After making a phone call, Lin Hai sat quietly to one side, trembling with fear. He didn't need to guess; a massive storm was about to descend.
「Ten minutes later.」
BANG.
The auction officially began.
After his opening remarks, the auctioneer went straight into auction mode. "A five-hundred-year-old Golden Thread Lotus. I presu everyone here is well aware of its rarity. It works wonders for certain diseases," he announced. "This is sothing that can save lives."
After a brief introduction, the auctioneer said, "The starting bid is twenty million, and each incrent must not be less than one million. Let the bidding begin!"
However, the room remained silent.
The auctioneer was left speechless.
Based on the information we gathered, this Golden Thread Lotus is supposed to be highly sought after. The final price might even exceed fifty million. But now... what, are all the people seated here dead?
The auctioneer wore an awkward expression. He had been in this industry for over a decade and had never encountered such a situation. "Er..." He laughed awkwardly. "Perhaps I didn't make myself clear earlier. This Golden Thread Lotus..."
After he repeated his description, the room remained utterly silent.
The auctioneer could no longer hide his embarrassnt, his face flushing beet red. He could see clearly that soone was sabotaging this.
He then narrowed his eyes and scanned the room. Soon, he zeroed in on a strange young man who had been resting his head on his hand from the very beginning, his eyes closed. He hadn't looked up once.
CREEK.
The doors of the auction house were pushed open.
A young man, flanked by a group of followers, walked slowly down the steps. Bathed in the backlight, his steps were steady and powerful. With his hands behind his back, he stood tall and faced the audience, projecting an air of dominance.
"Mr. Gan!"
Seeing this young man, the auctioneer acted as if he had seen a savior. He promptly spoke up and pointed at Chen Yang, who was still resting with his eyes closed, "Mr. Gan, this guy has been causing trouble here."
The newcor was none other than Gan Yuan, the young head of the Gan Family who controlled this region. At just over thirty years old, he had already assud an aura of undisputed superiority.
Upon hearing of the disturbance, he had made his way there. Lin Hai's call had gone to the Gan Family—specifically, to Gan Yuan's grandfather. Therefore, Gan Yuan had no idea who Chen Yang really was.
Suddenly, many people in the audience turned to look at Chen Yang, their gazes filled with anger and schadenfreude. So arrogant, aren't we? Let's see you keep it up now.
"So it's you who's causing trouble in my market and disrupting my auction?" Gan Yuan stood before Chen Yang, scanning him from head to toe. "I thought it was so powerful and formidable opponent, but it turns out to be just a little brat a few years younger than and not even fully grown?"
Gan Yuan stood haughtily, looking down on Chen Yang with disdain.
"Mr. Gan, it's this guy who's been playing tricks, preventing anyone from raising their bid paddles," the exasperated auctioneer added, pointing his finger accusatorily at Chen Yang.
"Oh?" Gan Yuan lifted his hand, and a subordinate imdiately handed him a cigarette and lit it. "From the looks of it, you intend to take every item here for yourself today?" Gan Yuan asked, holding his cigarette.
"'Take them all for myself' sounds a bit crude," Chen Yang said, slowly raising his head. "But yes, I am taking all of these items."
Hm? What does this guy an? Did he cause such a huge scene just to get these items at their starting price? Hah... What a pipe dream!
"Very well," Gan Yuan laughed, gesturing grandly with a wave of his hand to the auctioneer. "Bring out all the items and give him a bill."
"Right away!" the auctioneer cackled, his smile turning vicious. He agreed instantly and turned to leave.
Chen Yang said nothing, his face bearing a smile that was not quite a smile.
A wave of discussion swept through the crowd, their words dripping with scorn for Chen Yang. "He can still smile? He won't even have ti to cry when he sees that bill." "So arrogant. Does he have any idea where he is?"
It was obvious to anyone that Gan Yuan was going to present an exorbitant price. If Chen Yang wished to back out, it would probably be too late. Being able to leave here alive today would be a blessing from his ancestors.
