Now reading: Chapter 172 - 170: Victor’s Reward from Undead Mage from a Cell, a Game novel by Yu Min.

Upon Luna’s return to Yalidu City, Gu Xi let out a long sigh and slapped his face to wake himself up. Then he turned his gaze to his undead subordinates.

Although Luna left with part of the forces, Gu Xi still had enough troops in his command.

Gu Xi didn’t have to worry about not having enough forces after Luna’s departure.

After readjusting the undead corps, Gu Xi found a place to sit down, took out several skill books, and started reading.

Gu Xi had already learned from the previous two battles that the four new skills he acquired were quite useful in large fights.

Now having so free ti, Gu Xi decided to take out the four skill books and read them to enhance the experience and level of each skill.

While Gu Xi was reading, his undead were not idle either.

Several undead bosses were selecting and training undead not under their direct control.

They needed to understand how to coordinate on the battlefield.

At the sa ti, they allocated so weapons and equipnt to these undead.

The Skeleton Boss of Combat Squad 1 was even teaching so zombies how to use long spears.

However, the Undead Calamity Ritual Array was not all-powerful; they couldn’t magically provide matching weapons for the undead. Most of the thousands of undead soldiers still used bone weapons.

Yet, they were quite diligent, constantly practicing coordination with each other, regardless of how weak their weapons were.

Every twenty minutes or so, Gu Xi would look up at the undead, then look down and continue reading.

Outside the Undead Calamity Ritual Array, it was very safe, and no enemies had appeared.

Gu Xi didn’t know the reason, but for him, if no enemies appeared, he would just wait.

Ti passed quickly as Gu Xi read and trained.

After about four hours, the token protected by the city gate flashed white, and the voice of the Mage Leader ca through again.

"Comrades, we have repelled the first wave of enemy attacks. This is our victory. Now please have all players issue orders for their undead to raise their weapons."

Listening to the Mage Leader’s words, Gu Xi paused for a mont.

It seed that the reason no enemies had co over was that battles at other nodes hadn’t ended yet.

But why ask all the undead to raise their weapons? A new ceremony?

Although puzzled, Gu Xi still issued the order.

"Everyone, listen up, raise your weapons!"

After speaking, Gu Xi himself raised the Cold Wind Staff.

Under Gu Xi’s command, all the undead raised their weapons, even the ghosts without weapons raised their right hands.

In the next instant, countless bolts of lightning struck from the sky, hitting all the undead accurately.

Gu Xi himself also experienced the lightning strike.

After a tingling sensation, Gu Xi felt as if his power had increased.

He quickly checked his status and found a new line of text at the end of his status.

[Received Victor’s Reward: Level 1, Life and Mana doubled, lasting until the end of the Undead Calamity.]

After glancing at his status, Gu Xi quickly rushed to the front of his undead subordinates.

He discovered that his undead had also received enhancent, although they only received a Level 1 reward, which would last until the Undead Calamity Ritual Array ended.

It seed clear that this victor’s reward was to increase the level of the undead corps.

This was to give players stronger forces to confront increasingly powerful enemies in upcoming battles.

However, those receiving the most changes were the undead summoned or brought by the Undead Calamity Ritual Array.

Besides gaining an extra level, they also acquired so new weaponry.

Gu Xi noticed that this ti, the weaponry wasn’t just given out based on the basic path, but according to how players arranged their undead.

For example, the zombies being trained by the Skeleton Boss of Combat Squad 1 gained long spears rather than the usual hand axe and kitchen knife.

This realization made Gu Xi’s eyes light up, and he began to consider whether he should study the Undead Calamity Ritual.

This array seed incredibly useful.

At that mont, the voice of the Mage Leader ca through the token again.

"Comrades, be aware, the enemy will arrive in two hours. Now you can familiarize yourself with the newly strengthened subordinates. I hope you continue your efforts in two hours to kill all the enemies!"

"Let repeat, there are two hours until the enemy arrives. You can use this ti to get familiar with your subordinates’ strength, eat, drink, and rest to prepare for the new battle."

"This kind of battle, we still have three waves to face. I hope everyone can survive the upcoming battles."

Listening to the Mage Leader’s words, Gu Xi felt a bit puzzled.

He wondered if he had been abandoned; why did what the Mage Leader say differ from what he faced?

Just as Gu Xi was feeling confused, a large raven flew in from afar, landing right in front of him.

The sudden appearance of the raven puzzled Gu Xi, but when the raven extended its claw to show the letter attached, Gu Xi realized it was a ssenger from the Chaoyang Radiance Guild.

Gu Xi quickly took down the letter and opened it, discovering it was indeed a ssage from the Mage Leader to him.

"Comrade Gu, you must be wondering why your position differs from others.

Actually, where you are stationed is the starting point of the enemy’s invasion. You will encounter enemies earlier and more frequently than at other nodes.

Although I don’t quite understand why I haven’t received any feedback from the array indicating that your node has been attacked,

I trust that you are suppressing this node.

I also hope you can continue to guard this position well, regardless of the battle conditions elsewhere. As long as you protect your position, victory will be ours.

..."

As Gu Xi read the letter, the last bit of doubt in his heart slowly dissipated.

So aspects that puzzled Gu Xi were explained.

At the sa ti, Gu Xi also guessed so of the Mage Leader’s plans.

No matter how grand the plan was, in this battle, Gu Xi was just a piece on the chessboard, nailed down, unable to move.

"Seems like the power is still insufficient,"

Gu Xi’s gaze turned outside the Undead Calamity Array, with a hint of anticipation in his eyes.

"I’ve been waiting for you all for a long ti!"
