In a landmark hotel in Cangyun City.
Tang Yunxing, fresh from a bath, sat across from Chen Xiao, leisurely enjoying breakfast with a knife and fork. Qiu Hanqing stood respectfully to the side, not qualified to join them at the table.
Although the Southern Pole Royal Family and the Chen Clan royal family had their frictions and conflicts on a normal day, they now sat together because of Chen Yang. This only served to prove the old saying: there are no permanent friends or enemies, only permanent interests. With this opportunity bringing the young masters of the two great royal families together, it was entirely possible that their past disputes and friction could be completely nded.
On a nearby wall, a massive screen broadcasted the scene from the public square live. An endless sea of onlookers filled the space, their presence punctuated by the thunderous sound of war drums.
Chen Yang stood ramrod straight in the center of the square, still as a statue, immovable as a great bell.
"He does have a bit of an imposing air," Tang Yunxing remarked, withdrawing his gaze. He shook his head and cracked a smile. "But in my view, it's just an empty show. A facade."
"All style, no substance," Chen Xiao nodded in agreent, then raised his glass. "That piece of trash is, after all, a mber of the Chen Family. If I were to go down there and kill him, my actions would be morally indefensible. So this ti, I'll have to trouble you, Brother Tang."
"You're too kind." Tang Yunxing waved his hand grandly. "I actually hope the cur has so real skill. Otherwise, I'll be utterly disappointed." He added, "It would be terribly dull if he just got scared and kowtowed, begging for rcy."
"That shouldn't happen, right?" Chen Xiao chuckled, touching his nose. "If he really were to kneel, the Chen Family would be implicated and thoroughly disgraced by that piece of trash."
Though he said as much, Chen Xiao truly couldn't have cared less. Chen Yang was just a piece of trash, the descendant of a criminal. Besides, with the groundwork his Chen Family had already laid, it wouldn't matter if the man knelt down or even ate dung off the ground. What did that have to do with them?
Half an hour later, the two finished their breakfast and walked out of the hotel side by side. On the way, Tang Yunxing scoffed, "That pretentious mutt, making such a high-profile entrance. Isn't he afraid of how ugly his loss will be? He'll beco the laughingstock of the city."
"A stray dog should know its place as a stray dog. To put on such airs… it's utterly laughable!" Tang Yunxing sneered, his insults toward Chen Yang also serving to subtly emphasize the unparalleled nobility of his own royal lineage.
Looking across the entire land, who besides the royal families had the right to be so high-profile and ostentatious? Certainly not soone who had rely scraped together a few achievents in the Martial Departnt.
As soon as he spoke, voices erupted from the public, largely urging Tang Yunxing to be mindful of his own station, suggesting there was no need for him to lower himself by getting angry with a stray dog.
HAHAHA!
Sitting in the car with his legs crossed, Tang Yunxing leaned back with his hands behind his head and laughed heartily.
I really do need to be mindful of my station. Would killing a dog like that just dirty my hands?
He spat fiercely, as if disgusted by the very thought.
Chen Xiao did not accompany him, instead returning to the Chen Family estate to await the news.
anwhile, a restless murmur spread through the square and beyond as people began to question why Tang Yunxing of the Southern Pole Royal Family had yet to appear.
Their questions were t with a fierce rebuke from a royal family agent.
"Silence, all of you! Our Young Master is having his al. All of you will wait quietly where you are."
"He's nothing but a stray dog! The fact that Young Master Tang is gracing this place with his presence is already a great kindness! Do you really think a dog like that is even worthy of our Young Master's attention?"
These forceful pronouncents simultaneously highlighted Tang Yunxing's lofty status and trampled Chen Yang into worthless dust. Killing two birds with one stone.
Less than half an hour later, a convoy of vehicles stopped beside the square. The n who disembarked all carried an extraordinary air, striding confidently toward the plaza. The leader walked with the stride of a dragon and the gait of a tiger, his eyes as sharp as torches, his black robe fluttering in the wind.
