The sun shone brightly.

On this day, which should have been for visiting family and friends, a massive campaign in Hanyun Valley plunged the entire nation and its countless citizens into a state of somberness and oppression. The warm sun blazed in a sky without wind or waves. Tens of millions waited anxiously for the battle in Hanyun Valley to end.

No one dared to speculate on the final outco, not even the Martial Guards who had been retired for years or the forebears of the Elders' Court. They too spent a sleepless night, anxiously awaiting news from the front line.

This battle was undoubtedly a large-scale operation. The Barbarians had been preparing for it since last year when they swept through the ten nations, and now they had arrived with an army of over three million elite troops. Moreover, the army was led by the forr martial fanatic and ruthless figure, Heiqi, as its Commander. With both sides combined, the forces exceeded six million n—a truly terrifying and shocking number.

"According to sporadic news from Nann City, this battle, which has lasted over a dozen hours, is extrely fierce."

「In Barbarian territory, by the banks of the Distant River.」

Within a grand, secluded estate, a woman stood ticulously tending to a begonia tree with a pair of small scissors. Clad in a floral cheongsam and high heels, with her dark hair swept up high, her slender neck and alluring collarbone left a lasting impression. Though approximately forty years old, she still possessed a mature charm and a voluptuous figure, exuding an aura of nobility.

The middle-aged lady's surna was Wang, her given na, Yan.

Twenty years ago, she had ventured alone into Yuning Mountain. Just a year ago, she re-entered the mortal world and returned to her hotown. As it happened, the Barbaric New Sovereign, the formidable Heiqi, was her younger cousin.

She had thought she would spend the rest of her days by the Distant River, living peacefully among the flowers and plants. But who could have imagined…

The mountains and rivers are about to fall?

"Auntie, a group of people has arrived outside. They're kneeling on the ground, begging you to co out of seclusion," a young woman of about twenty-seven or twenty-eight cautiously approached Wang Yan and whispered.

Wang Yan set down the scissors and glanced northward. Even Heiqi has been defeated? Has it reached the point where the Barbarians won't survive unless I co out of seclusion?

Wang Yan looked up, letting the cold wind blow through her hair.

"Bring my sword."

"Yes, Auntie."

Who could have imagined that this noblewoman, who had cultivated on Yuning Mountain in her youth and remained aloof from the secular world even after her return, would one day step onto a battlefield?

Holding the Green Peak sword, the noblewoman stepped forward. Her entire deanor changed, becoming sharp and fierce.

***

「Phoenix Water Mountain.」

The peak was enveloped by the warm sun.

With Liu Wu leading the four-hundred-thousand-strong Martial Guard in a pincer move from behind, the previously dominant Barbarian army suddenly lost its nerve and began to crumble. In contrast, the National Defense forces seed to have been injected with a powerful stimulant, their battle cries shaking the heavens. The black-armored Barbarian army dwindled at a visible rate.

"King, kill him!" a Barbarian general roared. He had just been hacked to the ground by Liu Wu. His face was caked in blood, and his crimson eyes were fixed on Heiqi at the summit of Phoenix Water Mountain. With the arrival of the enemy's unexpected reinforcents, the Barbarian defeat was inevitable. His only hope was that Heiqi could kill Chen Yang and deliver a decapitation strike—one that would demoralize the enemy and perhaps even turn the tide of battle.

SLASH!

Liu Wu's greatsword swung down, sending a wave of blood into the air.

The sa scene unfolded endlessly across the vast, snowy plains.

SWISH!

The Traveling Dragon Sword was so fast that it drew a golden arc of light across the sky above the two armies.

"Slash."

Barely a hundred ters apart, Chen Yang pointed his fingers like a blade and slashed down toward Heiqi. The Traveling Dragon Sword followed his movent, striking down from a hundred ters high.

"This sword of mine can sunder mountains and rivers, it can cleave the Canghai, and it can certainly cut you down, Heiqi!"

