The man, referred to as Uncle Yuan, seed very pleased with Xia Yinian.
"Uncle Yuan, you’re flattering !" Xia Yinian lowered her head, speaking shyly.
"Is Uncle Yuan joking? Ling Qian knows best how many pretty girls I’ve set him up with before, and every ti he stood them up." The man laughed, amused.
"Being able to say a few words to Nian Nian up close today, I finally understand how high this guy’s standards are. No wonder he wasn’t interested in the won I introduced to him."
"Uncle Yuan, don’t keep flattering her, see, she’s blushing." Gu Lingqian smiled and raised his glass.
"Alright, alright." The man clinked glasses with Gu Lingqian, raised his glass, and drank it all, "I won’t disturb you anymore."
Gu Lingqian returned a signature smile, and the man turned to leave.
"Nian Nian, what’s the matter with you?"
Gu Lingqian placed his glass on the tray held by a servant, held both of Xia Yinian’s hands, and faced her.
There were many people behind them wanting to toast, but seeing him put down his glass, they had to stop and casually toast each other.
Xia Yinian knew standing beside Brother Ling Qian sowhat obstructed everyone.
Also, because there were so many people tonight, she was worried she wouldn’t have the chance to talk to Brother Ling Qian later.
"Co over here for a mont." Xia Yinian pulled Gu Lingqian’s hand, leading him aside.
Seeing the couple display affection, everyone exchanged smiles and didn’t say much.
Worried that others might overhear what she had to say, Xia Yinian led Gu Lingqian quite a distance away.
She stopped beside a small high round table.
Before she could speak, Gu Lingqian directly lifted her onto a one-ter-high stool.
He pulled over a stool, sat down, and naturally leaned softly against her.
"What is it? Take your ti."
Knowing that wherever she and Brother Ling Qian went, they’d attract attention, Xia Yinian felt a bit embarrassed by Gu Lingqian’s earlier action.
Even in her evening gown, she could easily sit up at this height without him lifting her.
Being lifted by him was indeed unexpected and made her feel quite shy.
Xia Yinian pursed her lips, placed her hands on the table, entwining them, and leaned closer to Gu Lingqian.

It’s rare for Uncle to need soone else’s help, and the fact that he asked Nian Nian for help seed unbelievable.
However, Gu Lingqian knew if it were just a joke, Nian Nian wouldn’t have brought him over so secretively.
Xia Yinian glanced around cautiously.
"It’s okay, go ahead. I have my people all around." Gu Lingqian extended his large palm, holding one of her hands on the table.
Xia Yinian finally felt assured, nodded, leaned close to his ear, and whispered, "He said tonight Yu Wanqing might drug him, that..."
"On the day of the Alchemy Competition, Yu Wanqing told the Yu Family had found a way to treat Grandma, and so Uncle would definitely get engaged to her."
"Brother Ling Qian, did you know about this?"