Soon, the auctioneer returned, leading a group of people who brought out all of the day's auction items. They placed them one by one in front of Chen Yang before the auctioneer finally handed a list to Gan Yuan.
"Mr. Gan, the total is 230,000,000."
As soon as the number was announced, sharp gasps echoed through the venue.
So had previously calculated that the total final price for all of the items should have been a little over 100 million. In other words, the price had been more than doubled. How ruthless!
Gan Yuan threw the bill at Chen Yang. "Will you be paying by card or check?"
Chen Yang took the bill but didn't look at it. Instead, he asked Xie Jie, who was beside him, "Is everything here?"
"Yes! These all belong to my Xie Family!" Xie Jie was stunned. He couldn't understand what Chen Yang was doing. Does he really intend to buy them back at double the price?
What Chen Yang did next made his eyes widen in shock.
RIP.
Chen Yang tore the bill into tiny pieces. With a light flick of his right hand, the scraps fluttered onto Gan Yuan's face. "Yang Hu, collect these items."
"As you command." Yang Hu, a twitch at the corner of his mouth, shoved the auctioneer aside.
What does this an? everyone wondered, stunned. Does this guy really intend to take things without paying?
"Since you stole these items from the Xie Family, you shouldn't have any objections if I take them back now, right?" Chen Yang stood up, towering half a head over Gan Yuan, and gazed at him calmly with utmost seriousness.
The crowd was speechless. He's really trying to start sothing big. Yes, these items are from the Xie Family, but they're in Gan Yuan's hands now. On what grounds could he possibly take them back? It's pure fantasy!
Gan Yuan burst into loud laughter. "Kid, are you ssing with ?"
"I don't have ti to play gas with you." Chen Yang dusted off his sleeves and asked a question that completely perplexed Gan Yuan, "Did you co alone? Where is the Gan Family Head?"
Gan Yuan's patience was completely exhausted. He crushed his cigarette butt and pointed at Chen Yang's nose, his voice cold. "You bastard, who do you think you are, putting on airs in front of ? Do you really think you're soone important?"
CRACK!
With a slight movent, Chen Yang instantly crushed Gan Yuan's fingers, causing his face to contort imdiately.
"Ah..." The sudden, sharp pain made Gan Yuan collapse onto a nearby table.
Gan Yuan rose in a fury, bellowing, "You're seeking death!"
With a sickening rip, Gan Yuan's entire palm split open.
The scene left everyone watching completely speechless. So ruthless!
RUSTLE.
The n behind Gan Yuan imdiately sward forward and surrounded Chen Yang, every one of them emanating a murderous aura, their eyes filled with nace.
"You're done for!" Gan Yuan, covered in cold sweat and nearly fainting, ground his teeth. "If I don't chop you up and feed you to the dogs today, my na isn't Gan Yuan!
"Daring to lay a hand on , you clearly don't know how to write the word 'death'!"
The venue beca utterly silent. As locals, everyone knew this Mr. Gan's thods were exceptionally ruthless. At least eighty people, if not a hundred, had died at his hands.
RING... RING...
Gan Yuan's cellphone suddenly rang.
Seeing the call was from his grandfather, Gan Yuan imdiately answered. But before he could speak, his grandfather, a man who was normally calm and steady, shouted in a panic, "Run! Get out of dicine Capital as fast as you can!"
Gan Yuan was taken aback, stuttering, "Grandpa, what's happening? Why should I run?"
"Chen Yang is here!" the voice on the phone sounded unusually anxious. "It's the Supre Martial Commander, Chen Yang!"
Gan Yuan was speechless.
"He's right at your auction house. Don't go near there, just let him do whatever he wants."
Speechless once more, Gan Yuan slowly lifted his head to look at the young face before him. This... this...
"Did you hear ?" the voice on the other end demanded.
GULP.
Gan Yuan swallowed hard, his throat suddenly dry and hot. "He... he's right in front of ."
The other end of the line went silent.
