Walking out of the back courtyard, a large mountain lood directly ahead. The peak was not very high, yet the mountain was vast.
I’ve heard that the entire mountain was the Feng Family’s property.
Looking at the man not far away, Xia Yinian trotted over to him.
"Uncle Ye, I’m here."
Since he was teaching her self-defense, and technically he was already her master, it was only proper to show so manners.
"Good, try to catch up with first," Gu Beicheng didn’t turn around, and as soon as his words fell, he began to walk forward.
Xia Yinian didn’t hesitate at all and imdiately chased after him.
When running away, speed is very important, and this is sothing she was clearly aware of.
Gu Beicheng was accommodating Xia Yinian’s pace at first, not walking too fast. However, he did not take a straight path, instead opting for routes with more cover.
Xia Yinian focused, paying attention to his every move, following along.
But, after about three minutes, she completely lost sight of the man.
"Uncle Ye, where are you? Uncle Ye..." The girl stopped in her tracks, calling out softly.
With his figure gone, the entire back mountain felt especially silent.
The lighting was weak, with only the moonlight scattering down from the treetops.
Not able to sense another person’s presence at all, Xia Yinian suddenly felt a bit fearful.
Did Uncle Ye really walk off into the distance? But, the ti was still so short.
"Uncle Ye, if you don’t show up, I... I’m going back." The girl’s voice sounded a bit weighed down, and she seed genuinely scared.
"Uncle Ye, are you still there? You haven’t encountered any danger, have you?" What could there be in the back mountain—who could guess?
However, if even he ran into trouble, then who on earth could it be, who had such skills?
"Uncle Ye, if you are still around, please co out. Nian Nian is a bit... worried."
Xia Yinian was very afraid of the dark, but didn’t want to admit it, so she could only describe her fear as worry.
After all, she truly was a little worried about his safety, wasn’t she?
Gu Beicheng knew she was afraid of the dark; he had found out while they were on the cruise. He didn’t want to scare her, and suddenly, he appeared behind her.

The man’s soft voice sounded behind her, and Xia Yinian spun around abruptly.
eting her gaze that seed like she wanted to run into his arms for an embrace, Gu Beicheng stretched out an arm and pulled her into his chest.
"It’s alright, I’m here."
His familiar scent, his familiar words, left Xia Yinian slightly dazed for a mont.
It was like she had returned to that man’s embrace.
But why, every ti she was scared, did she think of him?
Xia Yinian let out a soft sigh and suddenly realized sothing was off.
She quickly ca to her senses and pulled away from his embrace.
"Uncle Ye, are you really going to teach self-defense?" Suddenly feeling a bit taken advantage of, she felt sowhat displeased.
"I’m always ready," Gu Beicheng said, waving his hand, "but if you’re afraid of the dark, we could perhaps schedule another ti."
"Who says I’m afraid of the dark? Let’s start," she said and turned away, no longer looking at him.
Just now, she was a bit scared. Yet, it seed that with him around, she wasn’t afraid anymore.
Gu Beicheng slightly curved his lips, knowing that this little girl was stubborn and wouldn’t readily admit to such things.
However, it’s not really a bad thing for a girl to be afraid of the dark, and he seed quite fond of her fears.
Because when the little girl was scared, she would beco especially well-behaved.
What he loved most was when she would be like a little white rabbit, seeking refuge in his embrace.
Every ti this happened, Gu Beicheng was willing to let her depend on him for a lifeti.
