"Slow down!" Gu Lingqian reminded her.
This tenderness, for her, was a perfectly perford act, but for him, it was genuine.
Xia Yinian didn’t care, after all, they were back at the Gu Family’s, and in front of Grandma, their relationship should appear this way.
Gu Lingqian accommodated Xia Yinian’s pace, and the two quickly arrived before Old Madam.
"Xia Xia, congratulations on your discharge," Old Madam said with a smile.
A servant took out a red envelope from the wheelchair and placed it in Old Madam’s hands.
Old Madam extended her wrinkled hand and handed the red envelope to Xia Yinian.
"This is a red envelope from Grandma; I hope you have good health and a happy, fulfilling life."
Xia Yinian did not imdiately take the red envelope but instead glanced at Gu Lingqian.
"Nian Nian, this is Grandma’s sincere wish, just take it. The red envelope can dispel any bad luck, signifying health and longevity," Gu Lingqian explained.
Xia Yinian turned back to et Old Madam’s eyes, slightly curved her lips, and took the red envelope.
Such a generous red envelope was a first for her, but she just pulled out a single banknote from it and resealed the envelope.
"Grandma’s kindness is appreciated, but what I’d prefer is to see Grandma healthy and long-lived. This is my blessing to you, please accept it," Xia Yinian said, handing the red envelope back to Old Madam with both hands, looking at her sincerely.
Old Madam smiled joyfully and eventually took back the red envelope from Xia Yinian’s hands.
"My Nian Nian is truly a good girl, Ling Qian, you must cherish her."
"My feelings for Nian Nian are wholehearted, as the heavens and earth can witness, Grandma, please rest assured!" Gu Lingqian nodded, without looking at Xia Yinian.
Perhaps, he was worried that she would see sothing in his eyes that she shouldn’t—sothing that might trouble her.
