationship."
Hailey shed a tear, feeling extrely apologetic.
Her heartache was mirrored in Finn’s own heartache.
He wished he could share her burden.
About two hours later—
At the entrance of Kingston Group, a white Maybach stopped.
The car door opened, Finn and Hailey got out, with a thick dossier in Finn’s hand. He led Hailey into the company lobby.
The company lobby was as usual, with employees coming and going.
Their appearance naturally attracted all the attention, especially towards Hailey Hale.
Hailey also felt it, but she had no desire to eavesdrop on the gossip, no desire to think about how these people viewed her.
She only hoped Justin wasn’t in a eting, hadn’t gone on a business trip, and was sitting in his office at this mont!
They took the elevator upstairs.
Finn guided Hailey into the CEO’s office.
Seated at the desk, Justin Kingston looked up and imdiately spotted them, also noticing the thick dossier in Finn’s hands.
"CEO Kingston." Finn approached the desk, handing over the docunts with both hands.
"CEO Kingston." Hailey, with red eyes, greeted politely, her entire deanor lacking energy.
Justin couldn’t help but take a second look at her. This young lady usually called him by his first na casually, without any formality.
Today, however, she was so polite; it felt quite out of the ordinary.
Then, Finn stated their purpose for coming, with Justin listening seriously, nodding from ti to ti in agreent.
Finally, Finn said, "This matter is a burden on you."
"Alright, with the current public opinion so intense, and him indeed being involved with Lydia Ingram," Justin sighed lightly, "If Lydia Ingram is sentenced to death, and Dennis Hale gets five to eight years, it doesn’t seem proportionate."
"What does this an?" Hailey grew anxious, patiently asking, "Explain it clearly, I really don’t understand."
Justin gazed at her, explaining, "It ans your father might not receive the death penalty, given his significant contributions to Riventhal in the past, but it’s very possible he’ll receive a life sentence, especially since he bears responsibility for lives lost."
As the leader of a major enterprise, one’s principles must be aligned properly.
"Aren’t you going to try your best to fight for it? What’s the difference between life imprisonnt and a death sentence?"
Hailey was so anxious she stamped her feet, tears on the verge of falling, "If he’s locked inside, it would be a fate worse than death!"
