Outside, there weren’t many people around, and the few passersby appeared to be in a great hurry.
Xia Yinian and Gu Beicheng did not wander far, simply strolling along a nearby path.
This ti, scenery graced every direction; with just a lift of the eyes, one could glimpse the vast, sprawling desert in the distance.
The whole oasis seed deeply engulfed by the desert, giving off a precarious sense that it could be swallowed by sandstorms at any mont.

Up ahead, three people hurried along with peculiar looks on their faces, as if sothing significant had happened.
Spotting the cal driver who had been their guide for the day, Xia Yinian couldn’t help but ask, "What’s happening?"
The cal driver appeared very anxious, clearly indicative of a serious matter, yet he was at a loss for words.
Eventually, he just shook his head, broke free from Yinian, and ran off following the others.
"What’s going on? There isn’t any danger, is there?" Xia Yinian asked with furrowed brows, turning back to look at Gu Beicheng.
She had just been contemplating the safety of the oasis, and now, she suddenly felt insecure—a real contradiction!
"It’s okay, don’t overthink it." Gu Beicheng understood her feelings, having had similar ones on his first visit here.
"There won’t be any danger; this oasis has survived hundreds of years of history, it wouldn’t still be here if it were hazardous."
Caught by his insight, Yinian felt a bit embarrassed, yet the two of them returned to the yard of their villa.
Ah Qiman had said he’d co for them at six o’clock, and now it was already half-past six. Why hadn’t he arrived?
Unexpectedly, soon after their return, Ah Qiman showed up.
"Mr. Gu, Mrs. Gu, I am truly sorry. Our Young Clan Leader’s wedding tonight... well..."
Ah Qiman seed to struggle to find the words and after hemming and hawing, he finally said, "The wedding has been cancelled."
"Cancelled?" Xia Yinian felt an uneasy sensation within her.
She didn’t even know why she felt so unsettled, but it didn’t sit right with her: "Why? A wedding is a big event; how can it just be cancelled on a whim?"
It wasn’t right to ddle in others’ affairs, yet she was eager to know the reason.
Ah Qiman found himself in a dilemma; this was an internal affair of the clan and shouldn’t be disclosed carelessly.
"Ah Qiman, what’s the reason?" Gu Beicheng also inquired, "I almost co here every year, and I bought this villa myself; I’m almost a local."
Seeing the look on his girl’s face, he worried that she wouldn’t be at peace without understanding the situation.
He felt compelled to continue asking: "I know the Young Clan Leader as well; what exactly happened?"
He hadn’t wanted to flaunt these connections in front of Xia Yinian, as if they were rely tourists.
But now, without ntioning them, he feared they wouldn’t receive the information they sought.
Ah Qiman was genuinely troubled, yet in the end, he let out a faint sigh.
"Mr. Gu, I know you’re acquainted with the Young Clan Leader, this... ah, his fiancée, she... she... ah..."
He kept shaking his head and sighing, leaving Yinian suddenly flustered.
"What happened to her? Did she... is there an incident?"
Ah Qiman nodded: "You could say an incident. She... she was caught in the act with another man... having an affair..."
