Tang Guangi’s Audi A6 ca to a stop. Her daughter, Gu Xiaoting—the one who hadn’t attended the ancestral rites last ti—got out from the co-pilot seat.
She was dressed in Gucci from head to toe.
But it was all from last year’s collection.
Naturally, she noticed Bai Ningbing’s pineapple print was from today’s new release.
After all, she spent all day on her phone checking out the latest luxury goods—how could she not know? It’s like how many people can’t afford cars but spend all day looking at luxury cars online, right? That doesn’t stop them from knowing about them.
Gu Xiaoting also knew that what Bai Ningbing wore was all authentic, not so sophisticated knockoffs.
Even more striking was Tangya’s outfit.
Gu Xiaoting estimated that Tangya’s entire ensemble must have cost at least close to a hundred thousand.
"Third Aunt, Auntie, you two go on up first. I’m going to buy so disposable cups and pick up so drinks!" Tang Yue said.
Bai Ningbing replied, "Sister Tang Yue, let go with you!"
"Sure, okay!" Tang Yue nodded.
Tangya, Tang Guangi, and Gu Xiaoting exchanged awkward smiles and then headed upstairs.
Gu Xiaoting’s relationship with Tang Yue and Bai Ningbing wasn’t good.
After all, her family used to be the wealthiest among them and sowhat looked down on their poorer relatives.
So, they never liked playing together, even as children.
In the community convenience store, Tang Yue whispered, "Ningbing, your boyfriend treats you really well!"
Upon hearing Tang Yue ntion Luofeng, Bai Ningbing’s face broke into a smile; she felt a sweet warmth inside.
"Oh, him? Actually, he’s quite a bully!" Bai Ningbing said with a playful HMM.
Tang Yue secretly felt envious. "Did he really give you a house, like the one in the photos?"
"Yes, over at Butterfly Villa. It even cos with several parking spots. Overall, it’s pretty nice!" Bai Ningbing nodded.
"Sigh, I’m so envious!" Tang Yue sighed.
"Sister Tang Yue, I saw your Monts Circle. Has sothing been troubling you recently?" Bai Ningbing changed the topic.
Tang Yue didn’t respond imdiately.
Instead, she bought so disposable cups and two cases of drinks. After paying and walking out of the convenience store, she finally replied, "I’ve been having a really tough ti lately; it feels like both my love life and career are collapsing."
"Everything will get better!" Bai Ningbing comforted her. "Sister Tang Yue, you need to look forward and forget what’s making you unhappy!"
Bai Ningbing didn’t press for details.
After all, wouldn’t that be like rubbing salt in her wounds? If Tang Yue wanted to talk about it, she would have elaborated.
"How could I forget everything so easily?" Tang Yue said, looking at Bai Ningbing. "I heard your boyfriend is from Shanghai, right?"
"Yes!" Bai Ningbing nodded.
"When did you two get together?" Tang Yue continued to ask.
"Not too long ago," Bai Ningbing said. "Before, you could say we liked each other, but we only made our relationship official recently."
"So, have you... you know... done *that*?" Tang Yue asked, looking quite gossipy.
Bai Ningbing’s face instantly turned bright red; she naturally understood what Tang Yue ant. "No! I’m still a student—I need to focus on my studies!"
Tang Yue stared in disbelief. "Are you serious?"
Bai Ningbing insisted, blushing, "Of course! Nothing has happened between us!"
"He sent you a red envelope worth five million, gave you a house, is constantly buying you luxury goods, and even bought things for your mom?" Tang Yue was truly at a loss for words.
"His family is very wealthy. They must have assets worth tens of billions, right?" Bai Ningbing said.
But she had really overestimated Jiai Construction Company. Its current valuation wouldn’t even exceed one billion. Luofeng was willing to spend money simply because he had it—that was all.
Tang Yue sighed. "So, it’s still better to find a richer boyfriend. My ex-boyfriend and I... we did *everything*... After graduation, when we discussed marriage, his family’s financial situation was poor. Even if my family helped with part of the down paynt for a house, they couldn’t co up with the other half!"
"Besides, he changed. Maybe he just got tired of ?" Tang Yue said self-deprecatingly. "After all, we were together for all four years of college, plus two years of graduate school—that’s almost seven years!"
Seeing her like this, Bai Ningbing didn’t know how to comfort Tang Yue.
Tang Yue didn’t dwell on these matters. "Ningbing, can I co over to your place soti? I’d love to experience your family’s swimming pool. From the photos you posted, it looks really nice!"
"Of course!"
"Thank you!"
"Sister Tang Yue, you’re being too polite. We were very close when we were little, weren’t we?" Bai Ningbing said.
She rembered that Gu Xiaoting never played with them. If Gu Xiaoting was around, it was usually to show off her expensive toys while they could only watch from the side. They were often bullied by her. Gu Xiaoting’s parents would only offer a token reprimand, with no real intention of disciplining their own daughter. Co to think of it, Tang Yue was the one who looked out for her a little when they were children.
The two soon took the elevator and arrived at Bai Ningbing’s ho.
As soon as they entered the suite, they heard Tang Guangi discussing the house at Butterfly Villa.
"I checked it out. The price per square ter there is seventy to eighty thousand. A house like that, with an attached rooftop garden, must be worth at least around twenty million!"
"Ningbing’s boyfriend is really generous, casually buying such a luxury house for you all to live in!"
Tang Guangi was obviously being sarcastic.
She assud Luofeng had bought the house rely for Bai Ningbing and Tangya to live in. She didn’t say he *gave* it to Bai Ningbing, but that he *bought it for Bai Ningbing to live in*. The difference in aning between the two was vast.
"Ningbing, you’re back?" Seeing her, Tang Guangi once again employed her Yin and Yang skill. "I was just talking about your new house. You all have to be careful. Make sure not to sell your old house, just in case sothing unexpected happens. You’d regret it then!"
Was she implying that if Bai Ningbing broke up with Luofeng, she might be kicked out of that luxury house?
Tang Guangi continued, "Relationships like these can change in an instant. One second it’s all sweetness and light, and the next, everything’s different... Look at Tang Yue. She and that Zhao fellow were together for many years, both families even t, and yet..."
"Third Aunt!" Bai Ningbing interrupted her sarcastic remarks. "Don’t you think what you’re saying is out of line?"
Tang Guangi was taken aback.
Tangya naturally had no intention of stopping Bai Ningbing from speaking her mind.
anwhile, Tang Yue looked at Bai Ningbing with gratitude.
