He looked at her.
"Before the border negotiations," she said. The Chief’s voice trying to maintain the flatness that the subject required. "He said I seed — distracted." A pause. "He stopped asking."
The Eye of Truth noted: pulse elevated. Stress markers in the qi pathway consistent with sha.
He said nothing.
He pulled the towel free.
She looked away imdiately.
Then looked back.
Because she was a cultivator, and cultivators assessed threats, and the assessnt required looking, and what she was looking at — the Eye of Truth noted her own pupils expanding, the specific, involuntary dilation of a visual system that had registered sothing in the significant category — was the specific, comprehensive, un-managed presentation of a man who had been built by his own cultivation history and who was, at his current stage, expressing that history in every relevant asurent.
"Senior," she said.
Her voice was not the Chief’s voice.
"—That is not—" She stopped. "That is."
She stopped again.
He looked at her looking at him.
"Your husband," he said.
She looked up at his face.
"Small," he said. Not cruelty. The flat, diagnostic register of soone reading the data. "The tissue response pattern when I touched you—" his hand moved toward her inner thigh "—is the specific response of a body that has been operating below its designed capacity for an extended period."
"You don’t—" Her voice had gone small. "You don’t know that."
"I have ten thousand years of relevant data," he said. "I know exactly what I know."
His hand arrived.
She made a sound before he touched her — the anticipatory sound, the honest, involuntary output of a body that had been tracking the trajectory of his hand and had filed its preliminary response before the contact.
Then contact.
The flat, warm, direct touch of his fingers against the specific warmth between her thighs — not the fabric, not the approach, direct, the hair soft and dense and the warmth beneath it imdiate, present, thoroughly honest about its current state.
’—AAAHN~!—’
Her hips ca off the ground.
"—Don’t—" The Chief’s voice arriving and leaving in the sa breath.
PAH.
’—HNN~!—’
The tap against her inner thigh — the sharp, flat, present redirect of her attention.
He looked at her.
"Look at ," he said.
She looked at him.
His finger moved.
Slow. The physician’s pace. The specific, deliberate, single-finger approach of soone who had conducted this particular examination on enough bodies to understand that pace was information and information was everything.
He found the specific location.
He pressed.
’—AAHN~!!’
He pressed again.
Circular. The flat, patient, unhurried circle of soone who had located what he was looking for and was addressing it with the thorough, comprehensive attention of soone who had decided this was where his attention was.
She was wet.
Not the polite, managed, socially acceptable version of the thing. The specific, comprehensive, thoroughly honest physiological output of a body that had been in his Herb Integration passive for forty minutes and had had its stress hormones amplified and its rational processing reduced and had been kissed and touched and had its breast taken by a Nascent Soul Mid Stage cultivator’s mouth and was now expressing the sum total of all of that in the most direct, unambiguous way available to it.
"—You’re—" she started.
"Yes," he said.
"I’m not—"
"You are."
She pressed her lips together.
He continued the circle.
’—Aaahn~... aaahn~...—’
Her thighs had closed around his hand — not the preventing-grip, the specific, involuntary grip of thighs that had found sothing warm between them and had made an executive decision about the geotry.
"The tightness," he said.
She made a strangled sound.
"The tightness is—" He pressed in slightly, the first knuckle, the specific, single incrent of entry that produced a very particular response. "—remarkable. For months."
’—AAAHN~!!—’
"Months," he said again, with the flat, asured register of a man confirming a result, "and he let this go unused."
She made a sound that was part protest and part sothing that was not protest at all, the specific, layered, mixed-category sound of a woman receiving an accurate statent about herself at the sa mont her body was receiving sothing else.
"He was bored," he said.
Her eyes flew open.
Wide. The full, amber, present eyes of the Chief arriving in the room with the abrupt, full-system priority of a woman who had heard a word she could not let pass unchallenged.
"He was not—" she started.
He drove his finger in.
Full. The single, complete, deep entry of one finger into the warm, tight, comprehensively honest interior of a body that had been telling the truth this entire ti and was now telling it at higher volu.
’—AAAHNN~!!!—’
Her back arched.
Full arc. The vertebra-by-vertebra, absolute, non-negotiable arch of a body that had received sothing and was expressing the receiving with its full structural capacity.
"He was," he said.
"He was not—" Her voice was broken across the middle. "He is a good—"
He added the second finger.
The specific, deliberate, simultaneous entry of a second alongside the first, the additional incrent of the stretch that her body was experiencing as significant and reporting at full volu.
’—AAAHN~!!! HAANN~!!!—’
"—good man—" she tried.
PAH PAH PAH.
’—AAAHNN~!!! AHN~!!! AAAHN~!!!—’
The pace.
He had established a pace, the specific, physician’s-tered rhythm of soone who was conducting a thorough examination and had opinions about the thodology, and his two fingers were now moving with the flat, comprehensive authority of that pace through the tight, warm, wet interior of a woman whose chief’s brain was running at 23% capacity and whose body was running at full capacity and both of them were filing reports.
Her hands ca to his wrist.
Not the removal-grip. The anchor-grip. Both hands, white-knuckled, locked around his wrist — not moving it, not pulling it, simply needing sothing to hold that was not going anywhere.
"—Aah~... aaahn~... hngh~...—"
Her hips were moving.
She had not authorized this.
The hips were moving with the specific, involuntary, thoroughly honest micro-motion of a body that had received input and was participating in the input without clearing it with the relevant authorities.
He curled.
The specific, anatomically precise, physician’s curl — the deliberate targeting of the location that a body this age and this type kept its highest concentration of relevant nerve architecture, the flat, confident pressure of two fingers against the specific interior wall that produced the most unambiguous response available.
’—AAAHNNNN~!!!—’
Her thighs slamd together.
Around his wrist. The full, strong, cultivator’s-thigh grip of both legs closing with the specific, comprehensive urgency of a body that had just received sothing it assessed as requiring the imdiate involvent of all available architecture.
He continued.
PAH PAH PAAH.
’—HAANN~!!! AHN~!!! AAAHNN~!!!—’
Her voice had lost its managent structure.
The Chief’s voice — the specific, controlled, authoritative voice she had been using to run a compound for six years — had sowhere in the last three minutes been replaced by the specific, honest, completely unmanaged voice of a woman receiving sothing her body had been missing for months and was not filing with any delay at all.
"—can’t—" she said. "—can’t—I’m—sothing is—"
"Yes," he said.
"What is—"
He pressed again.
Hard.
PAAAH.
"—AAAHNNNN~~~~~!!!— S--SEN...HNGHH....IOR~~!!!"
