"Thank you, Brother Guard," You He expressed her gratitude, discreetly slipping the gold block into the guard’s palm.
This was a reward for his kind gesture.
If he had only let them into the city without ntioning those reminders, he might not have earned this gold block.
After the four of them had walked so distance away, the guard snapped out of his daze.
He opened his palm to see a gold block about a third the size of his hand, shining brightly.
The four of them entered Sangzhi City, and the surrounding buildings were quite unique. The main structures were predominantly blue and white, with blue tiles and white walls, giving a simple yet artistic feel.
"This Sangzhi City is quite interesting," Mu Qingge remarked as she noticed the nurous herbal shops within the city.
Almost every couple of shops bore a sign for an herbal shop. Moreover, besides the regular townsfolk, many people dressed in white robes and blue shirts were wandering among the herbal shops.
"I’ve been to Sangzhi City twice, but this is the first ti I’ve co in through the city gate," Si Mo smiled at her.
Mu Qingge ignored him and instructed You He, "Find out how to get to the Hundred Herbs Building that the guard ntioned."
"Yes, young lord," You He nodded and, along with Hua Yue, went to ask around separately.
Before long, the two maids returned to report to Mu Qingge, "Young lord, we’ve found the location of the Hundred Herbs Building. The guard wasn’t lying; today really is the last day for the dicine Tower to select apprentices. And in another hour, it will be over."
Mu Qingge nodded and instructed You He, "Hua Yue will lead the way, and you find us a quiet place to stay. We’ll probably be in Sangzhi City for a few more days."
You He bowed and left.
Hua Yue then led the way for the two of them.
On the road, Mu Qingge softly asked Si Mo, "We’ve reached Sangzhi City, when are you leaving?"
"Are you eager to see go, Ge’er?" Si Mo looked at Mu Qingge with hurt in his amber eyes.
As if Mu Qingge were an unfaithful lover who had abandoned him.
"Didn’t you say you had things to do here? Why don’t you hurry and do them instead of lingering around?" Mu Qingge frowned.
"Ge’er, do you find botherso?" Si Mo’s voice grew increasingly aggrieved.
Mu Qingge impatiently said, "What do you really want?"
’I don’t want anything, just to be with you,’ Si Mo thought to himself. But seeing Mu Qingge’s gloomy expression, he said nothing.
After a while, he said, "Don’t worry, Ge’er, when it’s ti to go, I’ll leave. Once you enter the dicine Tower, I’ll depart."
"Hmph." Mu Qingge flicked her sleeve and walked a few steps ahead, widening the distance between them.
Her deanor seed to express anger at Si Mo’s stubbornness.
But in truth, upon knowing the exact ti of his departure, she felt sowhat uneasy.
This feeling was strange. She wished Si Mo would leave imdiately, yet when she knew he was truly going, she felt uncomfortable.
"Why is it so strange?" Mu Qingge murmured with a frown.
This emotion was beyond her understanding, leaving her puzzled.
’If you can’t figure it out, just let it be! Go with the flow!’ Mu Qingge told herself, and her stern expression eased slightly.
Si Mo, who had been watching Mu Qingge closely, noticed her change in expression and felt sowhat disappointed.
’It seems this girl really can’t wait for to leave. The mont she heard I’m leaving, her expression improved.’ This realization left Si Mo sowhat helpless.
