At that mont, at the entrance to the Luo Family's estate, powerful figures with imposing auras occasionally made their entrance. The mournful toll of a funeral bell slowly sounded, and the chanting of Taoist priests was incessant.
Luo Chen's father, Luo Changyao, stood to one side of the main hall with a grieving expression, a small white flower pinned to his chest. Luo Chen's coffin was placed in the hall of the front courtyard. Thanks to the mortician's ticulous work, Luo Chen appeared to be in a deep sleep, the wound on his neck reduced to a faint trace.
"Ye Qing, Patriarch of the Ye Family! One bow... a second bow..."
"Zhao Gongyang, Patriarch of the Zhao Family..."
"..."
Everything proceeded in an orderly fashion, but the atmosphere was oppressive and somber.
"Brother Luo, my condolences," Zhao Gongyang said softly, approaching Luo Changyao to comfort him.
Luo Changyao nodded, forcing a smile in response. He had only one son, who had died in his pri; the pain in his heart was indescribable.
It was at this very mont that a commotion erupted from the entrance, accompanied by the sound of fists and feet colliding.
Hmm?
In an instant, many people furrowed their brows and looked over. Even Luo Changyao and Zhao Gongyang slowly turned their heads. Beneath a sea of black umbrellas, a young figure accompanied by three girls was making his way toward the hall. Several of the Luo Family's guards followed closely behind, on high alert.
"Who is that? So young and yet he dares to force his way into the Luo Family estate?"
"This doesn't look good. He's clearly co with ill intentions."
A wave of murmurs spread through the crowd.
"Such a grand lineup?" The young man, holding a longsword, swept his gaze over the scene and spoke indifferently. "But does soone like him really deserve it?"
The implication was clear: Luo Chen didn't deserve such a lavish funeral. This statent was outrageous.
No sooner had the words left his mouth than Luo Changyao exploded. "Where did this trash co from?" he roared coldly. "What, are you looking for trouble?"
"Two n, throw him out!"
"What kind of place do you think this is? Have you no sense of propriety or upbringing?!"
Losing a son in middle age was already heartbreaking. Now, to have soone arrive and cause a scene was like rubbing salt in Luo Changyao's wounds.
"To dare cause trouble at my Luo Family's ho, you must be tired of living!"
Overco with rage, Luo Changyao strode forward and blocked the young man—Qin Hao. Staring at him with icy eyes, he growled, "Get out now, or don't bla for what happens next!"
The other guests watched quietly. One among them, however, saw an opportunity. His eyes darted around before he quickly stepped forward.
"Second Master Luo, you mustn't get angry over so lowlife of unknown origin. Anger is bad for your health! Let a subordinate like handle such a trivial matter!"
This man had been very close to Luo Chen. With Luo Chen dead, his patron was gone. Desperate to curry favor with the Luo Family, he had eagerly jumped at the chance to prove his worth.
Luo Changyao's expression softened slightly, clearly approving of the man's suggestion.
The man, whose na was Liu Jun, imdiately bead. "You should focus on overseeing the proceedings today. Why dirty your hands with such trash?"
"I am Liu Jun!" he declared, puffing out his chest proudly. "I will handle this for you."
He turned to Qin Hao, his hands on his hips. Wielding his borrowed authority with practiced ease, he sneered, "Listen up, kid, I'll only say this once. Get on your knees and apologize, then crawl back to wherever you ca from. Understand?"
The surrounding crowd remained silent, observing the unfolding drama.
"Don't be afraid," Qin Hao said, turning to smile at Sun Xiaoli and the other girls. "I promised the Boss I would protect you all."
To prevent any mishaps, Chen Yang had specifically arranged for Qin Hao to escort the three girls here.
"I-I'm not afraid." Sun Xiaoli nodded, then pointed a trembling finger at Liu Jun. "He's one of the ones who tricked us onto the rooftop of the Ancient Cliff Hotel."
Liu Jun froze. His attention had been focused entirely on Qin Hao until now. Looking closely at the girls, he realized they did seem familiar.
The surrounding guests exchanged bewildered glances. Many knew about the incident at the Ancient Cliff Grand Hotel; it was the very reason Young Master Luo Chen had been killed.
So, the victims have co for justice?
Imdiately, the guests began to size up the girls, but their gazes soon converged on Qin Hao. They began to wonder: could this be the man who murdered Young Master Luo Chen?
"Bullshit!" Liu Jun denied vehently. "I am a man of so repute in Cangyun City! How could I possibly be involved with trash like you? Are you deliberately trying to insult ?" Although this was the Luo Family's territory, such an affair was still a disgrace.
"That's right, he was one of them," another girl confird.
The atmosphere beca awkward. Liu Jun, who had just been trying to seize this opportunity to latch onto the powerful Luo Family, felt his face twist. His eyes darted about, all of his previous bravado gone.
Qin Hao nodded earnestly. "Should I kill him for you?"
At his words, the atmosphere at the scene instantly froze. Many people's eyelids twitched uncontrollably. They had all suspected today's funeral would not be peaceful, but no one had imagined it would escalate so quickly and so directly.
"Kid, do you have any idea what you're saying?" Luo Changyao said coldly. "Believe it or not, I will cut you down right here, even if it ans staining this mourning hall with blood!"
Qin Hao paid him no mind. He tilted his head thoughtfully. "I should probably leave this for the Boss to handle, but... I find you annoying."
He reached out and slapped Liu Jun across the face, sending him sprawling to the ground.
CRACK!
The sharp report echoed through the front hall.
Luo Changyao was speechless.
Everyone else was speechless.
What a hot-tempered brat.
Most importantly, this was the Luo Family Ancestral Mansion, during Luo Chen's funeral!
"You're courting death!" Luo Changyao roared, his face contorting with rage.
SWOOSH!
An old man suddenly appeared at Luo Changyao's side. Staring toward the main gate, he said in a low voice, "Second Master, we have trouble."
Hmm?
Luo Changyao raised an eyebrow and instinctively looked up. The other guests, sensing sothing as well, all turned their heads in unison.
Only Qin Hao remained as still as a statue.
Two young n, one behind the other, entered the courtyard at a leisurely pace. The one in the back was tall and powerfully built, holding a black umbrella. He stared straight ahead, a chillingly wicked smirk playing on his lips. The one in front had his hands clasped behind his back, a faint, unreadable smile on his face.
What an overwhelming presence!
At first glance, everyone understood. The real trouble had just arrived.
Already seething, Luo Changyao felt himself about to snap. He laughed nacingly, "What, are you also here to challenge the might of my Luo Family? It seems blood must be spilled today after all."
Amidst the swirling snow and wind, the man—who was none other than Chen Yang—lifted his eyes. His face was ordinary, yet it commanded a respect that defied his appearance.
"This snow has been falling for long enough."
Chen Yang remarked as he walked into the front courtyard, then took another step.
And with that single step...
BOOM!
Every single flagstone in the thousand-square-ter courtyard exploded. The accumulated snow on the ground billowed into the air and vanished without a trace, leaving only a swirling white mist.
"This... this..."
Luo Changyao, who had assud this newcor was just another reckless fool courting death like the first, felt his mind completely short-circuit.
The upper-class guests present felt the violent tremor shake the ground beneath them. They could only stand there, dumbfounded, their expressions utterly blank.