It was none other than Tang Yunxing's uncle, Tang Tai.
"A maggot-like dog who loves putting on airs? An ant will always be an ant. The notion of Ants Shaking a Tree is truly amusing," Tang Tai said with a cold laugh after glancing at Chen Yang.
"And where are those old bastards who supported you before? Do they only dare to speak from a distance, lacking the courage to face my Southern Pole Royal Family?" Tang Tai sneered, his eyes scanning the area and noticing that besides Yang Hu, no one else stood with Chen Yang. "A bunch of old cowards. Once I have the ti, I'll be sure to teach them how to behave."
Chen Yang remained silent, acting as if he hadn't heard a word.
"Coward!" Tang Tai pointed a finger at Chen Yang before sweeping his gaze across the entire crowd, his voice thundering like a drum. "From this day forward, if anyone dares to challenge the position of my royal family, their fate will be the sa as this piece of trash!"
"Do you all understand?"
A deathly silence fell in the wake of his booming voice. This was, without a doubt, a case of killing the chicken to scare the monkey—they were making an example of him.
"What are you still standing there for? Kneel at once! Wait for my Yunxing to arrive and surrender," Tang Tai's gaze refocused on Chen Yang. His expression seed to say 'I'm doing this for your own good' as he stated frankly that for Tang Yunxing, killing a mundane piece of trash like him would be as easy as slicing lons and chopping vegetables.
The wind howled like a drum.
Chen Yang didn't move an inch. For a petty villain like this, basking in borrowed glory, even gracing him with a single word would be a waste of breath.
All eyes were fixed on the scene, watching intently.
SKRRRT!
A luxury vehicle arrived fashionably late.
Tang Yunxing, holding a cigar, stepped slowly onto the field, flanked by an entourage of more than a dozen followers.
"Is that him? Young Master Tang Yunxing? He truly is magnificent, like a descended immortal."
"Looks like the life of Chen Yang, the forr Supre Martial Commander, is finally coming to an end."
Walking through the rising tide of discussion, Tang Yunxing kept one hand casually in his pocket, looking more like a leisurely tourist than a combatant. Every gesture radiated confidence and high spirits.
"The wind is a bit strong today. Quite uncomfortable," Tang Yunxing said, casting a light glance at Chen Yang. "You've been obedient enough, so I'll grant you a quick death today."
"What are you waiting for? Thank him for his grace!" Tang Tai barked.
WHOOSH!
A tsunami of excited shouts erupted from the crowd, the sound rolling across the square. They were all praising Tang Yunxing's domineering presence, urging him not to show any rcy.
Tang Yunxing smirked, stubbed out his cigar, and placed one hand behind his back. "I am a man of my word, and I disdain bullying the weak. I said I'd fight you with one hand, and so I shall."
He then beckoned to Chen Yang with his finger.
Chen Yang, who had been standing with his eyes closed in ditation, suddenly opened them.
Two cold glints, like lightning, shot from his eyes, piercing the air in the blink of an eye before vanishing just as quickly.
Tang Yunxing, who had been wearing a confident, smug smile, suddenly froze. His pupils contracted so rapidly it was visible to the naked eye.
Under the watchful gaze of thousands, the black-armored Chen Yang turned his head slightly. It was a minuscule movent, yet his gaze was as sharp as a blade, the chilling aura around him becoming almost tangible.
"This, this..." Tang Tai's heart lurched violently. He reacted in an instant, roaring with all his might, "RETREAT! RETREAT NOW!"
His reaction was swift, but it was too late.
BOOM!
In a flash of blinding speed, Tang Yunxing's hand—the one that had been raised in a beckoning gesture—simply vanished into thin air.
"Since you were so generous as to offer one hand," Chen Yang said indifferently, "I'll do you the favor of taking the other."
Tang Yunxing: "..."
The crowd: "..."
What... what in the world just happened?
