The spring breeze stirred, casting a shimring light across the river's surface.
"Heh..." Gu Shuheng chuckled and turned to the driver in the van. "Did you hear that? This guy just said he's going to kill ."
"Young Master, he did indeed say that," the driver nodded, a playful smile on his face.
"How amusing!" Gu Shuheng shook his head and motioned for the driver to pass him his sword. Holding it in one hand, he said with a mirthless smile, "A nobody from who knows where not only refuses to co over and greet properly but actually thinks he can fight ? This mundane world is truly full of self-righteous, ignorant trash."
As soon as he finished, the driver burst out laughing and volunteered with an air of invincibility, "A subordinate like can handle trash from the mundane world. There's no need for you to act personally, Young Master." He was confident he could finish the man in three moves.
Gu Zhiqing, her face impassive, shook her head. She glanced at Chen Yang, who was crossing the river, and said indifferently, "We're just passing by. Why do you need to provoke him?"
"He should count himself blessed that I deigned to speak to him," Gu Shuheng scoffed. "Besides, does trash like him even deserve to be 'provoked' by ?"
"If he's trash, then there are no geniuses in this world. You are far too arrogant," Gu Zhiqing stated.
Gu Shuheng turned to her, puzzled. "What, are you familiar with this person?"
"I know him."
Gu Zhiqing closed the car window. A mont later, her voice ca through faintly. "This is trouble of your own making. I won't help you. We're not that close."
Hmm?
Gu Shuheng was perplexed for a mont, then he raised an eyebrow in disdain. "Gu Zhiqing, who are you looking down on? Do I need your help to deal with so trash from the mundane world? And in the future, while you're so busy looking up to yourself, try not to look down on others."
There was no response.
"Hmph!" The exchange only fueled Gu Shuheng's rage. How dare she compare so naless piece of trash to him? Ridiculous! "I will slay you right here on this river."
CLANG.
Gu Shuheng drew his sword.
BOOM!
Just as he was about to strike, he felt a fierce gust of wind blasting toward his face.
"What?!"
Gu Shuheng's expression changed dramatically. He instinctively brought his longsword up to block. A heaven-shaking explosion erupted as his sword, along with his shoulder blade, shattered completely. The imnse force sent him flying more than ten ters through the air before he crashed harshly to the ground. His bones instantly shattered, wounds tore open, and blood gushed out.
The driver, who had just jumped out of the car, was frozen on the spot. His eyes were wide with terror, his legs rooted to the ground, too scared to even twitch.
"Cough, cough." Gu Shuheng struggled to his feet, blood continuously spilling from his mouth. His face twitched as he stared at Chen Yang, his eyes filled with horror and disbelief. Who on earth is this person? He, Gu Shuheng, couldn't even take a single blow from his opponent?
Seeing Chen Yang still eyeing him, clearly not finished, the once-haughty Gu Shuheng drew a sharp breath. He yelled desperately toward the van, "Gu Zhiqing, are you just going to stand there and watch?"
"You caused this problem, so you solve it. If you can't and end up getting killed, you'll have deserved it." A light, utterly detached voice drifted from the car, echoing along the riverbanks.
Gu Shuheng's face turned a deep, furious purple. He knew Gu Zhiqing's character all too well. That cold, iceberg-like woman always ant what she said. Although they both hailed from the Biluo Sword Valley and shared the surna Gu, ever since that incident, she had ceased to consider the Sword Valley her ho.
At the sa ti, Gu Shuheng recalled Gu Zhiqing's earlier words. Was she trying to warn ?
"It seems your injuries have mostly healed, Supre Martial Commander," Gu Zhiqing said indifferently from within the car. "It's a pity so people have grown so arrogant, thinking the na of Biluo Sword Valley allows them to act without restraint."
"Supre Martial Commander?" Gu Shuheng froze, and then his eyes bulged. He sucked in a breath. "You... you're Chen Yang?"
As if struck by lightning, Gu Shuheng jerked violently, a reaction that tore at his nurous injuries. He staggered and fell to one knee, the sudden movent catching him completely off guard. His driver scrambled back several paces until his back was pressed against the van, holding his breath, not daring to move. Any thought he'd had of helping was now gone.
After the recent great battle, how could they not have heard of the Supre Martial Commander of the mundane world? They knew the strength of Tu Cunshan, a mighty Half-step Divine Conquest, yet Chen Yang had cut him down.
Have I run into a ghost?
"I... I am a core mber of the Biluo Sword Valley. I was just passing by. I had a bit too much to drink earlier and wasn't thinking clearly, so I spoke so nonsense. Please, don't hold it against ," Gu Shuheng stamred, wiping a trickle of blood from his lips as he repeatedly apologized to Chen Yang. As they say, discretion is the better part of valor. He just had to survive this ordeal first.
Chen Yang glanced at him but said nothing.
Gu Shuheng's expression was tense. Cold sweat poured down his pale face. "I truly know I was wrong. Please give a chance to make ands."
"I'm not your father," Chen Yang said. "I can't wait around for you to turn over a new leaf."
What does that an?
A sense of dread washed over Gu Shuheng. His eyes, gradually turning red with fury, locked onto the van. Gu Zhiqing in the car clearly knew who he was, so why didn't she just tell ? Now I've really picked a fight I can't win.
"Gu Zhiqing, what is the aning of this?" Gu Shuheng demanded, completely forgetting that he was the one who had started the unprovoked confrontation.
Inside the van, Gu Zhiqing's face remained impassive, but she let out a cold laugh, clearly displeased with his tone.
Gu Shuheng exploded with rage. "My father is up on the mountain! Aren't you afraid he'll co after you for setting up like this?"
"If you're not strong enough, then learn so humility!" a mont later, her indifferent voice floated out of the van. "Why should I solve a problem you created for yourself?"
Gu Shuheng's face went ashen. We're family, after all. Does she really have to be so heartless?
CLANG!
The Ancestral Sword in Chen Yang's hand suddenly left its sheath.
Gu Shuheng, who had been seething with fury a mont ago, began to tremble violently, his face the color of death.
"You wanted to greet you with a bow?" Chen Yang ran a hand along the blade, his gaze piercingly cold. "Forgive , but who are you?"
