Chen Yang's gaze fixed on his target as he unleashed a strike.
The Traveling Dragon Sword, a mid-grade Treasure Weapon, shot toward Li Jiangong with the speed of lightning. It sliced through the air, its frosty Sword Qi descending like a curtain from the heavens.
"Courting death."
A cold smirk crossed Li Jiangong's face. He shook his head and slashed with his war blade.
The enormous penetrating force knocked the Traveling Dragon Sword from Chen Yang's grasp, sending him tumbling backward once more.
BOOM! He crashed to the ground.
Chen Shangwu's face was grim as he roared, "Chen Yang, you can't be his match! The gap in your cultivation realms is not sothing you can overco with sheer passion alone."
"But in the future, you will be able to!"
"Listen to ! Chen Hua and I will hold them off. Use all your strength to escape from here, do you hear ?"
Using his hands and feet, Chen Yang struggled to stand. His blood-sared face revealed a faint smile. "If you want to leave, then go on your own."
Chen Yang picked up the Traveling Dragon Sword and began dragging it behind him as he walked toward Li Jiangong again.
Chen Shangwu gritted his teeth, feeling the urge to kill.
This damn brat, why is he as stubborn as a mule?
"Chen Hua, let's attack together."
Chen Shangwu shook his head helplessly and said no more. He instructed the nearby Chen Hua while gripping his own broken saber tightly.
BOOM!
Across the plaza, the booming sound of explosions echoed incessantly.
As Li Jiangong raised his sword to counter, his eyebrows twitched. He could clearly feel that with every blow Chen Yang took, a sliver of the attack's force was guided into his own body.
Is he using external force to break through his bottleneck? What a ruthless man!
At Li Jiangong's level, he naturally knew this thod could be effective, but it was fraught with imnse danger. It was akin to swallowing a sword; one wrong move, and he'd be torn to shreds.
"Trash. I'll cut you down."
Li Jiangong cast aside his contempt. With a single swing of his blade, he once again sent the Traveling Dragon Sword flying. The edge of his blade grazed Chen Yang's shoulder blade, instantly peeling the flesh back to expose the stark white bone beneath.
If the Traveling Dragon Sword hadn't dissipated most of the force, that strike would have been enough to slice Chen Yang in two.
"Hmm?"
Annoyed, Li Jiangong's eyes flashed with a bone-chilling glint. He thrust his palm toward Chen Shangwu's chest.
CLANG!
At the sa ti, the gleaming arc of a heavy saber swept through the air, aiming for Chen Hua's head.
Enraged, Chen Yang summoned his Dharma Golden Body. He snatched the Traveling Dragon Sword from the ground and, with sheer force, deflected the saber strike by several inches, its edge whistling past Chen Hua's scalp.
In that sa instant, Li Jiangong's strike pierced Chen Shangwu's shoulder blade. Blood sprayed like a blooming mist before him.
"Let's see how long you all can last," Li Jiangong sneered, taking several steps forward, wreathed in a chilling, murderous aura.
One punch.
BOOM!
The Dharma Golden Body instantly shattered. Chen Yang was sent flying like a bag of trash, tumbling to the ground in a spray of blood.
"Three cripples. Even if you join forces, you can't get near . Do you still think you can turn the tables?" Li Jiangong scoffed.
A premonition struck Chen Yang's heart, and he imdiately looked up.
THUD!
The Sovereign of the Chen Clan, the burly Chen Shangwu, could no longer remain standing. He fell to his knees, his expression ashen with despair.
Chen Yang struggled to crawl forward. "You... how are you?"
"It's nothing." Chen Shangwu waved a hand, blood pouring from his wound.
He knew it was impossible to block the attack, but he had tried anyway. Yet, when the expected outco finally arrived, his heart was still filled with unwillingness. For instance, he had failed to protect Chen Yang. And to his dying breath, Chen Yang still hadn't agreed to inherit the position of Chen Family Sovereign.
"I know a divine physician! He can definitely cure you!" Chen Yang yelled.
Chen Shangwu waved his hand again and said weakly, "Chen Yang, I don't bla you. After understanding what you've done, and what you're about to do, I feel nothing but admiration."
"I, Chen Shangwu, and the entire Chen Family will be proud of you."
Bringing order from chaos, carving a clear sky from the turmoil. How many would dare to do such a thing? How many possess that kind of courage?
"Don't say any more," Chen Yang said.
In truth, he had experienced a mont of doubt just now. Was what I'm doing really worth it? What were my chances of success?
He didn't know.
WHOOSH.
The wind and snow whipped furiously under the churning dark clouds.
Chen Yang struggled to his feet and looked up at the gloomy sky. His bloodshot eyes stared quietly, unblinking, like a stone statue. He repeatedly asked himself: was it really necessary to go to such lengths?
Was it truly worth it?
He had never questioned it before, but now...
Perhaps it was too tragic? Had too many people died? Or had his own life simply reached its end?
He had often heard that before dying, a person reflects on their entire life. In that final mont, all the things they couldn't see through or let go of would simply vanish like smoke.
SWISH!
Li Jiangong clearly had no intention of giving Chen Yang a mont to breathe. Another slash ca hurtling toward him.
Chen Yang rapidly retreated. Waiting for death was not his style.
Just as he was about to counterattack, his mind suddenly sensed a powerful and incredibly sharp presence approaching with blinding speed.
It ca from the Jade Pendant in his pocket. The Jade Pendant from Liu Qingi, which she had given him at Phoenix Water Mountain beyond Hanyun Valley.
She had said it could save his life one day.
This wisp of energy had erged from the now-shattered Jade Pendant.
CLANG!
A silvery-white light spread out before Chen Yang, effortlessly knocking aside Li Jiangong's descending war blade.
"This..."
The sudden turn of events stunned everyone.
This was especially true for Li Jiangong, the webbing of his hand now torn open from the force. His expression flickered, his eyes filled with shock and wariness.
"This... this is..."
He sensed a familiar aura from this ray of white light. Was it from Red Lotus Valley? From that woman, Liu Qingi?
Chen Yang naturally felt it as well.
WHOOSH!
Chen Yang's eyes narrowed to slits. He took a deep breath, and when he reopened them, they flashed with a cold, piercing light.
"SWORD, CO!"
The white light, as if sentient, converged into a single stream and poured into the Traveling Dragon Sword in Chen Yang's hand.
With a swing of his arm, he was like a roaming dragon tearing through the sky as he charged straight at Li Jiangong.
STOMP! STOMP! STOMP!
Li Jiangong staggered back several steps, dazed and clumsy. He already harbored a deep-seated fear of Liu Qingi, the woman who liked to throw knives.
Furthermore, this sword strike was truly powerful!
CRACK!
The war blade in Li Jiangong's hand broke on impact. The sword light entered his body, erupting with a massive roar.
This royal of the West Sea imdiately went limp, collapsing to his knees on the ground.
"Heh... heheh..." Li Jiangong laughed, a miserable, broken sound. "So, Liu Qingi left a trump card behind after all. That woman..."
His words cut off.
Li Jiangong died on the spot.
Heaven and earth fell silent.
"Now this is interesting."
From a nearby teahouse, Tu Su had witnessed the entire process. He had been feeling bored, but now, his interest was thoroughly piqued.
"Who could have guessed?" Tu Su asked with a smile, turning to the middle-aged man behind him.
The middle-aged man shook his head. "Indeed, it's quite surprising."
"Can you tell what that white light was?"
The middle-aged man shook his head again, indicating he did not know.
"Co, let's go have a closer look."
With a gentle press of his hands on the railing, Tu Su floated down from the teahouse.
