Zhao Ru Hai glared at Lin Chen, always feeling that Lin Chen’s tone was not so much inquiring as it was mocking him.
“I warned you before, but you didn’t listen, claiming that ‘others wouldn’t dare to make a move.’ Now that everyone’s been killed, aren’t you ashad?”
Zhao Ru Hai nodded stiffly, “Yes.”
Lin Chen sighed, “What a pity, this matter was originally… well, I won’t delay you any longer. Go and make your report, you go first!”
Lin Chen had actually arrived first and by rights, should have been the first to seek an audience with the Palace Lord, but he had voluntarily given way, allowing Zhao Ru Hai to go ahead.
Zhao Ru Hai didn’t know what to say for a mont and could only mutter an acknowledgnt before hurrying forward, speaking briefly to the guard, and then was ushered in by command of the Palace Lord.

Bai Zhu chuckled. She was accustod to Lin Chen’s casual manner of speaking.
Truth be told, she quite liked Lin Chen’s attitude, and she knew that the Palace Lord felt the sa way internally.
Having been so high and mighty for so long, dealing with everyone in a frosty, hierarchical relationship, it was actually quite interesting to encounter soone who spoke and acted like an old friend and yet wasn’t at all off-putting.
The Palace Lord sat in a chair inside the room, watching Lin Chen walk in through the door. “The team dispatched by the Giant Bear Army to the Blood Demon Palace t with catastrophe, and all were killed. What are your thoughts?”

If it had been anyone else being asked by the Palace Lord, even Army Commanders with significant power in their hands would definitely have answered respectfully, not daring to reply as Lin Chen did with a counter-question.
The Palace Lord, however, wasn’t angry, and her eyes even showed a trace of amusent, “Tell both the truth and the lies.”
Lin Chen nodded, his face displaying a heavy expression, “The lie is that when I heard of the soldiers’ unfortunate demise, I felt deeply sorrowful and regretful, and even a bit of regret. If only I had insisted on Dawn Camp going to the Blood Demon Palace, perhaps their deaths could have been avoided.”
The Palace Lord nodded, “And the truth?”