Chen Yang's armor was shattered and soaked in blood, giving him a grueso and desolate appearance under the sunlight. His face was as pale as paper, as if a single gust of wind might blow him off the mountain peak. But he stood tall, his presence soaring to the heavens. He knew that his brothers below were waiting for him to slay Heiqi.

"Break!" Chen Yang roared. As the Traveling Dragon Sword swooped down, he gripped his spear in one hand and followed closely behind.

With that one sword strike, the summit of Phoenix Water Mountain was suddenly engulfed in billowing yellow sand. The sandstorm swept across the landscape, carving a terrifying scar in the ground that pointed directly at Heiqi.

This… Is that a Treasure Weapon?!

"So what?" Heiqi bellowed, retreating a step. He sank his weight down, arching his body like a bow as he raised his war spear horizontally over his head to block.

The Traveling Dragon Sword and the war spear clashed head-on in a fierce collision.

BOOM!!

A brilliant shower of sparks exploded in the air, its light so bright it seed to dim the rising sun.

CRACK!

The war spear split in two. The armor on Heiqi's body also burst open, its fragnts scattering in all directions. Under the force of the impact, Heiqi spat out a large mouthful of blood, his expression wilting. Yet, he used the montum to rise with the wind, retreating rapidly while forming a palm with his five fingers and striking out fiercely.

A loud explosion resounded.

Atop Phoenix Water Mountain, all vegetation was shattered, and boulders were annihilated. Even the Traveling Dragon Sword was montarily stopped. The swirling yellow sand that had filled the sky exploded again, turning into fine powder that floated and lingered above the summit, gathering without dispersing.

THUMP.

Heiqi crashed to the ground, creating a deep pit. Countless cracks spread out in all directions, and everything in their path exploded. He was trying to disperse the force of the blow. Even so, his injuries were severe; blood seeped from his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. The remaining pieces of his armor shattered completely, falling at his feet.

Chen Yang cut across the sky, seized the Traveling Dragon Sword, and accelerated.

SHUNK!!

The longsword pierced Heiqi's chest. Heiqi grabbed the blade with both hands, resisting desperately.

THUMP!

Chen Yang released his grip and kicked the hilt of the sword. The trendous force sent the blade flying for more than ten ters, ultimately pinning the new Barbaric New Sovereign askew to the very edge of the mountain. His entire body was left suspended in mid-air, dangling over the precipice.

"How about that?" Chen Yang asked, narrowing his eyes as he pointed his spear at Heiqi.

"Hehe…" Heiqi laughed, a bitter and tragic sound. "Chen Yang, don't celebrate too soon!"

anwhile, on the battlefield below, a sudden roar from Yang Hu echoed across the plains. "Your King is defeated! Surrender now!"

The next second, countless pairs of eyes turned to the summit and saw Heiqi, impaled by the longsword.

"This…"

For the Barbarian army, it was as if their very backbone had collapsed. What little morale they had left vanished in an instant, and a full-scale rout began.

"Kill them all! Spare no one!"

"Kill!"

Yang Hu and Liu Wu t, brandishing their war sabers and roaring with all their might. Following them ca the collective roar of a million n.

"KILL!"

What followed was a one-sided slaughter.

「About half an hour later.」

The battle, which had lasted nearly twenty hours, ca to an abrupt end on the vast wilderness. It was as if the entire world had fallen silent.

A commander's flag, held by Ning Kun, had remained standing at the very forefront of the formation. At this mont, there wasn't a breath of wind. Ning Kun, already covered in scars and suffering from multiple stab wounds, powerfully swung his arms, making the standard flutter as if in a strong gale.

"re Barbarians think they can trample our lands?!" Ning Kun's blood-red eyes stared fixedly in the direction of the Barbarian Capital.

However, what entered his vision was a white arc of light swiftly approaching.

SQUELCH!!

A long spear pierced Ning Kun's body, trailing a long streak of blood.

Ning Kun swayed and collapsed to his knees. But his hands clung tightly to the flagpole, as if they were welded to it. Blood gushed from his mouth, yet his eyes still shone with a brilliant light.

As long as I live, the flag stands! If I die, the flag must not fall!!
